YOU WERE STARING at Mk with anticipation, thinking that he might want to vent more about the recent events and how he was stressed and pressured about sacrificing himself to save his friends and the world.

You were told that his mental state wasn't the best in the past few days, so that could be a reason why he came to you. You shifted slightly to face him fully, "What's the matter, Mk? I'm here to listen." You spoke up, breaking the heavy silent between you two. Mk took a moment to gather his thoughts and then let out a breath, "What happened days ago made me think of so many things, one of them is what I'm about to tell you now." When he said that, you felt a bit worried about him. However, you still paid close attention to him.

"I'm really not sure how to tell you this because I have never felt like this before, but I'm going to tell you either way. At least to let you know."

"Mk, you're really worrying me right now. Is there something bothering you? I will help you if I can."

Mk went silent again, but this time you could see his cheeks turning slightly red. You didn't know if he was sick or probably embarrassed, so you didn't question him and just waited for him to continue talking. Mk fumbled with his hands nervously, "L-Look, it's not easy, okay!" He stammered as his face turned slightly redder. He sighed deeply and looked into your mint green eyes, "What I wanted to say is..." He trailed off and prepared himself to tell you what he had in mind, "I really really love you, Y/N.  I can't imagine my world without you. After what happened that day, I knew that I might not get a chance to tell you my feelings." He finally confessed how he truly felt toward you.

You reminded speechless, trying to process what he had just told you. Did he really just confess his feelings to you? Mk's face still had that red hue, waiting patiently for your response to his awkward confession. You shook your head to snap out of your thoughts, "Mk, I-..." You didn't get the chance to finish your sentence when Mk suddenly cut you off.

"I-It's okay of you don't feel the same!... I just wanted you to know how-"

"It's fine, Mk. It's fine." It was your turn to cut him off, "You just surprised me, that's all." You added as a soft smile tugged on your lips. You grabbed his hand and held it tightly in yours, "To be honest... I feel the same. You had helped me a lot and this made me form some kind of attachment to you even when I didn't regain my memories." You told him, a lively sparkle in your eyes. Mk blushed more upon discovering that you shared the same feelings as him, "R-Really? You... You feel the same?" As he asked this, you nodded your head to confirm what he had heard from you.

Before you could react, Mk tackled you in a hug that it took you off guard, "Thank you, Y/N! You made me the happiest guy in the world." He stated happily and then suddenly pulled away, "I promise to always make you happy and protect you all the time." Mk promised you with a look of determination on his face. You laughed at his confidence and insistence, "I love you, Mk." You said which made Mk smile big out of happiness.

You were glad that you got the old Mk back. You will always make sure to stay by his side and support him for as long as you live.

This was a vow you must keep.

Sounds of clashing weapons could be heard in the backyard of your house. You and Mk were training as usual and like everyday.

This became almost a daily routine to you two, Mk visiting you during daytime and train together. Yes you two would go on dates every now and then, but Mk wasn't used to those kinds of romantic dates yet. So, you suggested to train to improve Mk's control on his monkey form and you to enhance your skills with the demon slayer mark.

Anyway, Mk was in his monkey form, aiming to attack you by his staff. However, you used your sword and blocked the strike, "You're too slow, Mk." You mocked him with a smirk on your face. The mark on your face had made you faster and stronger. Mk laughed and landed away from you, "Oh really? You have seen not-..." Before he could finish, he felt your presence behind him. You had just disappeared from his sight and you were suddenly behind him.

"Again, too slow."

Just as you said that, you kicked his side, sending him flying away. Mk managed to stop himself before he could hit the tree. He stood up and huffed in annoyance, "Seriously? This is the third time I lose today! What's wrong with me?" Mk exclaimed, feeling frustrated on himself for losing again. You laughed and sheathed your sword, "It's probably because you're hungry. Let's take a break." You told him and Mk's eyes brightened in delight like a little child.

"Oh Y/N, you're the best partner ever! That's why I love you a lot!" He exclaimed and hugged you tightly. Mk rushed inside and you two went to make some noodles to eat. As you two walked into the kitchen, Ginko, your crow, landed on your shoulder and you petted her head. Mk smiled and waved his hand, "Hi Ginko!" Mk greeted her, but she shot him a glare and looked away from him.

Ginko didn't approve of your relationship with Mk because she thought that he was unworthy of your attention and love, but Mk still treated her nicely even though she would attack him sometimes. When you two reached the kitchen, the preparation for making the noodles started.

Minutes later, your food was ready and you two sat outside to enjoy the beautiful weather while eating, "You know, I think your crow hates me." Mk broke the silence, looking all gloomy. You stared at him with puzzlement, "Ginko? She is always like this. She hates almost everyone, so it's normal. Just give it some time and she will come around." You assured him with a soft smile which relieved Mk a bit.

There was a moment of quietness between you two as both of you ate. The tranquility of the atmosphere made you relax and enjoy this moment with your lover. A deep and relaxed sigh left your lips, "I'm happy to be with you, Mk. Let's work together and fight to protect this world." You spoke up, placing your bowl down beside you. Mk nodded with a confident smile, "Yeah, let's do this together." He agreed firmly.

You leaned slightly forward and kissed his cheek before standing up. Mk sat there with a red face, taken aback by this gesture, "Come on, let's continue training. If you win this time, I will go with you to the arcade tomorrow." You offered to encourage him to win the spar between you two. Mk shook his head as the redness on his face decreased, snapping out of his thoughts, "Alright! You better keep this promise then." He stated while summoning his staff, approaching you.

And just like that, you resumed your training with Mk. You were glad that he was getting stronger, but you will still support him no matter what. Mk was glad that your love for him was strong, it was what gave him the courage to continue on. He had promised to help you and he will never break this promise.

After all, the Monkie Kid never breaks a promise... or a heart.
