¿Chapter Two?
What is wrong with me? What makes the world go round? What can I do to make this better? What will happen when I die? What if there were different universes? What if I killed myself?
Somewhere else a different girl sat at a desk with a pencil on paper doodling a question mark. The girl had short, straight dark brown hair that stopped just below her shoulders. She wore blue cat eye glasses to help her light brown eyes see better. A black sweater, with the neck below her shoulders, was on her upper body with black bra straps visible on her shoulders. A black miniskirt was below the sweater around her waist which stops a quarter of the way up her thigh. Black high top converse were on her feet. This girl had the mark as well. A black question mark tattoo was on the side of her left hand above her thumb. However she tried to cover it as much as she could. Currently it was covered by her sweater sleeve.
"Nani can you come here please?" A womans voice came from another room in the house.
The girl at the desk got up, walked out of her room and into the kitchen. "What's up mom?"
Her mom looked similar to the girl however the mom's hair went down to her butt, and the mom wore bright colors. She wore a white , short sleeved button up shirt with light blue capris. And white canvas shoes. Basically the complete opposite of her daughter.
"I was wondering if you wanted to come to town with me? Maybe you could meet some new people?" Her mother smiled smally and hopefully.
Nani sighed and nodded. "Sure, I suppose I could try.." she trailed off slowly as she spoke, going only to make her mother happy. Nani grabbed her phone, shoving it in her pocket on her skirt, then walked out of the door with her mother.
They walked to town silently, Nani slightly behind her mother the whole time, not wanting to get in her way. Once they got to town Nani's mom told her child that she should go look for a store to explore and make some friends. The girl nodded and walked off without a word looking for a store that appeals to her.
As she was walking she looked at every store, the names, and in the windows to see what the store looks like inside. As she was walking she suddenly stopped upon hearing music from a band that she really liked. Nani looked around to see where the music was coming from, to find a small music store called Steves's Records. The girl ran over to the store and went inside. There were several racks of old records and CD's all separated by band, then alphabetically. You could tell that the store owner had a lot of time on their hands if they did all that.
"Hello miss, how are you today?" A man from behind a counter spoke as Nani walked in. He looked to be about in his late thirties. He had short black hair with specks of grey in them. He also had a short beard with the same look as his hair.
"Uh.. hello I'm doing alright, how are you?" Nani didn't make eye contact and started looking at some of the records.
"Not bad, been a slow day. However I am enjoying the new surround sound I just set up. What do you think?"
"It works really well, could hear the music from across the street," she picked up one of the records very carefully and traced over the words reading "Gorillaz", one of her favorite bands. However this album was very rare, meaning it was expensive as well.
"That's good. That'll bring in more customers for sure."
Nani nodded and smiled smally as She walked up to the man, handing him the album, slightly showing her mark. "How much would this be sir?"
The man saw her mark and jumped up quickly. "Um... I believe th-that album would b-be fifty dollars..."
Nani quickly covered her hand and looked down. "I-I'm sorry..." she then turned, ran out of the store and kept running not looking where she was going at all. She only stopped when it became too hard for her to breath, and she collapsed to the ground somewhere near the woods that she didn't recognize. She laid on her back breathing heavily with her hand on her stomach, looking up at the sky feeling numb. She slowly became lost in the thoughts of her head, and the questions she's always asked herself.
What if I didn't have this damn mark? What would happen if I just stood up for myself? What if I let people see my mark? What if people weren't scared of me? What if I just died?
