Ok guys, I was wrong

So I thought the whole talk of gender wars would just be exaggerated nonsense right.

As a conspiracy theory obsessed person I know that if I was a government and had problems I did not want my people to pay too much attention to, I would just give them something else to be upset about that does not have to do with me.
Simple distraction tactic, we all have done it with smaller issues.

If my way of thinking sounds paranoid to you, consider that when I read about how somewhen Chinese spyware was found preinstalled on millions of Android phones, it did not surprise me, I had expected it. Not specifically from China, but still.
I am not weird - well I am, but I also just see if something has utility, moral or not.
If a thing can be used, someone will use it. That's how it is.

However this did catch me off-guard.

Now I first had to check if this is actually real and not a troll post - apparently it is real.

I mean... this makes no sense.

What happened is basically that the guy had no clue how to talk to people to the point where he felt that he had to google how to make friends.
He encountered the girl twice and this is how she describes what happened. Please read first with an open mind, comment later.

First time she met him, Jamie was busy staring at a hedge:

"As I walked towards him, I was watching him and he suddenly swung round so he was facing me.

"I remember it happening fast. As soon as he moved I moved and I said: 'stop' and he touched me on my arm.

"I sort of jolted out of the way and I went into the road to avoid him and he very quickly walked away.

"I think it would have been on my breast had I not moved. When it first happened I didn't think much of it, didn't click in my head, I just thought 'that was really weird why did he touch me?'

This is how she described the second time:

"I was quite far up the road when I noticed him, he is someone who lives in my area, someone I have seen before... I thought I recognised him but I didn't think it was the person from the first incident at the time.

"It was only when he moved to touch me and looked me in the eyes that I realised it was the same person. The pavement was quite wide but he suddenly moved to walk in front of me, looked me straight in the eye and touches me on my side and walked off.

"It was quite a while - three to five seconds. He smirked at me, he didn't stop he just touched me and walked off and I broke down crying in the street - it was quite traumatic.

"I had reported the previous incident to the police days before hand as it had been going around that other incidents had occurred and I thought I could give more evidence and then it happened again.

"I broke down in tears straight away and rang my mum. I attempted to follow him initially and get a picture, but I wasn't quick enough.

"I rang my mum she came and picked me up, we went straight to the house and then went straight to the police station and reported the incident".

The way she instantly becomes defensive makes me think there is a decent chance of the girl having actually been attacked in some form before, so do not be too harsh in your judgement of her accusing the guy please.
That kind of thing can mess with how people see others.
Besides, the rumours of how other incidents had occurred  would  not have helped staying calm and rational about an unexpected encounter. Unfortunately, I could not find information on what was meant by that, so I do not know how to judge it.

The really worrying thing about this story is the authorities who seem unable to take a simple possibility like I described into account, manage to count touch as predatory behaviour somehow and fully blame the guy:

"Magistrates told Griffiths: 'The complainant's evidence was very clear, logical and without embellishment. We can think of no motivation for you to touch the victim other than sexual.

'Had she not taken evasive action the assault was likely to have been even more serious. The first assault can be recognised as opportunistic however there is more evidence of premeditation in the second.' "

Note how they say "had she not taken evasive action".
The girl froze and did nothing at all until the guy walked away after some seconds, probably after noticing she was uncomfortable. She then broke down crying and later tried to follow him to take a picture.
This is not evasive action.

Let's pretend for a sec the dude was a sexual predator, okay.
If he wanted to do TEH EVIL TOUCH to someone, would he do it

a) by winning their trust, getting them in a place where they cannot escape

b) in an extremely crowded area where nobody knows it's him

c) by totally giving his target all the time they need to possibly mistrust him and tell others about him, then casually walking off

Well you see what I mean.
For c), he'd need to be braindead.
Especially if he did it twice because by then they would recognise him.

Now does this guy sound braindead to you.

"'I have always been a very anxious person, my friends all seem to really know what to do and I never really asked of them how they did it. I have always been more stay at home with my parents and loneliness is all consuming.

'I really needed someone to talk to at the time and my intention was to make a friend - but I clearly didn't go about it the right way and I am sorry for the misunderstanding.

'I tried to speak to her but I just couldn't, my anxiety kicks in and it makes it impossible to say anything. I would hate to make someone feel uncomfortable or scared. Maybe it is time to try to make friends another way.'"

This does not sound braindead, it sounds genuinely sad and sorry.

And if this was pretended, that would mean Jamie has knowledge of how to make people feel for him and appear unsuspicious. Which he would have used when dealing with that girl in the first place if he liked getting all touchy-feely. No need to wait until getting into trouble to unpack that skill.

Now, the only possibility for anyone remaining in the thought that this was someone with bad intentions - if they do not have Google - is that they simply do not know what social anxiety is and what it can do to people's ability to function among others.

The other only possibility is that there is some heavy bias going on and this seems what it is. I would not have thought it is possible that several people could think that way in a simple situation like this, when it is specifically their job to remain impartial and fair.

"We can think of no motivation for you to touch the victim other than sexual."

Good grief.
Well the good thing is that many people talk about it, so he will get help to get out of this.

I have heard several stories about males being dragged to court for unreasonable things before.
But this is absolutely ridiculous, especially seeing how seriously the magistrates take it and how they ignore anything that explains why Jamie acted like he did.

How did this kind of thinking about males come to be?

I don't understand. That is just stupid.
Nobody should have to worry being judged to be a bad person over a mere suspicion based on some odd behaviour. Common sense could tell that anyone willing to listen.
I don't have much else to say about this, because it is that simple.

People need to calm down. Look, when the crazy person is not the one wearing the tinfoil hat and saying ridiculous things, something is really wrong.
I know most sexual aggression comes from males but we had the stupid
these-come-from-that-group-so-all-of-that-group-are-like-that a thousand times now.

Isn't it about time we grow out of it? It's getting really old and boring, and the joke was never good in the first place.
The only ones profiting from exaggerated vigilance are the actual bad guys who get an easier time to blend into average and go undetected because there is no true focus on them. It is not helpful to search without actually knowing what one is looking for.

I'm kind of running out of words but if you have anything to say, you can leave it here.
