Another Beginning

"Out of all the apartments you had to choose this one?" Eights said, marveling at the high end Coruscant apartment that Ezra had just rented for the year. "You didn't need to spend all that money on me."

It was a really high end apartment, on one of the top levels of Coruscant. You had a view of nearly all the buildings in every direction. When you walked into the apartment there was a kitchen right off to the left, to the right of that was a dining set and in the front there was a huge living room with two pairs of sofas and a gigantic window, showing the speeder lanes and the busy people making their way around Coruscant. There was a hallway on either side of the living room, each hallway had a bedroom and a private bathroom, on the right hallway there was a pool at the end of the hall and in the left hallway there was a game room.

"I didn't spend it on you, I spent it on me." Ezra informed him.

"Either way you still spent money." Eights protested.

"I spent the Empire's money."  Ezra corrected him.

"But still." Eights argued.

"I get your point." Ezra closed and locked the door behind them.

"Aren't you still shaken up about that poster?" Eights asked him, stripping off his cloak and laying it down on one of the dining chairs. "It shook me up to see your face plastered on the wanted wall."

"I'm not worried." Ezra shrugged it off.

"The Empire must want you pretty bad if they put up a million credit reward for you alive and a half a million for you dead." Eights inputted. "Aren't you worried?"

"About the Empire's funds? No, they will probably kill whoever brings me in anyway." Ezra said and grabbed a seat on the couch.

"No worried about your safety." Eights said and sat down beside him. "Come on, can't you at least show a little fear."

"Fear is the path to the dark side." Ezra pretty much recited to him.

"I don't care about the dark side, I care about you." Eights said and immediately felt awkward about it. "I mean in the way that Sabine would kill me if anything else happened to you."

"Thanks for your concern, but it's not needed." Ezra shook him off. "I'm going to go pick my room out, you fine with me having first pick?"

"Yes and real quick, why did you pick me to come with you?" Eights asked as Ezra got back up again.

"Because you were the most convenient."

"Was there another reason?"

"No so stop badgering." Ezra snapped and walked off to his right down the hallway to find a room. Maybe it was because he wouldn't force me to do anything I didn't want to. Ezra was glad the mind reading was only one way.

"Stop badgering." Eight whisper mocked Ezra and walked to the left, off to find his own room. Force knows how long this crazy man is going to stay here.

Ezra found his room, it was bare except for a big king sized bed, a nightstand and a closet. This will do find. Era closed his door and plopped down on the bed.

Eights found his room. What am I going to do now? He asked himself.

"Find a job!" Ezra yelled from his room.

"Hey! Stop mind reading me." Eights yelled.

"Sorry!" Ezra yelled back.

That is a good idea though. Eights left his room and grabbed an apartment key. To explore Coruscant, away!

Over the next few months, Eights had found a job as a waiter at a local restaurant and had been recently promoted to one of it's chefs. Ezra tried to find himself again, meditating the hours away. He stayed in the apartment not wanting to risk being caught.

Sabine and the others had successfully gotten into contact with the Rebellion again and they were still putting up a fight, with plans of attack against a second Death Star going into motion. To Sabine's dismay Ezra was indeed now a wanted fugitive of both the Empire and the Rebellion, she was hoping they could somehow explain this when he got back.

Jessica, Vent, Cane, Mouse and Circuits had decided to start up their own squadron again leaving Roe with Sabine and Hera on the Ghost. After a hard break up with Mouse Roe, didn't want to see him anytime soon and Hera and Sabine were happy to give her Kanan's old room. She helped out with the repairs to the Ghost, doing Chopper's old job and she helped out fix the x and y-wings of the rebellion.

Hera had been ruthless with her search for Chopper, but hadn't found anything yet.

"Ezra, did you hear the news?" Eights asked, running into their apartment, still in his work uniform. "I can't believe it." He engulfed Ezra into a hug.

"Yes, I heard the news and that means it's time to go back." Ezra responded, giving him a quick hug back then pushing him away. "I feel as if this is the force telling me it's time to face my past and start over."

"Come on I just got promoted last week." Eights complained, as he put a bottle in the fridge.

"I'm sure whatever form of government that comes out of this will be in need of a cook." Ezra answered. "So don't worry your head off."

"But can you believe it both the Emperor and Vader killed just like that." Eights said, astonished. "The Empire is no more, Ezra. Why aren't you happy or excited about this?"

"I kind of wanted to kill Vader myself." Ezra revealed. "And just cause the leaders are dead doesn't mean the Empire is."

"You'll kill your enemies next time, Ez." Eights reassured him.

He got up from the couch and headed back to his room. "I'm going to go pack, see if you can contact Sabine or Hera."

"Well the second Death Star was over Endor, let's just grab our ship and go check there. We are probably missing one heck of a celebration."

"I'm wanted by the Rebellion too, remember!" Ezra yelled from his room.

"Oh right, good point and wait don't pack yet I picked up some champagne to celebrate."

"Pack and then we can celebrate." Ezra said, coming out with a small bag. He didn't own much just his lightsaber, a couple of credits for emergencies and a few changes of clothes.

"Fine." Eights agreed and ran back to his room to pack.

Ezra pulled a cloak out of his bag and laid it on a dining chair for later, then went to pour the champagne Eights had brought in. He had gotten his sight restored a couple of weeks back, since Eights convinced him if he were to ever do it do it now in the best hospital, they were on the core world after all. They had to bribe the doctors a bit so they wouldn't turn Ezra in. It was still weird to him being able to see, but he was getting use to it. Sometimes Eights had to yell at him to keep his eyes open. Ezra poured two glasses just as Eights came out of the hallway and laid his bag next to Ezra's.

"You are getting started without me." Eights complained and grabbed a glass.

"I was just getting it set up, calm down." Ezra said, and handed him a glass. "To starting again."

"To starting again." Eights and Ezra clicked their glasses together and toasted to the unknown.
