Chapter 16
Chapter 16- What Makes You Human

You couldn't understand a single thing Aizawa was teaching, so you tuned it out with many thoughts until lunch started.
"You wait here, I'll see if there is anything that has fish," Izuku set you down at a table, where Uraraka and Iida sat.
Your ears twitched awkwardly as humans walked passed the table, gasping and whispering amongst each other about your arrival.
"Humans have nothing better to do," You mumbled, not looking at them passing by.
"Don't let them get to you, (Y/N). It's just that we have never seen a dragon in real life before, nevertheless one who is an actually dragon from another hidden home," Uraraka smiled at you, making you relax a little.
"We are all in awe and at ease by your presence! We humbly apologize for thinking so badly of you!" Iida chopped the air, making you shrug.
"I guess it would be the same if a human was at my home too," You said, as Izuku sat down with rice and chopped up fish.
"It's fried, if you don't mind it," He sheepishly said. You sniffed at it for a second, before leaning in and taking a bite of the fish.
'Thor almighty,' You thought, before grabbing the food with your hands and scarfing it down in minutes.
While Uraraka and Iida has their mouth wide open in shock, Izuku was used to the way you eat and just smiled, happy that you liked the food.
"I guess there is a culture barrier between humans and dragons," The brown haired girl giggled slightly.
You just gulped down the rice and fish and grasped the cup of water, before pouring it down your throat, water dripping from the sides of your mouth.
"Yeah..." Iida is a little appalled at your behavior when eating, but can't blame you. You never lived in human society, you never learned anything manners.
"If you don't mind me Fury, could I ask you a question?" Iida asked you, making you nod and discreetly stole Izuku's food, which he obviously noticed and whined about it.
"If dragons are real, and are hiding out there in a giant sinkhole in the middle of the ocean, why haven't spotted any sightings of it?" Iida questioned you, making you set the cup down.
"We dragons have been around for thousands of years, ye honestly think we don't have a trick or few up our scales?" You raised an eyebrow at him.
"I guess that's a valid response, however, we have traveled around the world for years, diving underwater and searching for any species for the history books, I highly doubt we would miss a giant sinkhole, even with illusions," He explained further, not fully convinced.
"I... I can't really explained any further, I've haven't been outside the Hidden World at all, not even when I was born," You mumbled, trailing off.
"It's a good thing too, for the best anyways," Uraraka gave a sympathetic smile.
"How so, Uraraka?" Idea asked her.
"Just think about it Iida, if we humans would ever find them, we would exterminate them. Be hunted down and killed, and for what? Living peacefully and away from us all? And they would say it was for the safety of humans," Uraraka explained with a sad pout.
You felt your ears droop sadly. She was right, by experience, humans would hunt you down till the ends of the earth.
'Which is why Da didn't want me here... I'm such an idiot,' You thought, placing your head down and covered yourself with your arms.
'I was stubborn and ignorant, and look where that got me. Stuck in a custody of humans, and nevertheless imprinted with one! How shameful this is to my kin!' You slightly let out a whimper of sadness, pulling up the hood of your clothes.
"Hey (Y/N), are you okay?" Izuku asked you with concern, placing a hand in your shoulder, which made you scoot away slightly. He frowned and sighed at the reaction you had.
"Right. You see guys, when (Y/N) was first seen on the news, pro heroes wanted to take them to justice, and they went as far as setting traps for them," Izuku told the two, who were a little shocked.
"Without knowing Fury, it's a little understandable for them to try and find them, but I never heard heroes ever setting traps. What's if an innocent civilian triggered one of them? That is a controversial idea, never mind a reckless one at that," Iida scolded, looking at your slumped figure.
"That's awful! I would be so scared, I would never want to face the outside world again!" Uraraka complained, making Izuku nod.
"It just proved to them that humans are nothing but ruthless monsters that will stop at nothing for power and fame, even if that means to kill innocent creatures for any part of them," He sadly said.
Izuku turned his head to see you sniff, and wiped tears away from your eyes, making him want to comfort you, but then he had an idea.
"But... that's going to change, because the reason they came here was to try and bring humans and dragons together. Maybe we can help them!" He suggested.
You looked up at him in confusion, as did Uraraka and Iida.
"We can make some kind of, dragon rescue foundation! Or a club, dedicated to dragon history, trying to prove that they are the real heroes!" Izuku beamed.
"Yeah! And maybe with the help with a hero or two, the club can grow!" Uraraka piped in, eating her mochi.
"What a kind and efficient idea, Midoriya! Turkey came from the heart!" Iida smiled, making Izuku nod.
"I know there are still going to be some people who will exploit them for money, but if we can become heroes, they won't be able to hurt them without any consequences," He placed a hand on your shoulder and gave you a comforting smile.
You gave a smile at them, feeling your face heat up at the amount of talking of a club just for your kind, but there was this feeling in your stomach.
'My kin deserves this, I don't,'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The end of the day, you sat at the window still in your dorm, sitting and looking outside. Your ears twitched at the sound of footsteps coming closer and the door opening.
"Hey Fury, you didn't eat your dinner," Aizawa muffled out, walking over to place a play of cooked fish at your nightstand.
You didn't say anything but nodded anyways.
'They're probably in a mood,' Aizawa thought, shrugging off your silence, and turned to walk away, but paused as he heard your voice.
"I'm scared," You managed to say. He turned his head, confused at what you said.
"That ye humans will kill my kin," You muttered, pulling your legs closer to your chest.
"Ah..." He realized, and walked to sit on the bed, listening to your thoughts.
"What if... what would happen if I was the cause of humans hunting dragons down?" You let out shaky breathes.
"It won't be kid, I promise you that it won't be your fault, we humans just don't deserve things in life," He quietly reassured you, placing a hand on your shoulder.
"But that's the thing," You sniffed, looking at the moon.
"There are bad humans out there, who are hungry for power, and would do anything for it. And if that means killing powerful beings for fun or sport, they won't stop," You told him. He went silent, and looked down at the floor.
'They're right, as much as I want to deny it. Kid is more aware than any other adult I've met,' He thought, feeling a little sympathetic.
"Just one question," You spoke up, and let out a deep breath.
"If the world is only going to see a dragon as scary and dangerous, do ye see me that way?" You looked at him, with sad eyes. Aizawa can't help but feel his stomach turn at your hurt expression.
'Kid really is scared of humans, and to think they were filled with wonder and awe,' He thought.
You felt arms wrap around your body, and he pull you close to him, placing his chin on top of your head.
"When it comes to that, you're more human than each and every one of us," He whispered to you, making you turn your body and hug him back.
You let him hold you for a moment, feeling safe and content with his presence. However, that changed when you felt a spark through your nose, making you internally freeze and cursed at yourself.
'Shit...'
