Chapter 26
Alpha's Point of View
Alpha, the commander of the Mojang Zombie unit, climbed Notch mountain. He was on a special mission for the Almighty Notch himself.
Climbing mountains was hard. Especially for Zombies. Alpha kept tripping on rocks and stuff.
It was a good thing none of his unit was around. They would all laugh at him.
Alpha tripped again, and his gold helmet fell off. The wires that allowed him to speak came disconnected from his ears.
He immediately caught fire, and now he couldn't speak. Alpha flailed his arms around until he found his helmet again. He picked it up and placed it on his head. Mojang had scrubbed the word "Mojang" off of it, so it wouldn't arise suspicion. The fire went out. Wow, that fire hurt.
After many attempts, Alpha connected the wires back to his ears. He could speak again. Only the commanders of each unit were permitted to speak. It cost too much money for everyone to speak. Plus, it only made sense for the leaders to talk and their unit to listen.
"Why couldn't Beta have been sent on this mission," Alpha muttered in his gravelly voice to himself. But secretly, he was glad the Skeleton commander hadn't been chosen for this mission. After all, Alpha was better.
Alpha continued climbing the mountain. After awhile, he came across a rabbit. The rabbit looked at Alpha, who stared back.
"What're you looking at?" Alpha asked the rabbit.
The rabbit squeaked, but kept staring into his eyes.
Alpha stared back. A few minutes passed. Neither looked away.
Then Alpha remembered his mission. He shook his head and kept climbing the mountain.
When he finally reached the level that the village was on, he sighed in relief. Now all he had to do was walk west, and he would reach his destination.
Right before he started walking, he heard a noise. Alpha whirled around.
The rabbit stared at him.
Alpha stared back.
Again, a few minutes passed, with neither being looking away.
Alpha remembered his mission again. He swung his arms at the rabbit, who jumped away. Then Alpha started walking west.
Alpha wished they had spawned the portal in the middle of Creektown. It was hot outside. But apparently it was supposed to be a stealth mission. So they spawned the portal in the grassland below Notch mountain.
They had spawned the portal in the center of Harville a few days ago. The attack there had been very successful, even though Alpha wasn't there. Alpha hadn't been allowed to be there. Mojang thought that a Zombie with a gold helmet would cause too much suspicion on the promo. But, his unit had done fine without him.
Alpha could finally see the village. Creektown was what they called it. Alpha kept walking towards it. He had to find out if the Resistance and Steve were there. Then he had to report back to Almighty Notch himself.
Alpha heard a noise behind him. He whirled around again.
The rabbit stared at him.
Alpha stared back.
Again.
Then he remembered his mission. He was angry at this rabbit for distracting him three times.
Alpha growled and started chasing the rabbit. It nimbly hopped away. He chased it in a circle. Alpha grew frustrated and dove for the rabbit, which hopped away. Then the rabbit left, going back down the mountain.
Alpha lay in the dirt for a few moments. He finally got up, and continued his mission. Hopefully with no distractions this time.
Alpha was about twenty blocks away from Creektown.
He noticed something different about it. But what was it?
He walked down the gravel road.
Just pretend you're a regular Zombie, Alpha thought. Then they won't notice you.
Most Villagers seemed to be out working. A Villager boy who looked to be about sixteen was on the roof of a house, placing quartz blocks.
Wait a minute. Quartz blocks? Villages weren't supposed to have quartz. You could only get quartz from the Nether. And Villagers don't build Nether portals. Do they?
Then Alpha saw a girl who looked around twenty years old in a potato farm. But something seemed off about her.
She wasn't a Villager. She was a Minecraftian.
And if she was a Minecraftian, that could only mean one thing.
The Resistance was here.
Alpha did think he recognized her from security footage. She must be someone important in the Resistance.
The girl noticed him. Alpha looked away, pretending to be a normal Zombie. She was too far away for normal Zombies to notice.
Some Zombies spawned with gold helmets. Alpha hoped she would think he was on one of them.
He walked around, trying to look aimless. Really, he was looking around the village for Steve. Was he here?
Alpha looked into a few houses. None were interesting. In one house, two twins saw him and threw something at the window. Alpha hurriedly walked away.
Then Alpha saw something. In the center of the village, an iron golem played with a six year old Villager boy. Yes. Played. Why would anythin want to play with such filth?
Alpha tried to stay out of sight of the iron golem. They hated Zombies, and if they saw one, they would kill.
Alpha didn't think he could take on that entire golem by himself. So, he stayed out of its line of vision.
The iron golem threw the boy into the air and caught him. He did this repeatedly, as the boy laughed and laughed.
It was disgusting.
Alpha kept walking through Creektown. He didn't see Steve anywhere. But it was definitely the Resistance. The footage on the security cameras showed nothing like this. The Resistance must've tampered with the cameras.
When he was walking by one house, he heard two voices. Alpha listened in, trying to look casual.
"Where is Steve?" a man's voice said. He sounded about forty.
"He wanted to take a job today," another man's voice replied. "I heard him talking to Ruby and Jay about it."
Those names sounded familiar to Alpha. But he didn't know who they were.
"Ah. What job did he get?" the first voice asked.
"I believe he is on Nether patrol," the second voice answered. "With Jay," he added.
"Ah, yes," the first voice said. "Well, I want to talk to him when he gets back."
"Yes, sir," the second voice replied.
"Stupid Zombies," a third voice spoke. It sounded female. It also sounded like it was coming from behind him.
Alpha spun around as an iron sword swung over his head. He looked at his attacker.
It was the girl from the potato farm. She looked ready to kill.
Alpha was itching to get out his iron sword, but he had to be a believable Zombie. So, he used his arms.
Alpha swung at her, and she blocked his arms. It hurt. She swung at him, and he ducked.
He tried running away. He had all the info he needed. Now he just had to get away.
The girl stuck her leg out and tripped Alpha. Luckily, his helmet stayed on this time.
The girl swung her sword down at Alpha. He rolled away, then grabbed the sword. He didn't care now. He had to get out of Creektown.
The girl was surprised when Alpha pulled the sword out of her grasp. He stood up and pointed the sword at her throat.
The girl put her hands up. She looked bewildered. Normal Zombies were not smart enough to do this.
Then Alpha hit her on the head with the hilt of her sword. She collapsed, unconscious.
Alpha threw the sword down and ran out of Creektown. He tripped and fell on his face. And he got up again and kept running.
There wouldn't be a Resistance much longer.

If you read "A Porkchops Story", you will see that Alpha makes an appearance in that book too. But he isn't nearly as funny in that book as he is in this one.
