Steve's Point of View

"So, are you guys ready to live here the rest of your life?" Bill asked.

The nine of them were standing in the center of the village again, Bill and Scullscan in front of them. Steve couldn't believe he had lost.

"Why do we have to do this again?" Kirai asked. "What benefits will you get from us living here?"

"Um...more emeralds!" Bill said.

"We can't get emeralds if we live here," Jay said. "But I have an idea on how we can get you some."

"Really? How?" Bill asked enthusiastically.

"If you let us borrow your trucks, we will go to a very good mining spot, then bring you back some emeralds!" Jay suggested.

"Hmmmm..." Bill thought about it.

Ten minutes later, the Resistance members were preparing the trucks.

"We only need five," Steve said. "We can leave one for them."

"Hey guys," Scullscan said. "I'm gonna come with you."

"You don't have to," Steve said. "It's gonna be dangerous."

"Danger is my thing," Scullscan replied. "I've always wanted to be an adventurer. That's why I ran away from my family, to go adventuring. I just stopped here in Leonardtown for awhile. They're not my real family."

"Are you sure?" Steve asked.

"Of course," Scullscan answered. "Besides, I need a little break from these guys." He gestured over to Bill and a couple of Villagers, who were trying to head a block of gravel like in soccer. They kept failing and falling into the dirt.

"Yeah...okay," Steve replied. "You can ride with Godhand in one of the trucks. Lee and Dee, you take another one. Cupcake will go with Tommy. Kirai, you take Jay." Jay grinned. "And I'll take Todd," Steve finished.

The ten of them saddled up and drove away. Bill and the Villagers waved goodbye.

Tommy and Cupcake were in the lead truck, because they had insisted on being there. Tommy apparently was a great driver, while Cupcake apparently was a great navigator.

Scullscan and Godhand were behind them, then Steve and Todd, then Lee and Dee, and finally, Jay and Kirai.

Steve was driving in their truck, with Todd in the shotgun. The trucks were all the same, pickup trucks with covers on them.

Todd had somehow gotten his hands on a bow and arrow. He was aiming everywhere and pretending to shoot. He aimed at Steve.

"Woah, point that thing somewhere else!" Steve shouted, swerving the vehicle.

Todd laughed. "Okay, okay," he said.

But then he let go of the arrow.

It whizzed about an inch in front of Steve's face and flew out the open window.

"WHAT THE NETHER, MAN?" Steve yelled.

Todd laughed again. "I am so sorry. I didn't mean to let go of it!" He didn't sound like he meant his apology.

"You're trying to kill me!" Steve yelled again. "That's the second time! I knew you were a spy!"

Todd stopped laughing. "Dude, how many times do I have to tell you, I'm not a spy."

"Oh yeah? Then how did a fourteen year old like you just happen to get put in jail?!" Steve asked, very annoyed.

"I don't wanna talk about it," Todd replied, suddenly seeming very closed.

"Mhm. Because you were put there by Mojang," Steve said.

Todd turned around very suddenly. "You wanna know why I was in jail? Because I set an entire village on fire. Okay? I killed everyone. I even have the scars to prove it." He rolled up the sleeve of his hoodie to reveal several burn marks on his arm.

Steve was shocked. "You-you set a village on fire?" he squeaked. "Why?"

Todd sighed. "Because--woah wait. What is that?" He suddenly pointed to the road ahead of the first truck, which they could see because there was a bend in the road.

Steve saw it too. There was a man in the road, doing something with blocks. Steve strained to see what he was doing. The blocks seemed to be in a 'T' formation.

"What is he doing?" Steve asked as the man placed three blocks on top of the 'T', then ran for his life.

Todd gasped. Steve instantly knew what it was.

Several things happened at once.

A huge explosion formed in the road. The first truck dove straight into it, but Steve could see Tommy, carrying Cupcake, running up the cover of the truck as it dove in. Tommy jumped at the last second and landed on the ground.

The Wither was here.

The second truck swerved off the road and stopped. The Wither shot a projectile at that truck, which exploded. Godhand and Scullscan flew out of it. Steve hoped they were okay.

Then Steve realized the Wither was heading straight for his truck. He swerved off the road on the opposite side Scullscan and Godhand went, doing a 360 and stopping.

Steve saw Tommy running, still carrying Cupcake in his arms, who seemed to be passed out. The Wither now shot at Lee and Dee's truck, missing the first time when they swerved off the road and started driving away. Jay and Kirai's truck followed them.

The Wither flew in front of Lee and Dee's truck and shot at the truck's front window, breaking it. Steve could see inside it.

The projectile had hit Lee, who wasn't driving, square in the chest. She wasn't moving.

Dee was shaking her and sobbing, even though she should've been driving. The truck swerved all over the place, almost hitting Steve's a couple times.

The Wither shot again. But because of Dee's swerving, it missed.

Steve saw Jay running towards the truck. What is he doing? Steve thought.

He managed to jump up on the driver's side of the truck. He yelled something at Dee, who wasn't listening. She was still crying about her sister.

Jay sighed and opened the door of the still moving truck. He grabbed Dee and jumped out with her, just as the Wither shot the truck again and it exploded.

Jay carried Dee in his arms to his truck. Tommy was carrying Cupcake that way too.

Then the Wither turned on Steve and Todd's truck.

"Oh, sh--" Todd was cut off by the Wither shooting at them. Steve barely managed to turn the truck and drive away, making the projectile miss.

Then Steve saw Scullscan and Godhand in the rearview mirror, both limping and bloodied. Todd looked at him and shook his head, but Steve did a U-turn and went back for them. He went right past the Wither, who shot another projectile but missed.

Steve pulled the truck up to Scullscan and Godhand and yelled, "Get in the back!"

They opened the back and Scullscan hopped in first, just as the Wither shot another missile at him and Godhand.

Steve watched the rearview mirror as Godhand disappeared in a cloud of fire.

He choked back a sob and drove away.

The Wither tried shooting them again, but Steve swerved out of the way again. He could see Tommy on top of the truck in front of them, bow poised.

The Wither shot in front of them again, making a crater in the ground. Steve barely managed to avoid it.

Tommy shot the Wither with his arrow. It didn't do much, just made the Wither turn on him.

"I have explosive arrows," Todd whispered.

"What?" Steve asked.

"I have explosive arrows and a bow. I can stop the Wither!" Todd exclaimed.

"But can you shoot well?" Scullscan asked from behind them.

"I can try," Todd said, climbing out the window and onto the roof. He positioned his bow and arrow.

Meanwhile, the Wither was shooting the other truck with Tommy, Cupcake, Jay, Dee, and Kirai. Whoever was driving was very good at avoiding the projectiles.

Todd aimed and shot. He hit the Wither square on the middle head. The arrow exploded, and the Wither was obviously hurt.

But now he turned back to Steve's truck.

This time, the Wither flew right at them. It came right in front of the windshield. It was about to shoot, but something incredible happened.

Todd jumped onto the Wither. He clung to the middle head with one hand, and took at least a dozen arrows out of his quiver with the other.

They were explosive arrows.

"PUT IT IN REVERSE!" Todd yelled as the Wither struggled to get him off. It was like a crazy rodeo.

"I'M NOT LEAVING YOU!" Steve yelled back.

Todd gave Steve a look.

"I...." Steve was at a loss for words.

"JUST DO IT!" Todd screamed.

Steve sighed and put the truck in reverse. The Wither didn't follow them.

Todd triggered the arrows. Then he said:

"WOULD A SPY BE SAVING YOU?"

Those were his last words.

The Wither and Todd blew up.

Steve swerved around the crater and followed the other truck.

They left the Wither's dead body behind.

Todd had just sacrificed his life for them.
