Chapter 74

Jay's Point of View

Jay charged towards the Wither, dodging projectiles as he ran.

The Wither shot right at Jay, and he jumped, barely making it over.

The Wither flew down a little bit, and Jay jumped on a small tower, then jumped from that and onto the Wither's middle head.

The Wither started going crazy, trying to shake him off.

It was like a crazy dangerous rodeo.

The Wither started flying higher. Jay knew if he fell, he would die.

The Wither tried shaking him off again, and Jay lost his grip on the head.

He fell down to the tail, and managed to grab on to it.

Jay started climbing back up. He noticed that the Wither had flown higher than the top floor of Mojang Headquarters.

He made it to the head of the Wither once more, and it was still trying to shake him off.

Jay stuck one of the explosive arrows into the Wither's middle head, but didn't activate it yet. Then he stuck the other two arrows into the other heads.

Jay breathed deeply. Once he activated these, he would die.

He closed his eyes and activated the arrows.

Then he let go.

Steve's Point of View

"NOOOOOOOO!" Steve screamed.

He charged at Alex with the ferocity of the Wither.

She didn't have time to react as he stabbed her in the heart. (Yes, the_iron_dragon, the heart.)

Alex fell to the ground.

Steve knelt down beside Ruby, checking for a pulse.

There was one, but it was faint.

Ruby's eyes fluttered open. She looked into his eyes.

"I...I love you," she croaked. "But...don't you dare think about joining me. You...you have to live. You...are...the...fate...of...Minecraftia."

"Ruby..." Steve was holding back tears.

She smiled at him, one last time.

She took her final breath, and laid her head back down.

Tears streamed down Steve's face.

He heard people enter the room.

"Good news, Iota's dead--oh no..." a male voice said.

"Ruby," an older male's voice said.

Steve didn't bother to look at who it was.

Nothing was registering anymore.

Except one thing.

Ruby was dead.

Jay's Point of View

Jay heard an explosion above him as he was falling.

He also heard the unmistakeable sound of the Wither dying.

But he didn't open his eyes.

He didn't want to see the horrified looks on his friends' faces as he fell.

As he was sure he was close to the ground, he heard a strange noise. It kinda sounded like a grappling hook.

Suddenly, Jay felt an arm wrap itself around his body as they both fell, and he stopped falling as fast.

Jay opened his eyes.

Tommy was holding him with one arm and hanging from his bow, which was being used like a grappling hook, with the other.

"I will not leave someone to die," Tommy said.

Jay smiled as they touched the ground lightly.

Kirai ran over to Jay and hugged him tightly.

"Don't you dare do that again!" she said. It sounded like she was crying.

Alice walked over to Tommy.

"That was pretty heroic," she said.

Tommy blushed.

"Now what do we do?" Nomis asked.

"Time to go save Steve," Jay replied.

Steve's Point of View

Steve woke up.

Was it all a dream? he wondered.

Then he realized Scullscan and Sharky were carrying him up stairs, and that Ruby wasn't with them.

It definitely wasn't a dream.

"I can walk, guys," Steve said, and they set him down.

Everyone looked at him with concerned expressions, worried what he would do.

"What floor are we on?" Steve asked.

"One hundred," Lourd replied. "This door right here is where Notch must be."

Steve took a deep breath.

"Let's do this," he said, and he tried opening the door.

It swung open easily.

Steve peered around inside.

It looked like a normal office. On the right side were floor to ceiling windows, on the left side there were crazy paintings everywhere. There was a desk in the middle, with a chair behind it and a chair in front of it.

But there was no one there.

The four of them searched around the office, but they couldn't find anybody.

"See if you can find any obsidian too," Lourd said. "We still have the other ingredients for that potion, Notch's Destruction."

Sharky stroked his necklace.

Steve looked around, but he couldn't find any obsidian.

"Guys look, a note," Enderspi said, pointing at the desk. There was a piece of paper on it.

Steve walked over and read it aloud.

"Dear Resistance, Meet me on the rooftop. I have a surprise for you! Love, Notch," Steve read.

"Should we do it?" Scullscan asked.

"It's most likely a trap," Lourd replied. "But if he's up there, that's where we need to go."

"Agreed," Steve said. "Let's go."

They walked back out to the hallway. There were no stairs going up to the roof, only the elevator.

Steve walked over to the elevator shaft and looked down.

The wires were still cut.

"How are we gonna get up there?" Steve asked.

"We can use my bow as a grappling hook," Sharky suggested.

"Alright, let's do that," Steve said.

Enderspi took out his bow, tied some string to an arrow, and shot up the shaft.

He went first, then Scullscan.

"After you," Lourd said.

Steve nodded, and he climbed up. Lourd followed him.

He stood between Scullscan and Sharky. Lourd went to the left of Scullscan.

Notch and Jean were standing about twenty blocks away on the roof.

There was a huge tarp behind them, covering something big, but low to the ground.

Steve wondered what it was.

"Hello, Resistance," Notch greeted. "Scullscan, Sharky."

Scullscan gasped when he realized Notch knew his name.

"Hello Steve," Notch said. "And hello, old friend."

He said this to Lourd.

"Old friend?" Steve asked Lourd.

Lourd shook his head, as if to say 'Not now'.

"What's the surprise?" Steve asked.

"Ah, getting right to the point, are we?" Notch asked. "Well then. I will show you the surprise. Servant, remove the tarp!"

No one moved.

Notch looked at Jean.

"That's you," he said, quieter.

"Oh," Jean said.

She removed the tarp.

Steve gasped.

It was a giant End portal, bigger than Steve had ever seen before. It was still made of twelve End portal pieces, but they were huge. The center was the normal color of pitch black.

"Yes, gasp is right," Notch said. "A few days ago, my servants and I took control of the Ender Dragon! Of course, only I survived, but we still managed to take control of it!"

Notch had taken control of the Ender Dragon? That was not good.

"Anyway, I have given it the command to destroy all signs of civilization, besides Mojang Headquarters, when it comes out of the portal," Notch explained. "I wanted to rule the world, but your promo made sure no one believed me anymore. So, I resorted to destroying the world instead."

"Don't do it!" Lourd shouted. "It'll kill everyone!"

Notch facepalmed himself. "Yes, that's the point. Boy, you sure have gotten dumber over the years."

Steve wondered why Notch kept implying that he knew Lourd before.

"It'll kill you too!" Sharky yelled.

"No it won't," Notch replied nonchalantly. "I'm its master! When I snap my fingers, it'll fly out of the portal!"

"Notch, don't--" Steve started.

But Notch snapped his fingers.

A defeaning roar was heard.

And the Ender Dragon flew out of the portal.
