Reflective
Another time, I blinked. Still nothing. I blinked again. Finally, another sight of myself. Once again, it... Me.. Had gotten older. Taller. More mature. Less emotion, yet still more alive than me.
"So... You're still here?"
I nodded.
"I guess you've got nothing better to do then, eh?"
I shrugged.
"Lives are for losers."
She smiled.
"True dat. Now, if ya ain't got anything better to do, you here for my story like always?"
I again, shrugged.
"Go for it."
She- me- it- my younger reflection, I guess, shrugged.
"Sure. So first off- I actually make friends! Everything's okay! I'm not getting bullied much, I'm happy, and then- then- oh my frickin' jebejus, my step mom calls me out into the living room during summer, and tells me 'OH HEY, BY THE WAY, SENSE YOU'RE ALL HAPPY AND STUFF WE'RE TRANSFERRING YOU!' And I have to smile, and act like EVERYTHING is okay, and the moment I'm back in my room, I'm bawling my eyes out and NOBODY knows about it! So, NOW, I go to my old school, and these people kept coming up to me on the first day and I'm just like- 'NO! LEAVE ME ALONE!' But NOOO! They all had to be like- "OH HEY I REMEMBER YOU!" and I'm just mentally dying here! I mean... I do have a couple friends, but I lost total contact with one of my best friends! It's just- it- it- UGH!"
I chuckled.
"I know. That sucked. Bad."
She looked up at me. Only slightly, though. She was close to my height.
"Wait a minute. We look so similar. But what's up with your skin? You porcelain or something?"
I smirked.
"Yeah. I'm glass, baby."
She rolled her eyes.
"Well, vampire me, I'm getting outta here. Thanks for letting me vent."
This time, I didn't even try to respond before she was gone. I stared back at my reflection. I was pale. So very pale. When was the last time I stayed in the sun for more than a minute?
... Compared to my young self, I am paper in the face of dark charcoal...
