Life was good. Liam had moved into Sydney at a young age after he received a scholarship to go to college at a well-known university to study Engineering. He had worked way too hard through High school to earn the scholarship and had to continue the same in college. In the end, it paid off. 

     Back in 2034 when the Australian parliament banned the use of any cars that ran on gasoline, Liam started his own boat company selling his newly designed Electric boats. Eventually, when boats and planes that ran on gasoline were banned as well, Liam was prepared. In a world becoming more and more reliant on technology, the market for electric boats skyrocketed- especially in a city like Sydney. His company started making electric cars, planes, other vehicles, and appliances. They rapidly expanded throughout Australia and later some parts of the rest of the world.

     Liam was now a billionaire, and he wasn't shy about spending his money either. He lived in an exquisite penthouse spanning the 43rd, 44th, and 45th floors of a skyscraper in the Sydney CBD. He created the world's first Superyacht and built a side home and dock for it just off of Mackenzies Point. His private airplane was kept in one of the hangers in southern Kingsford Smith Airport. He had his fair share of cars too, all of them electric of course. He loved to take them through the city whenever he could find some free time.

     Liam's favorite pastime though, was getting out and having fun. He loved to travel the world, see new things. Almost every other night Liam would go out to eat. Sometimes he would go to one of his many favorite restaurants, sometimes he would try a new restaurant. After all, in a city as big as Sydney there were almost infinite restaurants.

     Sometimes they would just go on walks, through the rocks, by the Opera House, around the coasts, over the harbour bridge. In a city as beautiful as Sydney, there was once again almost infinite possibilities. 

     But Liam's favorite thing of course, would be going to parties. There was something that would never get old about socializing at parties for Liam. Every new face, person, story, interaction, it was all fun for Liam.

     That's why every year Liam would throw one of the biggest New Year's parties in Sydney, In his penthouse. New Year's Eve was Liam's favorite Holiday, what's not to love about partying, watching fireworks, and drinking champagne? The first part of the party would always be on the 43rd floor. This was the first and main floor of his penthouse, with the kitchen, dining, living, theatre areas, as well as two balconies. The 43rd floor also had an aquarium, piano, and wet bar. The 43rd was almost all open, with no walls between most rooms and even a giant spiral staircase near the center of the room. The 43rd's outside walls were made up of all windows, providing a 270-degree view of the city. 

     All of the windows were equipped with electronic blinds that could be programmed. In fact, the entire building was electronically equipped with all of the highest technologies. For example, the door lock was a finger scanner that would change the lights, music, windows, and other themes based on which finger you used to open the door.

     The 45th floor was used for the countdown and once the fireworks started because it was open and did not have a ceiling, offering the best views and some fresh air. There was also a spa on the 45th, but Liam didn't usually use it for his New Year's Eve parties. The only other place was the 44th floor and it was not used for his parties, as it was only bedrooms. 

    Liam wanted this year's party to be even bigger, as they were entering a new decade in 2040. He normally only invited friends, colleagues, or business partners but this year he would be more flexible and was going to invite over 30 people. Whatever happened, this would be a year to remember.
