The day went by so fast, Sarah had to drop me home cause I felt like passing out with she telling me to take the day off tomorrow

I mean I never knew it would be this exhausting combining work and my school work, I feel like giving up on life

I let out an exhausted sigh, walking slowly into the apartment, I finally got to the door, unlocking it and getting in

The whole place was dark except for a little glimpse of light rays coming from the kitchen, I went towards the kitchen area, turned on the light and saw Elijah reading with a pen in his mouth and his reading glasses on, I don't know why, but he looked cute

He raised his head up, staring at me, I gave him a small smile and asked "why did you turn off the lights?" he ignored my question by facing his book, well snobbish much, I huffed tiredly and walked past him to the room not ready to start an argument

I dropped on my bed, trying to sleep, I opened my eyes wide remembering I had few assignments to do, I cried out loudly "oh God why a medical course out of all courses, what the hell was I thinking "

Rubbing my face tiredly, I got up picking up my bluetooth speaker and connecting my tablet to it, I played Already by Beyonce ft Shatta wale

I love this song, I was miming and dancing to the song while stripping out of my clothes, meanwhile I didn't know someone was knocking

I was in my tights and black bra when I turned to get my robe and I saw Elijah standing in my room with folded arms across his chest looking at me from head to toe and with no look of shock or remorse. I thought I locked the door

He didn't even move, I screamed trying to cover my body with my robe "what the hell are you doing here!!? You don't even knock now?!!"

"Get out, get out now!!" I yelled at him, oh God he would have seen some of my skin imperfections, I wanted the ground to swallow me on the spot

Elijah shook his head, he smirked "anyway, I've been knocking since and you didn't answer due to the fact you don't realise your song is too loud which is disturbing the neighours and I and I'm trying to concentrate, can you lower the volume?" Then he left

I just stood there dumbfounded, holding my robe tighter, I felt like crying, I don't know why. I sat on my bed just thinking and going down memory lane, 'why do we always argue, even after five years and we still keep arguing like children '

I miss him, his attention, how he always cared for me, everything about him I miss. But he's still a jerk and I won't give him the satisfaction that he knows I get affected by his presence

I brushed it all off and left the room to shower, I saw that he left the kitchen already, better, like who the hell studies in the kitchen anyway, I got into the bathroom and did my business

I was studying by doing my assignments when my phone started ringing with my dad's name popping on the screen

Jesus, I'm dead, I totally forgot about my family , I picked it up and gulped expecting the worst, "good evening even dad, how are you sir?"

"Oh so you remember you have a father somewhere?"

"Dad I'm so sorry, it's been work and school, everything has been exhausting, I'm so sorry sir"

"Alright it's fine, hope everything is going well?".... "yes sir, I'm coping and no problem so far"

"We don't even see you post any pictures, why?" He asked

"Dad I don't even have time for myself, talk less of pictures, but I'll take some tomorrow and send to you sir"

"Alright then, goodnight and love you "
"Love you too sir and my regards to everyone " I ended the call and smiled happily, I really miss home

I was done for today and called it a night.

The rest of the working days went by so quick, maybe because I've been so occupied, I tried getting a job as a research assistant which I got in a nice company and the pay is good and will be starting Monday

So I didn't even have the time to think about a particular housemate. Although I noticed he has been keeping his distance ever since the Truth or dare night.

I just got back from the store I branched to on my way home, coz I'm running out of food stuffs

I couldn't be happier because tomorrow is Saturday, enough time for me to shop for office wears and take care of myself.

I sighed as I got in and dropped the stuffs on the kitchen counter. I was arranging the things when I heard like an argument coming from Elijah's room

Well maybe he and another girl, coz that's definitely not Nadia also he and Dora has never argued, not like I've witnessed any

I was still doing my thing ignoring whatever was going on when the door to his room opened revealing his.... 'wait... what the... isn't that his mom'

My eyes went wide open, "Elijah please don't distance yourself from me, I just want the best for you " she said crying

"Look mom, fine I'll come home next weekend and spend time with you as far that guy isn't home, is that fine?"

She sniffed and nodded "thank you baby and he won't be around I promise"

I know it's rude to be there and I should have excused myself, but I couldn't move and I was arranging my stuffs duh...'yh, great excuse '

She hugged him, hugging her back, his eyes shifted to me, noticing me there for the first time. His eyes widened, quickly moving from his mom's embrace and putting his head down out of embarrassment. I suddenly felt bad

The mom noticed this and turned to look at the cause of her son's state, then she spotted me. I didn't know what to do, I was looking away shyly, so I just said

"Uhmm good evening ma, I went and knelt down on my knees (it's the way we greet elders in yoruba tribe)

She looked shocked, the whole situation was looking awkward, even Elijah didn't see my act coming

"Please please, stand up dear, we don't do that here, stand up" she said raising me up

"Sorry what's your name? Are you Elijah's girlfriend?".... " What! oh I'm Nina Ishmael and I'm not his girlfriend, just housemates" chuckling nervously at the last statement

"Oh, you're a very beautiful young lady, Elijah why didn't you tell me about her?" Elijah rolled his eyes looking away

"I didn't see the need to tell you about my housemate" he shrugged, I rolled my eyes at him and smiled at his mom

"Come and have a sit with me dear" she said dragging me along with her, oh father, I didn't plan today like this.... "but mom, I thought you were leaving " Elijah interrupted her

"But now I can stay for a little while coz I want to speak with Nina, is that a problem for you?" She asked sternly

"Not at all" he said with a low tone and turned to leave but was stopped by his mom "uhmm Elijah I'm thirsty, I need water baby and afterwards come and sit" he groaned and walked away grumpily

Boy are you not rude, I shook my head. "Oh don't mind him, but he's all I have anyway " she said sadly, I smiled and squeezed her hands "I understand ma'am "

"So you knelt down, you're Yoruba too?"
"Yes ma, I am, it's been a month since I got here"

"Wow, that's nice, we moved here with Eli four years ago, he wanted to pursue medicine after his first degree, so you guys don't like each other?"

"Uh.... uh.. uhmm ma, it's complicated, we used to be friends back then in Nigeria "

"What!! Really? That secretive soul, he never even told me, well it's all good, wait? Was it because of you he wanted to leave Nigeria?

I looked confused "ma what are you talking about?".... "I'm not sure, it's just something that happened in the past doesn't feel right, but let's forget that for now" she replied with her forehead scrunched up

"Seeing you for the first time, I believe you're a very well behaved lady and you can change my baby for me"

"I uh... I.. uhmm, ma I don't know about that, we are not really on good terms" I told her

She looked confused "what do you mean?".... "like I said ma, it's complicated " I gave her a small smile

"Can you do me a favour?" She asked
"Sure, why not ma"

"I know I'm just meeting you, but please I don't want you to leave him, I know you mean something to him....

"Ma, I'm sorry but you're getting it all wrong" I cut her

"Wait let me finish, I feel it, you should know he was never like this since you used to be friends in the past, although even during that time he was going through some things, but that'll be a story for another day. Just promise me you'll be there for him please?"

I was feeling uncomfortable with the whole thing she was asking from me, I didn't know what to say, so I smiled and nodded

"Thank you dear, it means a lot... so where do your parents stay?" She asked

"Uhm they stay at...." Elijah cut me "mom it's time to go, here's the water"

"But I'm having a nice time with Nina, why're you sending me away?" She asked sadly

"Yh, I mean she's talking to me not you, since getting water took you so long" I retorted

He looked my way and smirked "I'm pretty sure she isn't your mom and I really wasn't talking to you"

I don't know why I didn't reply maybe because he's right, it's not my business
"Elijah you really lost your manners, what's wrong with you? Nina I'm really sorry, see you soon okay?" His mom said

"It's fine ma'am, I'm used to it, and I hope I see you soon too" I smiled at her

"Oh yes, why don't you come with Elijah next weekend, we'll catch up" she said smiling like she got the biggest gift ever

"What!! Mom I don't think so, she's going to be busy, right?" Elijah said giving me the just cooperate with me look

"I... uh... uhm yes he's right, I'll be busy"
I felt bad lying to her, she was really nice to me and I didn't see it coming

She smiled and sighed sadly "but I can just re-plan my schedule and will be able to come" I said smiling

Her face brightened up "aww, that's so sweet of you, see you next week then "
I nodded while smiling, I looked at Elijah glaring at me, I smirked at him walking past him to help his mom with her bag

"Let me help you with your bag ma.... "oh don't worry dear, it's fine" she declined
"No I insist ma, it's nothing "
" ok then, thanks dear"

We walked her to her car and bade her goodbye leaving me with Elijah ....
