Plan, anyone?
Sneaking through Snowdin in the new, artificial, light of day was not as easy as it may appear to be. Everyone would recognise the skeletons if they showed themselves and would probably make an effort to capture them or turn them in, at the very least tell someone of importance about their whereabouts. For Frisk and Flowey it could be easier since most monsters wouldn't recognise them as human, and the fact that they wore stripes also helped.
In the world of kill or be killed, it was a dangerous place for everyone, especially children. That's why it was an unspoken rule that children should wear stripes at all times, as not to be attacked. After all, most monsters were cruel, but it took a special kind of cruel to harm a child.
Since it was in their best interest to stay with the skeletons. Even so, none of them were in any condition to fight. Sneaking through the trees in the edge of the forest was effective, but it took a while. To make it anywhere since there was almost always one or two monsters lingering near the woods, looking for their next prey. Frisk found it extremely unnerving and tried their best to ignore it.
After a while everyone was either tired, hungry, or still unable to walk themselves. Papyrus led them deeper into the forest before he allowed the group to stop and take a break. Everyone sat down, Frisk allowing the flower to slither down off their arm. Papyrus gently sat his brother down, helping him to find a comfortable sitting position. After everyone was settled, Papyrus took off his backpack and passed around the food.
As the food was passed around, Sans reached for the bag and glanced at its contents. A small wave of panic washed over him as he didn't find what he was looking for. "P-Papyrus," he said worriedly, making his brother look at him in concern. "You d-didn't leave those b-blueprints back there, d-did you?" The panic rising in his voice was very noticeable, making Frisk and Flowey wonder what was so important about the blueprints they had disregarded in their search for the book the previous night.
"It's in the other bag, don't worry," Papyrus reassured him, gesturing to the bag Frisk was taking off their back. The shorter skeleton sighed in releif, relaxing once again. His brother passed him some of the food and he took some, thanking his brother while he did it.
They sat in silence for a few minutes while they ate. It became apparent to Papyrus that they would need some more food in a day or two. Where they would get it, he had no idea, but they would need it by them nonetheless. Frisk broke the silence, "does anyone know where we're going?"
Another silence followed, it just now occurring to everyone else that they hadn't thought of any kind of destination. "T-Tori will be in New Home," Sans said. Papyrus finished the thought, "But it will be difficult to get there." Frisk asked how bad it would be.
"Well, the dog pack, who all work for the Guard and would frankly love to turn us in, and Dulio all are in Snowdin, there's Undyne, the captain of the Guard, in Waterfall, we will have to pass through the lab in order to reach New Home, and the city is filled with monsters who would turn us in in a second," Papyrus answered, voice flat and serious.
Frisk let it sink in, trying to rink of a way to get past even one of the dangers. Just as a thought came to their mind, Sans said it before they could vocalize it. "I could teleport u-us, some o-of the way at least." His brother disregarded it, telling him that he was to injured to even stand on his own. No one could argue against it either, so that was the end of that idea.
Flowey spoke up with a mouthful of bread, saying something unintelligible. Everyone else stared at him blankly. He sighed, swallowed his food, and repeated himself, "Undyne's gone kinda soft, I'm kind of surprised she's still captain." The former lieutenant gave him a disbelieving look. "I bet if she saw you two she might just give up, since Sans nearly killed her last time... that really put her in her place."
Frisk glanced at the smaller skeleton, seeing him shrink back some. His brother just shook his head in disbelief. The flower could understand it, it was nearly unthinkable to imagine Undyne as anything but the strict captain she had been for so long. "... So we have no idea where we're going to stay or what we're going to do?" Frisk asked, finding their question still unanswered.
Any of the monsters would have loved to tell them that they had a place, a plan, or even a sliver of hope, but no one could answer their question truthfully, so they chose not to answer at all.
...
After having resumed traveling for a while now, everyone had to abruptly stop and find a hiding spot. The dog pack Papyrus had mentioned was quickly approaching, walking toward their spot in the woods. Both Papyrus, who was still carrying his brother as well as both the bags, and Frisk, who was still carrying the flower, slipped behind the trees. The voices were still fairly distant, but both of knew it was better to go ahead and secure a hiding spot.
Before The voices became closer, Sans whispered something to Flowey. "If this goes bad, meet me at my lab behind the house." Flowey hesitated for a second before nodding. He drew back to better blend in with Frisk. The voices of the dogs were so close now, they could hear every word the were saying.
A chill went down their spine as they over heard laughter about their topic of conversation. Apparently one of them had killed a monster recently and they were now mocking their weakness. It took all of Frisk's self control to stay quiet. They couldn't believe that everything they had been told about the rest of the Underground was true. "Pfft," one of the dogs laughed, "I can't believe he thought he could beat me, ha!"
One of the other dogs laughed too, sounding more gruff and masculine than the previous voice. "Not only that, but he thought he would only have to go through one of us. That idiot got what he deserved." The next two dogs agreed with him. "Yeah," the first dog sighed. "But he got dust all over my axe..."
Papyrus saw the dog, which he recognized to be Doggoressa, use her cloak to wipe off the dust. He shuffled a bit to the left do they wouldn't spot him. He internally cringed when he saw her ears perk up and her face turn to his direction. He mentally slapped himself, he should have known better and now they were all doomed.
His brother noticed the tension in his form and became intently worried. He summoned what little magic he had, keeping it at bay for now but ready to draw upon when needed. The other two also noticed this. Frisk stiffened, unsure of what they should do. Flowey was silent and clever, taking a precaution. He slithered around Frisk, making himself look like a normal flower and sticking himself in their hair while his vines wrapped along their arms and legs. It looked like they were one monster, and with the striped shirt on it was unlikely the dogs would attack.
The other dogs found their eyes drawn to the same spot their pack mate was looking, staring intently at the two trees near the edge of the forest. Doggoressa grinned evilly, the rush of adrenaline from feeling her EXecution Points rise still there. She slowly walked over to the trees, stopping at the very edge of the pathway where the tree she was looking at stood in plain sight with nothing there to block her path.
In one swift motion, she raised her dust covered axe and threw it straight at the tree. It hit its target straight on, making Frisk stifle a scream. If they weren't in this situation, Papyrus might have laughed. While he was the one that moved, Doggoressa picked the tree Frisk was behind. It's not like this was any better for anyone, but he rolled his eyelights anyway. Doggoressa was losing her touch.
"I heard that, you know. I'd think about coming out now," the dog warned them. Frisk glanced over at the skeletons, who were also standing completely still now. Everyone was at a loss for what to do.
That was, until Flowey whispered in their ear, "Frisk, go out there." They didn't move. "Come on, they won't know you're a human, or from the Ruins. If you don't go, we'll all be captured!" Frisk started to move, but hesitated. Flowey wanted to bang his head on the tree trunk, if they didn't do this now, they would all be discovered.
"Please, Frisk, just pretend you're a monster child that got separated from their family, I'll help you, don't worry." Flowey was practically begging at this point. Hearing the desperation in his voice, Frisk took a deep breath, and stepped out from behind the tree.
The dogs stopped in their tracks, only a few feet from the trees now. They didn't lower their weapons though, which sort of concerned them. "What are you doing this far in the woods, kid?" One of the other dogs growled, lowering his weapon some. Frisk hesitated before they tried to find their voice. Even though their life depended on it, they hated to lie.
"I-I lost my family," they said quietly, changing their voice to make it sound different. "Someone took my mom and then-" they broke off as they reasoned they weren't lying. Unable to help themself, Frisk burst out crying and fell down to their knees. The memories were still to fresh and painful and they couldn't get themself to calm down. They needed their friends; they needed their mom.
The Dogs stared blankly for a moment before an evil smirk crept across their faces. Since the rush of gaining EXP was still active in her veins, Doggoressa could disregard it if this was a child. She could only think about getting to the next Level right now. "Don't worry, kid," Doggoressa told them while she raised her axe. A bolt of panic shot through Flowey and he desperately tried to get Frisk to open their eyes and move.
As the axe swung down at them, Frisk opened their eyes. They realized their mistake immeadantly and braced for the impact, knowing they weren't fast enough to dodge in time. However, the axe never reached them. A red bone shot into the axe, going through the metal and wrenching it from Doggoressa's grasp. She blinked, as if she didn't understand what just happened, just before she turned to the left and found her new attacker.
Sans winked with a struggled smile, "Guess who!" All the dogs stared in shock while Frisk took a few steps away. Dogamy growled at him and swung his axe, only to be hit hard with the handle of a knife on his head, knocking him out. He crumpled to the ground in front of the skeleton as the rest of the dogs looked up to see who had knocked one of their group unconcious.
Papyrus looked back at them, a stern expression on his skull. From old reflex, they shrunk a little under his gaze before remembering that they would be rewarded for his capture. With his blade pointing at the taller skeleton, Doggo lunged at him, only to be thrown to the ground. "We're back," Papyrus smirked.
Within a few seconds, the rest of the dogs were also sprawled out on the ground, each one of them unconscious. Between the skeletons and Flowey, the dogs were nowhere near a match, even with them being so weak and drained at the time. Papyrus walked over to one of the dogs' station and returned with a rope. After he made sure to remove them of all sharp objects, and gold, despite the fact that they probably wouldn't be able to use it, they were collectively tied to a large tree deeper within the forest.
"That will hold them for a while, hopefully for as long as we need to get out of Snowdin," he told them. Sans nodded along with Flowey and Frisk continued to wipe away their tears. They were calming down now, but were still scared and upset. Without any warning, two other voices started to become louder, coming closer by the second.
Papyrus grabbed his brother and ran into the trees across from Frisk. They slunk back into the other side of the forest just in time to see two other monsters, presumably members of the Royal Guard, run down the path, mentioning something about orders from Dulio and the Dogs currently being missing from their posts.
After a few minutes, Frisk deemed it safe to leave and slunk out from behind the trees. They didn't see Sans or Papyrus, and started to become worried. Flowey whispered to them to walk across the path and see if they were in the woods. They weren't there but there was a word written in the snow. It said 'Go'.

Ahhhhh! This update is much later than I would have liked! Sorry about that! I finished the chapter then went over to the lake and spent time with my family, but then I reread what I wrote and changed the whole thing, so that's why it's late. Although, I am working on my other project too, and the first preview will probably come out on Undertale's second anniversary! I can't wait for it! (September 15th, just so you know)
Anyway, thanks for reading! (And sorry for the shorter part!)
