I never wrote any of that for you. I know that I told you that I did--I named the titles after you and told all our friends that they were about you. You loved the attention.
But I never really wrote those for you. I'm sorry, but you never owned my heart. I suppose that was the cruelest thing I did to you: to make you think you got even close to me when you were so, so far away.
I wrote those for Her. Everyone started assuming I meant you, but I never meant you. I was writing eulogies to a dead girl, that's all. She was my Her, but now I have finally come to a point when I don't think about Her anymore.
Now I write for her, and she is lovely in every way that you were not and that She was not.
But sometimes I don't even write for her. Sometimes I just write for me.
Mostly, that's all I do. Write poems to myself, beautiful and chilling love and heartbreak songs--because I'm trying to fall in love with myself instead of planting seeds of hatred.
I rarely write for Her. I sometimes write for her, but I never wrote for you...Except when I told you goodbye.
