Dick stayed as compliant as possible while he waited for Bruce's decision on whether or not he was worth keeping and if he could regain custody of him. Cheshire was who Talia thought would work best as a handler for the time being, so it was no surprise when the woman had entered his room with a custom League of Shadows uniform, complete with weapons.

He sighed before getting ready and meeting his new family in the main hall for his first assignment.

Dick shifted as he surveyed the building across from him, adjusting the new equipment that was strapped in strategic places around his body. He was aware of the Shadows posted around the area to make sure he didn't get sidetracked or fail the mission but also laughed to himself at how much his new mother wanted to piss off Bruce.

After being given the signal through his comm, he quickly grappled his way to the other building. He unnecessarily hacked past the advanced security system he helped set up before moving to the edge of the roof. Securing a grapple to the A in the lit-up Wayne on the top of the building, he lowered himself down to three floors. Sighting the target console in the high-end lab, he brought out the glass cutter and began removing a section of the bulletproof glass.

The wind gusted around him and tried to throw him away from his work but he used his regular training from Batman to keep himself in place. He climbed inside after he removed the glass and lay it on the floor inside and moved silently towards the large computer. He imputed the USB drive and quickly hacked his way to the project's details.

He started the file transfer and walked around as he tried to ignore the familiar presence brush his mind. Nothing could interfere, too much was at stake. He stood guard over the computer and waited, wishing that he could call out the team to stand down or fiddle with his hands behind his back. Neither was an option since there was no cape on this suit to hide the fiddling under and the specialized muzzle secured to his face was keeping him in line for the time being. Safety precautions, his mother had said, he was no use if his sass gave away their secrets or the plan.

Instead, he took out the silenced gun strapped to one of his thighs and fiddled with the safety on it. He watched as water was being guided towards his feet and quickly shot at the stream where it was coming out from behind a corner.

He shook his head in warning towards the source and put the weapon away before pulling a sword to fiddle with instead. Bullets don't work on arrows and speedsters if you want to stay nonlethal. The katana glinted dangerously in the glow from the computer.

His eyes were mostly uncovered as he scanned his surroundings since the mask he was supposed to wear didn't fit over the muzzle, but that didn't stop him from noticing the glint of the sharpened arrow that was aimed for his head. They expected him to move. He didn't.

Kid Flash raced across his vision just in time to grab the arrow and Dick suppressed a smirk. He didn't want to fight his old friends so he used every diversion tactic he knew to avoid them directly confronting him. The lack of use of his voice was a hindrance but the fact that he practically lived with them gave him the edge he needed to hopefully leave without anyone being hurt.

The download's progress seemed to be slower than usual from the tension in the air. Dick knew they would be forced to fight once the progress reached 90% at the latest.

He stood silently with the weapon at his side.

He knew they were setting up for a takedown as he heard them shuffle around the room but he didn't move since Wally would remove the drive as soon as he stepped away.

He knew they weren't waiting for the tens to reach 9 and tensed in anticipation.

He was right.

A violent arm of glowing water lashed out to grab at him and he dodged. Artemis' trick arrows made their way into his path and another at the computer to stop the progress, Dick used his sword to deflect the one going to the computer as he let the other one release the net around him. Quickly he pulled a smaller knife and cut the wire and rope netting and put out a foot to trip Kid Flash before getting up.

The younger flipped away as Miss Martian sent a chair towards him and threw down a pellet that released a goo to keep Kid Flash down.

"Robin stop," Kaldur tried to command him with his water bearers raised. Dick wanted to and it showed when he hesitated but he quickly shook his head before darting away from the clone that was grabbing at him from behind.

He grunted in pain when one of Artemis' arrows caught him by surprise and electrocuted him but held his ground against passing out. Superboy and Aqualad took the opportunity to grab him from behind and use the water to keep his legs from lashing out.

Dick struggled to get away but Conner's grip held Kryptonian strong, as expected. He tried to plead but the vocal restrictor did as it was designed and let only frantic muffles be heard.

A/N Whoops a small cliff hanger. Don't mind me gearing up for some good angst to come.

Dick's new name will be in the next chapter so look out for that. Also note the muzzle I'm talking about is similar to the one Loki has in Avengers.
