Chapter 7

The Seventh Sister's POV

Ezra steered the Phantom to a docking bay near the main political buildings on Coruscant. He then showed me where he had cloaks stashed in the ship and we each took one.

As soon as we stepped out of the ship, the plan went into action.

I nodded to Ezra as he went left and I went right from the entrance to the docking bay.

I peered out from under my dark hood as I passed stores with the lights off and drunken aliens stumbling through the alleyways. It was very late, perfect to break into the temple.

I walked through the streets to the direction of the temple. Ezra and I were supposed to come around on two sides of the temple.

We had decided someone would need to be ready to start a distraction just in case something went wrong. And usually, something always went wrong.

So, Ezra would be entering through one of the vents that lead into the library so he could figure out what had changed within the ranks of inquisitors. If the red blade in Ezra's dream was anyone, they would be listed in the ranks.

Possibly a new Grand Inquisitor would be the new threat. Whoever it was, I could hopefully narrow it down to a couple of inquisitors.

My job was to stand by near the inquisitors' quarters in case Ezra was having trouble. I clutched my duel-bladed lightsaber in my belt. Hopefully, Ezra wouldn't need a distraction.

Finally, I made it to the old Jedi Temple. I grabbed the com on my belt. "Ready?" I asked into it.

"Plan engaged now," came the reply. Ezra was entering the vent.

I pressed a button on my wristpad and a probe droid engaged itself. "Be my eyes up there," I said to the droid, pointing to the tallest parts of the temple. "And do not be seen."

The droid beeped a few words of recognition before floating away. I bunched up my muscles before jumping up to a ledge a few feet up.

As silent as the breeze, I crept along the ledge, making my ways over to the inquisitors' quarters. Finally, I made it.

I croached on the far side of the windows, still on the ledge. All of the inquisitors' quarters were on my left, so I would have an easy escape if I needed to cause a distraction.

I sat, waiting. The only thing you could hear was the distant rumble of speeders from late night partiers who were starting to go home.

After a while of hearing nothing from the inside of the temple, or Ezra on the comlink, I sighed and engaged another one of my droids.

"Go find Ezra. Stay with him and follow his instructions. Make sure nothing happens," I told to the waiting droid.

As the droid quickly glided off, I brought up a holomap of the temple from my wristpad. A small red dot representing the droid I had deployed to find Ezra was currently on its way to the far side of the temple.

As I watched the droid's progress, a sound from the temple disturbed the silence. I quickly turned off the map and stayed still.

At first, I thought the noises were just my imagination, but then I heard voices. They were coming from the quarters nearest to me. I crept closer in order to hear what they were saying.

"The position will not be open for much longer," a deep, menacing voice said.

"The issue with the Fifth Brother and Seventh Sister was only a minor setback, " said a slightly higher but equally menacing voice.

Position? What position?

"We need to find a way to get the others out of the way," the first voice said.

"And what exactly do you plan to do, Ninth Brother?" The second voice asked.

"Oh, Eighth Sister, it will certainly be a good one."

I tensed as I heard the names. The Eighth Sister and Ninth Brother were two lower ranked inquisitors than I am. . .was.

They never stopped trying to show up the Fifth Brother and I when we were hunting the rebels. But Darth Vader was never quite as impressed with them, and they never forgot it.

I continued listening to them, hoping to figure out information as to who the red blade was.

"If this is a competition, why not get rid of the other competitors?" The Ninth Brother asked.

"And how do you propose to do that?" The Eighth Sister asked.

"Well, that is what we need to figure out then, isn't it?"

"Sometimes I wonder if you have anything in that head of yours."

As I listened to their conversation, my wristpad beeped. I quickly covered it with my hand to muffle the sound. I stayed still, waiting to see if the inquisitors had heard it.

Thankfully, they hadn't, that or they thought it was a sound from the city. I looked on my wristpad to see what it said.

Meet me at library.

I frowned at the message sent from Ezra.

Why did I need to meet him at the library?

I raced across the ledge to where I had jumped on. I jumped down to the ground and made my qay to Ezra.

《~》

"What is it?" I asked as soon as I found Ezra. He was in the library at a terminal station.

"What took you so long?" Ezra asked.

"I was trying to go unnoticed," I retorted.

"Whatever. Look at this," Ezra said.

I looked at the terminal to see what Ezra was pointing at.

"They locked down all the systems?" I asked in disbelief.

"Think you can crack this inquisitor code?"

"I can try."

I turned to the droid I had with me and the droid who was with Ezra. I ordered the one that was with Ezra to plug in.

"What are you doing exactly?" Ezra asked.

"I might be able to make it so the droid can download all the information. That way, we get out of here quicker," I explained.

"Well, hurry."

I typed away on the terminal. I bypassed firewall after firewall. How secure did they make these things?

Finally, after a few minutes, I managed to download the information on the droid. These inquisitors were just too predictable on their coding.

"Got it!" I exclaimed to Ezra as the droid unplugged.

"Great. Let's get out of here," Ezra said quickly.

I quickly shut down the terminal and followed Ezra to the vent we had both entered through. I went first, with Ezra behind, closing the entrance to the vent.

"Do you think anyone saw anything?" Ezra asked as we exited the vent onto a ledge a few feet off the ground.

"Hopefully not," I replied.

"Discover anything before you came to help me?" Ezra asked as we jumped to the ground.

"Yes, but it was just two inquisitors I once knew."

"Who are they?"

"The Eighth Sister and Ninth Brother. Rivals of mine before I left the Empire. It seems as if there has been no new Grand Inquisitor yet, they were discussing about getting the others out of the way."

"Let's check them out."

"What?"

"I want to see these two."

"I doubt that they are still talking."

"Maybe we will be lucky."

"I have a bad feeling about this."

"Doesn't everyone?"
