Blizzards Pt.1

It was a cold, wintry night. A light snow settled around Mt. Everest. The snowfall almost had this happy air to it, for the king was in a jovial mood. His beautiful wife had given birth to an equally beautiful daughter.

Down in the village, the humble villagers were preparing a party to welcome the young queen. They had a huge fire blazing in the town square, its intensity almost matching their high spirits. The shops and homes were adorned with snowflakes, from nature and craft. Everything was going good and everyone was happy.

The king proudly presented his citizens, Snowflake. From her mother's arms, she looked out at the world for the first time. Townspeople roared their approval for who would be their queen one day. He bent over to his wife, Winter, and whispered in her ear. "Look at how they adore her so! When her reign comes, the people will surely follow her!!"

Winter just nodded and looked down at the pink-fleshed bundle in her arms.

Time passed, roughly eighteen years, and that little pink bundle became a strikingly majestic young women. "Mother!", Snow called, skipping through the castle halls. "Come help me practice my ice element for the ceremony!"

It was custom that every born royal in the Everest line practiced and honed their abilities for the coronation. For the men, it was snow element and for the women, it was ice element. As tradition states, each newly coronated royal was to make a sculpture for their townspeople at their own coronation. It was a symbol of their power and how well they could provide for the people.

Snow was having a very difficult time mastering her ability. Since she was a product of a marriage outside of the Everest line, her powers were taking a while to mature, or perfect. Her father was a prince of the Himalayan Kingdom. Regardless, she practiced day and night but feared that her powers would never be fulfilled...

Meanwhile, somewhere else in the castle, a very powerful young women; roughly the same age as Snow, was plotting how to come into power. In this line of royals, the women were the rulers, not the men. And she felt that she was a perfect match. This young woman's name was Grey. A cousin to Snow, and she was ready to do anything to take the throne.

Oblivious to her cousin's actions, Snow gratefully accepted Grey's offer for help. "My cousin, I thank you so much! This will definitely help me complete the ceremony!" Snow said, full of happiness.

Grey was all smiles on the outside but, inside she couldn't wait to get rid of the beautiful, young princess. "Oh absolutely!", she gushed, "You'll have the most beautiful sculpture anyone has ever seen!"

And, of course, Snow believed her for no one ever wished ill against her. She was the gem of the kingdom, everyone loved the princess since the day the king showed her to the people almost sixteen years ago.

Expect Grey.

Snow practiced and practiced,on and on. It was finally, the night before the coronation, and she was no closer to making a decent snowflake than she was to making a gorgeous sculpture. It was almost as if her powers were being weaker...

And they were. Yet again, Grey is to blame. Remember earlier when we said Grey wanted Snow gone? She wanted her gone like, really bad. So where there is snow element and ice element, there is also the same concept for the other elements. And Grey, found a master of the elements, gone rogue. A man committed to going against all the magic societies. She asked this man to make a crystal, same size as one of the minor gems in Snow's crown. As you can probably all guess, Grey replaced the very well replicated fake gem with the real one.

So what does the gem do? It takes the powers of one holder and transfers it to another. Grey also got herself a nice pair of crystal earrings that night.

Panicked, Snow ran to Grey's room only hours before she was to get ready for the coronation.
