Zlelzon pov-
I was upset, my poor pet was missing. What if she was hurt or taken. There were reptilians out there that hurt humans, or worse. I let out a cry of anger, jumping the fence.

Running, hoping that Piper was close and I could bring her back quickly. But she hadn't eaten her lunch, she had probably wandered for hours.

The few reptilians I passed, and asked of a stray human given me sneers and warnings that I should have kept the filthy beast better contained. That any stray human would end up at the pound. I was angry each time, but didn't have time to yell at them and tell them Piper wasn't like that. I needed to go to the pound and check on his pet.

If she was there, her outcome wasn't good. I ran across town, bursting through the doors, and over to the desk with a squat toadan sat behind the desk, chin inflating with each breath. I fought the urge to back up and leave, not sure why toadans always made me nervous. Maybe it was the weird legs, or their unrelenting appetite that even made small reptilians part of their diet in the past, or the fact that they weren't Reptilians at all.  But I stayed, I had a pet to find!
"Have any humans been brought in?" I asked, a bit breathless as I described what she had been wearing, and what she looked like.
The toadan shook his head, shifting lightly to the side, tongue shooting out to grab a beetle that was climbing over the desk. If it was a pest or a brought lunch, I didn't ask. "None today," he croaked.

Sighing, running back out and towards the end of town, and the desert that spread westward. My heart sank at little footprints heading into it, it wouldn't end well.

Harper pov

I was so thirsty, not thinking to ration the water. The thought that Blue would always gets me more water kept coming to mind, but I shook it off. I wasn't going back, and becoming his lap dog!

Pushing myself on, the sun beat down, and I'd soon sweated through my clothes, and fallen so many times on loose sand that I was coated in the pale orange grains. I whimpered, again wondering if I should go back.

A sound echoed off the dunes, and a forceful gust of air forced sand into my face as I tried to turn away. But the wind only got stronger.

When it finally stopped, a vehicle was parked in front of me, and a tall figure was out standing against it. A figure I knew well!

Another Pov-

The little human tried to run, but my long legs caught up quickly, and I was holding it tight to my chest. It squeaked, and fell limp, shaking in fear. "You remember," i coo'd to her. "I can't believe I found you again, guess you ran from Zlelzon, you dumb human." I turned, throwing her in the back of the vehicle, as I got into drive. "I moved into my sister's place, we aren't far from there, let's go see her." I chatted at the human, knowing she couldn't understand, but feeling so happy to see her again. "Since you left, I got in serious trouble. Had to move, can't own pets, but my sister certainly does. I'm sure she'd add you to her collection. I still have your old cage." I drove off, still chatting to the human.
