"calum, i can't do this any more!" luke screamed into the pillow his face was pressed into. he pulled at his hair, trying to stop the tears that were forcing themselves out of his eyes.

"luke, what would he want? he wants you to be happy." calum soothed him, rubbing circles on his back.

"i'm not happy cal. i miss him." luke whined, turning over so he was looking at the ceiling.

"i know." calum sighed, not knowing what to say.

"not being with him makes me sad." luke whispered, wiping away his tears.

"i know luke. i'm sorry." calum whispered once again, and a silence fell between them. however, it wasn't an awkward silence. it was soothing. peaceful.

the kind of silence the two boys craved.
