3: Psycho
Melvin stole fries from everyone's plates, having already shoveled down his own plateful.
Bakura didn't care much, but Marik made countless, fruitless attempts to swat at Melvin's hand. This only prompted Melvin to want to steal them even more.
Eventually, Marik stopped and just pushed his plate toward him. "Just frigging take them, you jackass!"
Melvin only laughed. "I'm just having fun, Marik, don't take it so personally."
Bakura just took a handful and stuffed them into his mouth. "You guys are pathetic." He said, spitting some at them with his words.
Marik huffed. "You're just going to watch? This was not how I was planning to spend my afternoon, Bakura! I could've been at home doing so many better things than just sitting here while Melvin steals my food!"
"Really?" Melvin spoke before Bakura had a chance. "And what exactly would you be doing? Reading yaoi?"
Melvin laughed as Marik's face reddened. "N-no!" He stammered. "Just...oh, frig off, Melvin!"
Bakura snickered. "Marik, if you really want to leave, you can just take my car." He took the keys from his pocket and jingled them in front of Marik to see. "I don't want a single scratch on it, though. Or else I will brutally slaughter you."
Marik snatched them from his hands. "What about you?"
"Melvin can drive me home."
Melvin only shot him a look. He hadn't been alone with Bakura for months, he wasn't sure what to expect.
Skeptical and hesitant, but unquestioningly, he moved from his seat. "I'm not paying my share, since Melvin ate it." Marik began to walk away. He looked back, though, making sure Bakura knew what he was doing. Never ever had Bakura let him use his car, so whatever he was doing was obviously something that he needed Marik gone for.
He'd bring it up later, but Marik definitely wouldn't with Melvin present to intervene.
So he just left without another word.
Needing to wait a bit for Marik to vacate the premises, they both relaxed in their seats. "So." Melvin began, not really sure how to start a conversation. "How's life?"
"I had to deal with all your shit when you got to hang out at your cushy madhouse."
"My shit?" Melvin was no longer smiling and laughing. "Are you talking about the car?"
"Yes. And a month or two's worth of your rent. And that your apartment had actual mold."
"You cleaned my apartment?" Melvin wanted to strangle him for the lemon stench. "Where the hell did you put my razors?"
"They rusted, I threw them out."
"And you didn't get me any more?"
Bakura scoffed at him. "You realize how much money I've spent on your upkeep, right? You owe me, big time."
Melvin turned to eat the rest of Marik's fries. He could feel Bakura's eyes on him, which made him chew faster.
"Melvin. I'm not done talking to you."
"I'm done listening." He uttered. "You know, considering how much you care about me financially, you don't seem to care emotionally. I just got out of an institution, Ra's sake, and this is how I'm greeted for finally fitting society's standards?"
Bakura spoke quietly so no other tables would hear. "You killed someone, Melvin. You weren't on some school trip, nor did you wake from a coma. You got the not-prison option of a felony. You should consider yourself lucky."
"If by lucky, you mean hearing doctors talk only about my childhood and proceed to make me swallow what looks and tastes like chalk, then yeah. I was lucky."
"I mean lucky as in you had a bed to sleep in, no worries of an inmate strangling you in your sleep. You didn't have to like it, but you have to admit it could've been so much worse."
Melvin shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "So you stopped me to tell me about the debt I can't afford right now?"
Bakura sighed. "I wanted to try and tell you that I've been trying too hard to keep everything as it was before you left. Your apartments gonna be pissed, yeah, but I don't have all the money in the world to baby you."
And what he was getting at was true, now that Melvin technically knew what society was going to ask of him, but now he had to maintain that position through work and taxes. He hated to admit it, but the institution didn't have that stress hanging over his head.
"It was weird while you were gone," Bakura spoke, snapping him out of his daze. "It's like a spider. You know, you're thinking to yourself, when's he gonna show up again?"
Melvin laughed. It was good to know he was generally missed by someone.
About ten minutes pass, and finally Bakura pays and Melvin "promises" to pay him back. Bakura knew that was pure bullshit, but he didn't say anything.
Finally they start walking towards Melvin's car, both of their hands in their pockets. Finally they get in their seats and shut their doors.
Melvin started the car for the heater to fight the cold that was starting to set in, and he turned to Bakura and asked, "So, I'm driving you home?"
Bakura shot him a glance. "You don't even know where I live."
"I figured you could tell me where to go?" He looked at Bakura's eyes, watching them flicker from the door to Melvin to his shoes.
"Or...or not."
"Look..." Bakura was reluctant this time around. "...let's not do it like we used to, alright? I don't want to go very far."
"Aw, you missed me, didn't you?" Melvin cooed, laughing as Bakura's face flared up in red.
"Shut up," he said, then he turned to face him. "Just do it already.
Melvin pulled Bakura's shoulders toward himself, kissing him hungrily. The feeling of cool skin against his face was sobering. Tangling his fingers in Bakura's hair was second nature by now.
When he pulled away, he noticed he was struggling to catch his breath.
"Wow." Melvin said, knowing Bakura hated words in a moment like this but he said them anyway. "You really did miss me."
"Oh, don't flatter yourself." Bakura grumbled. "I could've kissed you harder if I wanted to."
"Then why didn't you?"
He shrugged. "Did you think we're done already?"
*****
Melvin's bed was barely big enough for two people.
This was nothing new for either of them; these hookups had been going on for months, only now it was already lesser in intensity because Bakura wasn't up to going all the way tonight.
Melvin assumed Bakura really missed him, though. Bakura seemed to get really pissy when no one was touching him. And since Melvin had been in an asylum for months on end, Bakura must've been lacking.
The thing about this, was that Melvin never did this with anyone else. He knew Bakura personally, knew what he liked, how to do what he liked. It was easier to stick with him, even if he wasn't all for it all the time.
So, though he hated to admit it, he was always waiting for Bakura to feel horny again, so that he could feel happy around him.
Although, happy and pleased weren't the same thing. Pleasure was just from the sex itself, which Melvin didn't particularly mind. But happiness...it was different.
He could openly discuss murder with Bakura. He wouldn't run away, terrified. Well, okay, sometimes he'd flinch when he picked up a sharp object, but other than that he was pretty calm.
After the sex was just where it all went to hell.
First off, they slept on opposite sides of the bed. Bakura was never really a fan of the non-sexual touching, even something as simple as an arm around him while he slept. Melvin thought this was ironic.
Second, Bakura didn't want kisses or hugs. The gentler, fluffier type of physical affection was too much. Melvin craved to try them though, but his partner didn't want it and he had to respect that.
Third, in the morning and without a goodbye or a note, Bakura would leave. Melvin would just keep sleeping without any notice of when Bakura would go, or when they'll meet up again.
Melvin didn't know why he wanted more so badly, but he did. There was this emptiness inside himself that couldn't be filled with a night of fun. He wanted to reach out to Bakura and hold him, kiss him, and maybe sleep next to him properly.
But what they had right now was the closest Melvin was to anyone.
So he was just going to take what he wanted and not complain.
Why?
Because he was convinced there was no one else who could be close to him, not be scared of him, and actually accept him for who he was.

This chapter was probably the most sexual thing I have ever written, and I don't plan to improve.
Sorry y'all had to see that
Because I don't plan for it to be like this in other chapters
