Chapter One

"Taylor, can you get the door?" Layla says from the bathroom.

"Yeah." She yells back going down the stairs. She opens the door and her brother has his arms open wide.

"There's my favoritest girl in the world." He says pulling her into him. She laughs and pushes him off of her. "No, where's my other girl?" He asks walking into the apartment.

"She's in the bathroom getting all pretty for someone." She says and he chuckles.

"Better be for me." He says taking the stairs two at a time. Taylor takes her time and smiles as she hears Layla's scream. Once Taylor's up the stairs she sees the two wrestling on the floor over what she thinks is a phone.

Taylor gets up on the counter and watches with amusement. "Taylor, help me." He says. She shakes her head laughing. "Trader." He says as Layla takes him to the floor.

Taylor laughs again and turns her head when they start kissing. "Get a room, and it'd better not be mine." She says covering her eyes.

"You're such a baby," Layla says.

"You see your best friend and brother make out and tell me if I'm being a baby." She shoots back. Layla and Leland roll their eyes at her.

"How's college been?" Leland asks looking at both girls.

"Fine," Taylor says with a shrug.

"It's been good, I'll be helping at the hospital after we get back," Layla says with a bright smile.

"That's awesome." He says and looks back at Taylor.

"So, have you meet anyone?" He asks. Taylor rolls her eyes at him.

"Nope, just hanging around." She says and he nods.

"Good, because Mathew was a prick and I don't feel like having to go back to jail for starting a fight." He says with and angered look on his face.

"Well if you wouldn't have stomped up to him and without warning throw a punch, then maybe he wouldn't have called the police. Oh, and it didn't help that you continued to beat his ass." Taylor says giving her brother a look.

"He hurt my baby sister, he deserved everything I gave him." He says.

"Yeah, I agree. I'm glad he had to go to the hospital." Layla says wrapping her arms around Leland. Taylor notices how he relaxes at Layla and smiles.

"Well, you two wanna watch a movie?" Taylor asks hopping off the counter.

"Sure," They both say.

"How about She's the Man?" Layla says. Knowing Leland doesn't have a say, he gets comfortable.

"Yeah," Taylor says walking back to her room to grab a blanket and a pillow. Once she gets back into the living room she gets comfortable.

"Ready?" Leland asks.

"Yup."

~~~~~
"Wake up sleepyheads," Taylor says shaking Layla and Leland. Leland groans and Layla turns into him. "Come on, everyone's coming tomorrow and we haven't even packed."
"Yow haven't paacked?" I hear Leland mumble into the pillow.
"Nope, so get your asses up," Taylor says pulling the blankets and turning away from them.
"Are you two decent?" Taylor asks keeping her eyes closed. She has ever since she saw something she never wants to see again.
"Maybe." She hears Leland say.
"Layla." She says in a warning voice.
"We aren't naked." She hears and opens her eyes. True to her word they aren't naked, but Layla's only in Leland's t-shirt and he's only in boxers.
"Get some clothes on Leland and come help us," Taylor says pulling Layla off the bed. She mumbles something, but Taylor doesn't care. "Go grab your suitcase, it's in the front closet." She says giving Layla a light push.
"Yes, mom." She says. Taylor laughs shaking her head. She grabs some shorts and throws them at Layla as she walks down the hallway.
"Cover some of the booty." Taylor says grabbing clothes for her to pack.
"But everyone loves my booty." She hears Layla say.
"But only I can have it." She hears Leland say.
"Ok, enough." She shouts covering her ears. She hears their chuckles as she shakes her head. She goes back to packing trying to remember everything.
~~~~~

"You want me to grab what?" Taylor asks standing on the counter looking for what she'd described.

"That cooler above the cupboards," Layla shouts from her room and over the stereo.

"Of course because I can reach that." She mumbles looking up at white cupboards. She huffs and then hears the doorbell. "Layla, can you get it?" She asks grabbing stuff to make herself taller.

She hears Layla's jogging feet go down to the door. "Hey, I forgot you were coming early." She hears Layla say.

"Oh, thanks cuz." She hears a muffled male voice. Taylor focuses back to the cooler and stands up on the two glass cups to try and reach the cooler. She's still just a little too short. She looks down at the glasses and carefully goes on her tip toes. "Hey, what are you doing?" She hears. She grabs the handle of the cooler and pulls it down with one hand holding onto the top of the cupboards so she doesn't fall off.

She ends up slipping with the weight difference and ends up falling to the floor. She hits the ground and her back goes into someone. They catch her around the waist and stabilize her. "Oh, I'm sorry." She says turning to look up at the person. He drops his hands looking down at her.

"Do you have a deathwish?" He asks with raised eyebrows. Taylor looks up at him confused and shakes her head. "You sure about that?" He asks.

"Taylor if you were having so much trouble you should have called me, not almost killed yourself," Layla says grabbing the glasses that Taylor was standing on.

"I would have just fallen on my butt and I did ask, but you didn't want to help your short friend out." She says glaring over at her.

"Wow, gonna let your roommate just fall, so nice." He says turning back to Layla.

"Ok, just blame me, I see how it is." She says throwing her hands up. Taylor smiles before walking over to her and giving her a hug.

"I still love you." She says and Layla smiles.

"Good because you're stuck with me." She says hugging Taylor back. "Anyway, Taylor, Austin, and vice versa." She says waving her hands.

"I was wondering if you still existed. She talks so much about you, but I haven't seen you in forever." He says and she shrugs.

"I don't just have make believe friends Austin," Layla says putting her hands on her hips. Taylor looks at both of them and laughs as she realizes Layla is taller than him. Layla is 5'11 though and makes everyone look short.

"Well, you never know..." He drags on. Layla slaps him and goes back to packing. Taylor laughs and hears the door again. She goes down the stairs and opens it for her brother. He had to go and get something from the store.

She closes it and then follows him up the stairs. "Oh, hey Austin. Didn't know you were coming early." Leland says setting the bags on the counter. Taylor walks over and begins to take the things out from the bags.

"Yeah, I didn't want to wait at home for another day bored. Figured I'd come over and see my rude cousin. She tried to kill Taylor." He says glancing over at her.

"Honey, what did you do to my baby sister?" He says and then they hear.

"I didn't do crap, she's the daredevil." Leland looks back over at his sister in question.

"The cooler was on top of the cupboards so I climbed up to get them." She says with a shrug.

"Yeah, but she was standing on two tall glasses and fell off," Austin adds. Taylor looks over at him and then back to her overprotective brother.

"You did what? Taylor, you could have seriously hurt yourself. Did you hurt yourself on the fall?" He says walking over to Taylor to exam her.

"Leland I'm fine, Austin caught me before I fell onto the floor." She says pushing her brother away from her. Leland looks at Austin and back to Taylor with his eyes narrowed.

"Well, thanks Austin for not letting her crack her head open." He says. Austin nods with a shrug.

"Couldn't have that. Then instead of going on our trip, we'd be stuck in a hospital." He says. Leland nods before walking down the hallway. Taylor notices how he watches Austin with a strange look.

She shakes it off and begins putting the rest of the food and random things he bought away. She opens the top cabinet and gets ready to put the dishes away when Austin grabs the plates. "I'll get them." He says reaching up to the shelf. Taylor slides past him and begins putting the silverware away.

She notices Austin's watching her, but she doesn't look up at him. She continues to put the dishes away and leaves the stuff she can't reach for last. She hops up on the counter and reaches to grab the other tupperware. Once everything's put away she hops down. "Taylor, where's my jacket?" They both hear.

"You're gonna have to be more specific," Taylor says back as Layla comes into the kitchen.

"My white one, it's really soft and cute." She says with her hands on her hips.

"That's your description of everything, but it might be in the wash. I just put the clothes in the drier." Taylor responds walking over to her room. She begins checking her closet to make sure she didn't wear it.

"Yup, it's in the dryer. Thanks, Tay." She hears.

"No problem, Lay." She says smiling at her kid nicknames. She turns and sees Austin standing outside her door.

He looks around and notices how clean it is. Everything seems to have a spot. He looks up at pictures of her and Layla on the walls. He sees her dark purple suitcase on the floor still open. He notices the neat black dresser in the corner with more pictures. They aren't people he recognizes but assumes they're of her family. He looks over to her closet were she stands and sees that nothing's on the floor. "You like being neat?" He questions.

"It's only neat because I had to pack." She says and then opens the other side of her closet to show him clothes and other things on the floor. He laughs and she smiles.

Leland then comes into the doorway. He glances at Austin before looking back at Taylor. "Mom's on the phone. See what's to talk to you." He says holding his phone out.

"Why doesn't anyone ever just call me?" She asks grabbing the phone.

"Because you never answer." He says. Taylor just rolls her eyes and puts the phone to her ears.

"Hi, Mom." She says taking a seat on her bed. She watches as the two boys exit her room talking about something.

"Hi, sweetpea. How's everything going?" She asks

"Good, why did you want to talk to me?" She asks looking out her window to see two kids chasing after something.

"Just wanted to know if you were still going on the trip?" She hears her mother's questioning hopeful voice.

"Yes, Mom, it's my van that we're using," Taylor says watching the two kids.

"Oh, that's good. Ok, well I love you. Be safe and stay out of trouble." She warns.

"We'll be fine Mom, bye love you." She says and ends the call. She gets up and walks down to Layla's room. She sees Layla on the bed looking at two bikinis. "Go with the dark blue." She says startling Layla.

"Knock or something, holy crap." She says holding her hand to her heart.

"Sorry, where's my brother?" She asks looking around the room.

"He should be in the living room and are you sure about the dark blue?" She asks looking at both.

"That one's sexier than the red one." Layla looks back down at them and then nods.

"You're right, what would I do without?" She says dramatically.

"Have to pick out your own clothes." She says laughing at Layla's reaction. She walks back out of the room and down the short hallway to the living room. The two boys are watching something. "Leland." She says getting his attention. She tosses him his phone back before sitting on the floor. They only have a loveseat, but Taylor never minds sitting on the floor. "What are we watching?"

"The Legend of Tarzan," Leland replies.

"Let me guess because of Margot Robbie?" She asks glancing back over at him. He looks at her confused. "Harley Quinn." She says and he smiles.

"I just wanted to see if she was a good actress, she's better in Suicide Squad." He mumbles and Taylor shakes her head.

"Why, because in Suicide Squad she was in like bikini bottoms and a tight shirt," I say knowing it's true.

"What, no. She just...acted better in it." He struggles to get the lie out.

"Sure," Taylor says knowing he's lying. She looks back at the TV and can feel Austin's eyes on her. He's starting to make her nervous and she doesn't like it.
