call me brutal but it had to be done
what they did was far out of line
their apathy and lack of remorse
is a flaw that has aged like wine

their ambition faces a steep decline
as life nibbles on their many souls
craving for forgiveness so divine
reliving mistakes dusted and old

back and forth they pace about
in a fashion so foolish its absurd
they never seem to figure it out
as hesitation relentlessly lurked

once upon a time decades ago
a group of friends got together
they collaborated to stay afloat
and it seemed to go on forever

however with success comes greed
followed by betrayal and discontent
more of a want rather than a need
breeding evil and malicious intent

with friendships now falling apart
and hurt exchanged at every blow
they could no longer play any part
ending their ties on an all time low

just like that their business fell
beyond redemption and saving
all they do is go around and tell
the pity story that one is craving

those who craved are the damned
who attempt to exploit your grief
and convince you to invest in them
out of an extremely familiar greed

the cycle repeats all over again
with dissatisfaction at its centre
so will you stop to make a friend
or will this continue on forever ?
