My eyes pop open, as a scream makes its way out of my mouth. I feel sharp pain all over my body, I frantically look around the room, it's not one I recognize. It seems to be a hospital, that's probably why I hear a beep right in my ear.

The room is big, with white walls, making it bright in here. The tv is playing something about animals. Only one person I know watches shows about animals. I try to sit up, but the pain in my back is way too extreme, making me gasp.

"Oh, you're awake." A voice says besides me and I jump. I didn't know anyone was in here with me. I also didn't finish looking around the room before I tried to sit up.

I turn and see its Ace. "I-Yeah. Where is Mia and Mason?" I struggle to get out because my throat is dry. His eyes are softer, his hair is a mess. I wonder how long it's been since he's taken a shower.

"We haven't found Mia, we think she's been kidnapped, and Mason is getting us food. Your family was here a bit ago, but they went back home to get some rest. You've been out for almost 4 days." As he says all of this, my heart sinks and my eyes start to water. My best friend was kidnaped?

"How long have you and Mason been here with me?" I ask him with a shaky breath. This is too much to handle. I've been in 2 accidents in less than a week, and my best friend is missing.

"I've been here the whole time, Mason leaves occasionally to go help find Mia, but he's usually here with you." I can understand why Mason would be here but why Ace?

"I want to go home." I sit up, ignoring the pain in my back, I rip out the IV and all of the other cords connecting me to the loud machine in my ear. Ace stands up to stop me, but I send him my bitchest look and he sits back down.

"Adina, you need to calm down." I don't know why he is telling me this, I am completely calm. I just need to go home and sleep in my own bed, or I need to go look for Mia.

"Adina, look at me for a second." Ace raises his voice at me and I flinch but look at him.

"I told you something was going to happen and you didn't believe me, so maybe you will believe me now." He looks at me with pleading eyes. I can't say anything. He is right. He did tell me something was going to happen. He has wings for god's sake.

"What do you want me to tell you that you're right? Well your fucking right." My knees feel weak as I try to think about everything he told me days ago, everything he showed me.

"If I'm supposed to change into what I was 'destined' to be, why haven't I yet?" I ask him and he sighs, running a hand through his hair.

"Because you already are." I couldn't help but laugh. I haven't changed at all, I'm still a girl with legs and arms and hair.

"Go look in the mirror at your back." He points to the mirror behind me and I walk to it with confidence. He's playing some sick joke to mess with my head.

"I swear you're delusional." I tell him, looking at myself in the mirror. My eyes have bags under them, my lip is busted but clearly healing. My hair is a huge rat's nest, damn I really look bad.

I turn around and move my hospital gown so I can see my back. What I see looking back at me has me shaking in fear. There is no way this is real. He put makeup on me while I was sleeping so he could finish this sick trick.

I see two holes in my back that have two bones growing out of them. It looks absolutely disgusting. This must be why my back is hurting so much.

"See, someday you're going to have to believe me when I say something is about to happen, Adina." I slowly turn around to look at him, not sure if I want to or not considering I'm about to break down.

"When will they be fully grown then?" I ask him, walking back over to my bed.

"In a day or two. It will be quite painful but I'm sure you can handle it." I simply nod, done with this conversation, but Ace is far from done.

"Mia wasn't just kidnaped by anyone." He says quietly, almost to where I couldn't hear him.

"What is that supposed to mean?" He opens his mouth to answer but Mason walks through the door. I see his eyes light up when he sees me.

"You're awake! How do you feel? Are you okay? You scared us all when you weren't waking up!" He hugs me and I giggle.

"I'm fine Mason, how are you doing?" His face falls from the smile he has.

"We haven't found anything. There are no hints, nothing. It's strange really, I just hope they find her." I hug him once more, and we all sit.

"What have you brought for me now?" I snatch the food out of his hands, and smile when I see yogurt.

"Why thank you kind sir, this looks amazing." I giggle when he pouts and says, "That was mine."

I put a little on my finger and wipe it across his nose. He whines some more and for a minute, I forgot everything that Ace said about Mia's kidnapper. I hope it stays this way for a while. Laughing, being relaxed. The look on Ace's face tells me it won't stay.
