Hello, my name is Areena. I'm 20 years old and well, I'm alone. 13 years ago, some scientist, trying to find a cure for the infest, killed my parents. You may be wondering, "What's the infest?" Well, let me tell you, for fifty years, a somewhat infection has been going around. No one knows who started it, just that it's deadly. The infection causes the body to stop working and starts having a mind of its own, a deadly mind. As you know, people call the infection, the infest. Pretty much, it makes people become a zombie-like person...so you could call it an apocalypse. Besides the infection and all that, let me tell you how my parents passed away...

13 Years Ago

I remember everything that happened, like it was just yesterday. I remember my mom, dad, and I were running away from a group of infests. My dad was carrying me, while my mom was behind us, shooting some of the infests. I then heard my mom yell to my dad, "Richard! Where are we going?!" My dad looked back at her and grabbed her hand and kept running. I then heard my mom yell something again, "I see a helicopter!" I looked up and saw a chopper with two men and a pilot landing in front of us. The two men then jumped out and started shooting the remaining infests. "Get in the helicopter!" My dad nodded and ran to the helicopter, still holding my mom and I.

Once we got in, the two men got inside and the pilot started flying away. "Mommy, where are we going?" I asked. My mom looked at me and shrugged. "I don't really know sweetie." My dad walked over to one of the two guys and asked, "Sir, where are we heading to?" The men looked at my dad and said, "Don't worry sir. We're doing to take you and your family someplace safe." My dad nodded and sat next to me.

After about an hour, we landed on a heli pad, on top of a hospital. "Won't there be a lot of infected ones in there?" The pilot looked at my dad and shook his head. "No sir, we've already cleared out the whole place." My dad grabbed me and jumped out.

After everyone got out, we started walking down some stairs. "Are any of you infected or hurt?" One of the guys said, looking at me. "No. We're fine," My dad said, pushing me closer to him. We kept walking until the two men stopped at a locked door. "Doctor! We found some new ones!" I thought in my head, what does he mean 'new ones'? Then, a doctor came out of the door and looked at me and my family. "Ah! New people!" The doctor took off his gloves and extended his hand. "My name is Doctor Manus." (Every scientist I have starts with a M) My mom shook his hand and said, "It's very nice to meet you. My name is Irena. This is my husband, Richard and my daughter Areena." My dad shook Manus' hand and punt me on the floor. I didn't why I did this, but I went up to the doctor and hugged him. He chuckled and picked me up. "Your daughter is a joyful little atom!" Everyone laughed at the pun/joke he did. "Patriot Max, why don't you give these people some food!" One of the guys nodded and motioned for us to follow him. Manus put me down and we followed, Max, to a room down the hall from Manus' room. Max opened the door and walked in. "this will be your guys' room." The room was a hospital room with 2 hospital beds, a small cabinet, and a mattress. "May we please have something to eat?" My mom asked. Max nodded and left the room. "Are we going to wive here?" My mom sat on one of the beds and motioned for me to sit on her lap. "I'm going to go and see if they need any help." "Okay, Richard. Be safe." My dad kissed her, on the lips, and left the room. "Sooo, are we going to stay here?" My mom sighed. "I don't know Areena. Probably." I jumped up and down. "Yay! "Cause I weally like Mr. Doctor!" My mom giggled and squeezed me in a hug. I then heard a scream....my dad's scream! "Richard!" My mom put me down and walked slowly to the door. The other guy then appeared in front of the door. "Ma'am, please stay here." "I just heard my husband scream! I have every right to go and check on him!" I sneaked past my mom and the man. Surprisingly, they didn't notice me. I went down the hall to the Mr. Doctor's room. I knocked on the door and the door then opened. "Oh! Ms. Little Atom!" I giggled at the name he called me and waved to him, even though I was like, 2 inches away from him. "Hey sir! I was wondering if you know what happened to my daddy." Manus closed the door behind him and knelt in front of me. (Propose! Sike! Nope!) "Look, why don't you go back to your mother?" I then heard a couple of growling sounds inside his room. "What was that?" I then saw my mom and Max run towards me. "Ma'am can you please keep track of your daughter," Manus said. My mom grabbed me and chuckled. "Sorry sir, but, if you don't mind me asked...." My mom then gestured towards the door. "Where's my husband?" Manus did an evil-like laugh and then nodded towards Max. Mac then pointed up his gun at my mom and I. "You see Mrs. Irena, we, well I, try to fix this mess. As you know, some sacrifices need to be made." "Mommy, wat does he mean?" Manus looked at me and said, "You see young child, I want to fix this sickness and the only way to do that is to experiment on....you" I dug my face into my mom's shoulder and squeezed my arms around her neck. "You....killed Richard?" Manus nodded and sighed. "He shouldn't have done what he did." My mom suddenly began to get furious. "What?! The only thing he did was see if you guys' needed help!" "Exactly!" My mom gasped and began to cry. I hugged her even tighter and cried too. "Max, will you please?" Max nodded. Manus grabbed me before knocking out my mom. She collapsed right in front of me. I cried even more as I squirmed out of Manus' grip. I eventually got out of his grip and hugged my mom. "Don't worry Max. You go and check on Brice and I'll take Areena." I then heard Max walk away and Manus walking up to me. I felt him slowly picking me up again. "No! Don't touch me!" I kicked and pushed to get him away. He backed up and then sat on his knees. "Areena, please listen to me." I looked up at him and sniffed. "I want to help this world and I think you guys can help me." Suddenly, I realized what he meant. He wanted to fix this mess and he wanted my help. "Do you pwomise not to hurt me if I help you?" Manus pulled out his pinkie finger and said, "I promise." I took his pinkie finger with mine and smiled at him, he smiled back at me. "Now, let's get your mother into a lab chair." Manus then went over and grabbed my mother, bridle style, and started heading to his room place. I followed him inside. Inside was some chairs, a desk with some papers and stuff, and cages full of.....infests? There were about 2 cages full or 2 infests. I looked around to see if I could find my dad. "Sir, where's my daddy?" After he placed my mom on a chair, he looked back at me. "I tested on him and now he has to stay in that room until I'm sure he can handle the infection." Manus pointed at a door that said in big black font:

Experiment Waiting Room

"Let's begin the experiments." He put on some gloves and a mask. He handed me some and I put them on. "You're not going to hurt my mommy? Are you?!" "No little ones. I'm only going to give her a little shot and then put her in the waiting room." I nodded and walke dup next to him. He gave y mom a shot and then dragged her into the waiting room.

After he locked the door he looked back at me and smiled. "Now that I have no one else to experiment on..." "Wait you prom...." Then everything was black.

When I woke up, I was in the forest. "What happened?" I slowly got up, but my arm felt my arm right arm was stinging. I looked at it and saw it had a red rash. "What da heck?!" I began to panick. What do I do, I thought. I then realized something....where are my parents? "Mommy! Daddy!" Where are you?!" I looked around, and saw a note pinned to a nearby tree:

Sorry I left you here in this dump. You see, I really needed to test Chemical 62 and you were the only one left. I'm also sorry to say, your parents are dead.

A pain of frustration and anger rushed through me. "You will die Doctor! And I'll make sure of it!" I crumpled the paper, threw it, and started walking....east I think. "I need to fwind supplies....like what mommy and daddy would do." I was on my own, no one to help or save me. "I miss you mommy....daddy." I began to cry as I kept walking.
