That day, unlike the ones before, was different. Melody was being driven somewhere unknown and neither of her parents would even bother telling her.
As her dad drove, she stared out of her backseat window for what felt like an hour before she decided to speak up.
"Mom, dad, where are we going?" she asks while bringing her eyes to him.
When they didn't respond, fear mixed with anger stirred in her head like soup in a pot. She began to sweat profusely since the air in the backseat of the black Volkswagen was limited. As she parted her lips to speak, her dad whispered something to her mom.
Whispering. They knew she hated it. They knew it'd trigger her paranoia. What were they saying? What's going on?
"They're talking about you, Melody." said Betty, a girl sitting next to her. She has shoulder length, ringlet curled blonde hair and green eyes. Her face bore a peachy pink complexion. Her white blouse kept her snug and her calf length brown skirt gave her the adult like appearance even though she looked the same age as Melody.
They met when they were five. Her parents had bought Bullworth Manor, a mansion with many secrets and rumors that were found to be true. It was haunted, but Melody didn't think so.
"What do you mean?" Melody whispered while tucking her straight, dark brown hair behind her ears. Her matching eyes seemed to dance with the illuminating moonlight that shined through the window.
"I hear them. They're saying that you're weird." she whispered with a serious tone that matched her expression, "Who's Lola?"
"My Aunt. Why?" Melody asked with furrowed eyebrows and a slightly tilted head.
"They're sending you to her. You have to run. Now!"
The serious tone in her voice made Melody panic. Why was she running? Aunt Lola was the sweetest woman ever. Next to her mother, Belle, of course. She didn't have time to question it. She had to find a way to escape and fast.
"We're here, kiddo." Melody looked at him, he's looking over his right shoulder at her.
He was sending her away alright, but from the look of the castle like building it wasn't Aunt Lola's. The three of them got out of the car and stood on the pebble path leading to the entrance after shutting their doors. They followed Woody to the tall building and as they walked, Melody took in everything near her. Bushes, flowers, bumble bees pollinating them.
There were men in all white hospital suits with masks and caps pacing in front of the door as if they're supposed to guard the entrance. As Woody, Belle and Melody approached, they formed two lines with a gap for them to strut through.
Weird. Melody thinks to herself.
They, Woody and Belle, walk her in and hot air greets them all upon arrival. The little room reeked of ammonia, which mixed with the air to create a stomach-turning aroma.
She studied the inside of the room. There weren't any stairs, just a transparent window which shields an office for the orderlies to sit, olive green painted walls and matching tiles. Currently there are two behind the glass. A pale man with sea green eyes and a black woman with dark brown eyes. Their caps covered their heads, and their sick masks covered the bottom half of their faces.
"How may I help you?" the man spoke, although it was slightly muffled underneath the mask.
"We're here to drop off Melody Hopkins." Woody spoke plainly which matches his empty expression.
She was still confused as to why they'd drop her off and where she was. She forgot to read the sign outside and unfortunately for her there weren't any on the inside.
"Dad," she called for him as the female came around from behind the glass. "Dad," she called again as he and Belle left coldly, refusing to look back.
She started chasing after them with tears sitting at the brim of her eyes, but the woman came up behind her and grabbed her by her upper arms, squeezing tightly as she practically drags her through the teal blue double doors, which swing open.
She screamed and wailed as she pulled her down the left hall. "I need assistance," the woman called out while trying her hardest to detain Melody.
Eventually three male orderlies in their uniforms come running down the hall. Two with dark brown eyes and one with grey eyes.
"Calm down, Miss. Hopkins," she spoke softly, grunting as Melody fought back.
"Let me go! Let me go," She chanted louder and louder.
As she screamed and thrashed, patients in the area she's in began to scream along with her.
The door to her room was swung open by the grey eyed man and a strong breeze flew out, making them tremble.
The dark eyed men each gripped a leg while the other held the door open, the female held Melody's torso upright and they carried her in as if they were lugging a dead body.
Bang!
The door slammed shut. Melody fidgeted as they set her on the hard, naked bed. The woman got onto the bed to hold her down while two men, one with dark eyes and one with grey, stood by the door so she couldn't run out. The other one walked over to the steel sink for a syringe half filled with unknown fluids. He brought it to her and the dim light from the bulb above was enough for her to see the long needle.
Lying there frozen was all that she could do as the burning sensation lingered and dispersed throughout her body. This wasn't uncommon for her. When fear takes over, it's fight, flight or freeze.
Her palms ached and scars from her fingernails digging into them began to form. Her throat felt like it was close to shedding blood if she screamed again and no matter how hard she tried she couldn't cry.
It was no use. They made a mistake, and she was determined to receive justice no matter how she got it.

A.N: So this idea literally came to me while I was playing the game "Bully". It's based in the 1930s(correct me if I'm wrong) and I had to bust out a friend from the asylum. Any who, if there are any mistakes please let me know. I hope you all like it and stay tuned for updates.*
*Edit: There will be mechanical errors along the way, but when I complete the book, I'll polish it up a bit.*
