Rules
RULES:
1. Be nice. Don't be rude or criticize the work of your fellow tributes or Gamemakers. If you want to complain about your score to a Gamemaker a little, please do it politely.
2. Please keep enemies and such inside the Games, don't take it out onto Wattpad or elsewhere.
3. Don't get super angry if you get voted out, it's not nice. A simple 'darn' is okay, but please don't go smashing and swearing just because you've been eliminated. It's not the end of the world.
4. Get your entry in on time! We cannot stress this enough. Punctuality is, and will always be, important. No extensions will be given unless you have a valid reason (such as being very sick, sustaining a serious injury, etc;). First time you do not hand in your entry, you will automatically be put up for votes. Second time it happens, you will be automatically eliminated from the Games.
5. Do not beg for votes or vote from other accounts (collab accounts, second accounts, etc.). If you are caught doing any of the above, you will be automatically eliminated from the Games. Also, please judge an entry as an entry. The authors behind them do not, and should not, matter. We will investigate any suspicious behaviors, and make sure that everything is as fair as can be. Please PM us your votes.
6. If you've read the rules so far, please add your favorite fruit to the Other part of your tribute form.
7. If you have been in another Author Games before and used a tribute, we strongly recommend not to use the same tribute for these Games. This would not be fair on everyone's part. No host likes to see recycled tributes.
8. Swearing is fine, but try to keep it at a minimum as too much swearing would take away from the whole idea of the story. All entries should be at a PG-13 level.
9. Try not to go over the word limit. We'll try to give everyone a reasonable word count for every task, but one point will be deducted from your score if you happen to go over the limit.
10. Your ballot/death ranking will not affect your score, but there will be some penalties or, in some cases, bonuses. Failure to complete any ballot challenge will result in a deduction of your score.
11. Send all entries to authorgamesteam(at)gmail.com.
12. We hope that you enjoy your Author Games experience with us, and that you have loads of fun!
DEATH AND BALLOTS:
Deaths: Deaths are the kills your tribute executed or witnessed in your entry. The number of kills you're allowed to see or do will be provided by Gamemakers on a specified task.
Ballots: Ballots are a way of "killing" a tribute without them knowing. At the end of your entry, you list your ballots which will not be shown to public. Ballots don't decide if the tribute is voted out or not, they decide the ballot rank of the tribute.
VOTING:
If you're one of the lowest in rankings, you will be put up for votes (all tasks except for Task One will have voting). Whoever gets the most votes will stay, while the others who have not gotten that many will be killed and be leaving the competition.
GAMES LAYOUT
-After Task One, 0 tributes will be eliminated, but sponsorships will be determined.
-After Task Two, 6 tributes will be eliminated.
-After Task Three, 3 tributes will be eliminated.
-After Task Four, 3 tributes will be eliminated.
-After Task Five, 4 tributes will be eliminated.
-After Task Six, 2 tributes will be eliminated. (Quarterfinals)
-After Task Seven, 2 tributes will be eliminated. (Semifinals)
-Task Eight will be the finals, and we will have four finalists.
SPONSORING:
The three Gamemakers will be sponsoring tributes they think are capable of going far, and have really gone above and beyond to catch their eye. Each Gamemaker will be sponsoring two tributes.
JUDGING AND SCORING:
We will all be scoring your entries. Each of us will give you a score, and we will average it all out to give you your final score. At least one of us will give you feedback if not all three. It really depends on the times and how busy our lives are. [Moon will always give feedback to everyone, but the others are still to be decided]. Scores will be on a scale of 0 - 12; the chart is located below.
0: You didn't turn in your entry, hence nothing to mark.
1-3: Your entry was extremely short, disorganized, and full of spelling and grammar errors. It was basically all gibberish. For example, you would have something like "i walkinged to the ppl's corncopia and dieed in da bloodbathh."
4-6: You met all requirements, but your entry still needs more details and proofreading for it to be considered "exceptional".
7-8: Your entry was mediocre. You did okay and you're on the safer side.
9-10: Your entry was good! We suspect many will land here. It basically means that you have a few mistakes, and you just have 1-2 problems that just keep bothering us.
11: Your entry was beautiful. If we gave you an eleven, you have done an AMAZING job. You'll probably get far in the competition, and you entry was pretty much perfection.
12: Perfect. No mistakes, so go find yourself a publisher.
We hope everyone understands everything, please PM or contact us at if you have any questions! We are so excited for these Games to begin!
Reservations begin on JUNE 1ST, 2016, 3:30 PM EST. [subject to change, you will be notified at least 24 hours prior]
