One Week

Lance grabbed his Bayard and shot down another one of Tony's training drones. He rolled underneath a drone suspended in the air, shooting it from below.

"He's not that bad." Tony admitted from inside the observation room.

"Only took you a week to say it." Clint grinned.

"Look, Clint, he's done, and he beat your time." Tony smiled slyly.

"You did good." Steve told Lance over the intercom. "Better than Hawkeye."

"Really? You're all-"

"Language." Steve warned, and Clint groaned.

"I hate you."

"You guys sound like my team." Lance said with a smile.

"We are your team, for the time being." Tony reminded him. The boy's smile fell, and Steve nudged Tony before he walked down to join Lance.

"That was some fancy fighting you did there. I'm sure your team is very proud of you." He said as he reached the boy. Lance smiled half-heartedly. It wasn't nearly as genuine as the one he previously sported.

"Thanks." Lance whispered, pulling Steve into an awkward embrace. Steve hesitated for a moment before returning the hug.

"No problem. Care to join us in the dining room?" He asked.

"You guys eat dinner together?" Lance asked back.

"We're like a big, happy family." Clint said sarcastically.

"What he said." Steve explained, patting Lance on the back. "If you don't want, I can show you your room on the way down there."

"I can see it after dinner, I suppose." Lance reasoned, realizing he hadn't eaten between training with all of the Avengers.

"Great. Let's go - I think Bruce made Tacos."

"So we really can't find him?" Pidge asked quietly, unhappy with the charts Coran had presented her.

"I would think not. But if anyone could find him using these, it'd be you." He offered with some forced enthusiasm.

"I'll see what I can do."

Stark Tower

"So you guys have all met Lance?" Tony asked, and Thor shook his head.

"Who is Lance?" He asked in his charming Asgardian accent.

"He's the newest Avenger. Steve's idea." Tony said, gesturing towards Lance. The boy was standing alone in a corner, adjusting the sleeve on his new shirt.

"I wish to speak with him." Thor said gently, then began to walk towards the boy. "Lance! How nice to meet you." He smiled, offering Lance a hand.

"It's a pleasure. And you are...?" He shook Thor's hand.

"Thor, son of Odin." He smiled at Lance. "What inspired the Captain to add you to the team?" Lance only shrugged in response.

"No idea, I was kind of trying to think of ways to get out of the cell they had me in while the whole conversation was going on." Lance chuckled, and Thor caught the bitter edge to his laughter.

"Where are you from?"

"Earth- I mean, Cuba." Lance smiled a little. "I'm not used to answering like that."

"Really? Sounds like you've been to other realms." Thor said. "Have you visited Asgard?"

"No, just space." Lance answered vaguely.

"Where in space? Anywhere past Mars?" Clint asked sarcastically, smiling as Cap shook his head.

"Actually, I've been to other solar systems." Lance said nonchalantly.

"Impressive." Natasha remarked, walking over to the group of sweaty heroes on couches.

"Hey, is everyone okay with ordering a pizza?" Tony asked suddenly.

"You're the billionaire, can't you hire a chef?" Clint replied.

"The pizza is already here." Wanda explained. "He ordered it half an hour ago." Tony glared at her playfully.

"I got combo, meat-lovers, pepperoni, just cheese, and one with everything on it." Tony informed them as a delivery boy walked in with a stack of pizza boxes.

"I dare you to eat a two slices of the one with everything." Lance shot at Tony, grinning at the egotistical billionaire.

"Only if you have three." Tony said smoothly, and Lance's grin widened.

"Deal."

"What? No, that wasn't... I didn't-"

"A deal's a deal, Tony." Cap said, defending the newest avenger. Tony groaned, which was met by laughter from the rest of the team.

"Fine." Tony pulled two slices out of one of the boxes and plopped them on a plate. The clean, white surface with gold leaf looked out of place mixed with the greasy, sizzling slice of pizza.

"And I get these." Lance said, delightedly pulling three slices of pizza out of the box. He wolfed them down in a minute, the whole team watching as he ate the pizza messily.

"Shit, how do I beat that?" Tony asked angrily, starting at the unattractive triangles of despair rotting on his plate. Lance sucked the tomato sauce off of his fingers, relishing the giggles aimed at Tony's dismay.

"Language." Cap whispered.

"You doomed yourself. I actually like everything on that pizza." Lance explained, and Tony groaned. He slowly took a bite of the pizza.

"Me and my big mouth." He complained, setting down the pizza slice. He handed Lance ten dollars.

"What is this for? We didn't bet..." Lance said.

"You made a fool of me, that's hard for someone so young to do."

"But not for a ninety year old man such as myself." Cap explained, playfully punching Tony in the shoulder.

Castle of Lions

"Guys, come quick!" Shiro yelled over the comm. All three paladins and two alteans rushed onto the bridge.

"What is it?" Allura asked frantically.

"A message from Lance." Shiro said wearily. The thumbnail was of the blue paladin's face, bloody and bruised. "It's from 70 years and two weeks in the future..."
