"She's changed." the father said talking to his wife on the phone. "Usually every night she blasts music inside her room, but now I barely hear her sing!" he says, while sighing softly.

"Really?" his wife asks, "Maybe it's because of Tokoyami?" she ponders.

"I'm certain of it." he states. "We had dinner a whilst ago. She asked me if she will ever see him again."

"The way she looked at me."

"-The way her hair covered her eyes as she spoke."

"--It was sad and scary at the same time." he sighs and shook his head. Remembering what Y/N asked him just after she asked him about the hero thing again. "We can't do anything about it though." the mother responded through the phone.

"I know..."

Today marks the first day of my 9th year in school. So, this is basically my third year and last year as a Junior. Last school year was my second year.

However, even though I'm in the 9th year now, I'm actually one of the youngest in class. I'm only thirteen. I'm turning fourteen this year, though.

I gripped the straps of my bag as I walked inside my assigned classroom. Everyone looked familiar to me, yet I didn't know any of them. I don't even remember any names.

Just faces.

I quickly dashed my way towards an empty seat just beside the window, where I always liked to sit.

Heheh. Tokoyami liked to sit near windows too.

I brought out my phone and dialed his number.

"God. Fucking. Damn it, Tokoyami!"

I bowed my head down onto the desk and formed fists on both of my hands inf frustration. My vision became a bit blurry for a moment before I sniffed.

I gripped my hair and groaned silently.

"Why the fuck did you have to leave me?"

"Ms. L/N, are you still with us?" a male adult gets my attention, which was directed to the world outside from the window.

I payed no interest during discussions for the past few weeks. I never really cared about what the teachers had to teach because I still kept acing my exams and getting high grades.

On the first day, I went straight to the highschool building during lunch. I was so desperate to find him.

One of his previous classmates saw me looking around their classrooms. He told me that...

That...

Tokoyami transferred.

He decided to transer? After not showing up for an entire year? So is he still going to be a Junior? He never really finished his ninth year.

But.

Why would he transfer without telling me?

Why wouldn't he show up in school in the first place!

"Nope." I mutter, and everyone in the room looked at me in awe. No one has ever had the courage to talk back to this particular teacher because of how strict he is. I could care less, though. "What was that?" he asks, glaring at me nonetheless.

"You heard me." I replied, boredom laced in my tone. Everyone's eyes widen at my response. Not a single person would expect the smartest and the most introverted one in class to have the guts to say that to a strict-ass teacher. "I see." the teacher sighs. "I suppose you could leave early if you would like." he says. He shook a bit in anger.

I clicked my tongue. "Sure." I stated and grabbed my bags before heading to the door. "Sayonara." I said as I exited the classroom and shut the door behind me.

...

I heard a click.

Maybe the teacher locked me out?

I grabbed the doorknob again.

Yeah, he locked me out.

It's almost dismissal time anyway.

Out I go.

I walked through the hallways of the school silently. I passed by a few classrooms which held discussions. Students and teachers watched me walk by their rooms, confused as to why I'm out so early.

I walked out of the building, the guard not even caring about me. A drink before going home seems nice.

Let's do that.

"F/D, please." I order as I toss some loose change from my pocket unto the counter of the cash register. The woman behind it punched in my order and grabbed my money. "Anything else?" she asked and I shook my head politely. She placed in my money inside the cash register and went to the side to prepare my drink.

A few seconds later, she finished making up my drink and proceeded to hand it to me. I gladly took it. "Arigatōgozaimashita." I thanked as I left the cashier.

I found a lonely table with two chairs beside the glass window. I quickly claimed it as mine by sitting down on one of the chairs. I set my bags beside my feet.

I took a sip from the drink--which was delicious by the way--and looked out from the window. My mind wondering off again like it always does.

The wind from outside was calm, it blew the leaves to the right as people walked by, minding their own businesses. A few cars were passing by the road as the hour continued.

It was peaceful out there, but it wasn't peaceful in here....

...In my mind.

I sigh and continue to drink.

"Excuse me, Ms." a male voice from beside me gets my attention. When I look to my left, I didn't see anyone.

Then a hand waved itself in front of my face, indicating me that the source of the sound was down.

I looked down and saw a rather cute but badass being. He was a... Dog? Mouse? Bear? I couldn't decipher. He had this huge scar going across his right eye. He was wearing something too formal for him which made him even more badass.

I couldn't help but gush over how cute he looked though.

"May I sit here please? There aren't any available spots left in this area." the male explains, "Sure thing." I reply as he proceeded to climb up the chair in front of me and put a cup of tea on the table. The animal thingy smiles at me.

"Thank you." he says, bringing out his pinky finger as he took a sip from the tea. I chuckle in response. "Ehh, it's nothing." I say, finishing half of my drink already.

The two of us were at a comfortable silence as we drank our drinks.

Just in case some of you guys are confused,

Technically, reader-chan is 13 years old right now in her 9th year or 3rd year as a junior.

Tokoyami was a level higher than us before he vanished. He disappeared at the start of his 9th year/3rd year as a junior, which means we were at our 8th year/2nd year as a junior.
