Chapter 8 - Thunderstorm
It was very late. Past midnight. Lightning flashed, causing shadows to play across the dark corridors of the Sky Army Base. Loud claps of thunder rumbled outside. But everyone was sleeping soundly in there beds....except for a certain toddler.
Emily sat up in her bed. She had the covers to her bed wrapped around her tightly, but she looked terrified. Every time thunder was heard, she whimpered and hid her face in the blankets. The wind howled outside, making the rain drops hit against the windows hard.
A bright flash of light went through the room, and a earth-shattering BOOM! was heard almost directly after.
Emily screamed and slid off of her bed. She ran to the door and opened it. She was looking for someone. A special someone.
She ran down the halls, trying to remember as best she could what room it was. But they all looked the same to the poor, terrified child.
"...here..." A whisper sounded.
She spun around. No one was there. She continued to run down the halls searching for the room.
"always....here..."
She continued to hear whispers, but she didn't care, or comprehend their meaning.
"I'm...always....here...for...you..."
She heard them get louder as she neared one door. She slowly reached for the handle and opened it. The person whom she'd thought she was looking for, was in front of her.
Another loud clap of thunder was heard as she whimpered and grabbed hold of his leg, the way a scared child does.
"S-seto..." She whimpered, tightening her grip.
This person was not Seto, but Lust again. He was surprised as his target had come to him, instead of him finding her. But he was shocked to immobility as he saw how much she cared for his brother. It had stayed with her through the transformation.
Another step of footsteps could be heard running down the halls, although they belonged to a grown-up.
If he was going to take her...he'd have to do it now. But...something stopped him. Stopped him long enough for whoever it was running to get to his room.
He looked and saw Sky. He looked tired and relieved.
"I heard her scream and when I came to check on her, she wasn't there. I guessed this is where she'd be." Sky said.
Lust shook his head to clear his scattered thoughts.
"Y-yeah. She came running in, scared of the storm." Lust explained quietly.
Sky bent down and tapped Emily's shoulder.
"Hey Ems. We're gonna go back to bed now, ok?" Sky said to the toddler clinging onto Lust's leg.
She nodded and lifted her arms to be picked up.
Sky picked her up and carried her out of the room. On his way out, he turned to Lust.
"Thanks Seto." Sky smiled and walked down the hall, out of sight.
Lust didn't know what to feel. The way she had trusted him...the way she clung to him...it made him feel...
"Urgh!" He groaned, laying on his bed, staring into space.
There was to much on his mind. He almost felt sorry for the little brat. But if he didn't fulfil this order...
Thunder boomed outside, interrupting his thoughts.
He sighed and turned to look out the window at the pounding rain. Tied between two armies...What could be worse...?
