Chapter One: Strike

Prologue: Percy

You would think, after all my years of being a Demigod, I'd finally figure it out. Demigods don't get relaxing days off. It's like a job that never ends because work follows you home, follows you to camp, heck it even follows you in the bathroom.

So much work. And you know, shame on me for not figuring this out sooner. Shame on all of us for not figuring it out sooner. Do we at least get points for trying?

Jason, suggested we go bowling. Bowling is cool. Nothing absolutely wrong with bowling.

"No teams, we die alone like men!" Leo jokingly announced.

"I say teams, and I want Jason on my team. The guy who suggested bowling better be pretty good at bowling." I said, as Jason and I bro hugged.

"I really don't care either way." Piper said. "Teams, no teams. As long as everyone has fun."

"What a cliche thing for a loser to say." I taunted.

"Bold words from someone who's going to take a beating Seaweed Brain. Boys versus girls?" Annabeth asked? We all nodded in agreement.

"Um, there's more boys then girls." Hazel spoke up. On one team, it would be Jason, Frank, Leo and I and on the other, Annabeth, Piper and Hazel.

"Well Leo can sit out cause I don't think he can lift a bowling ball anyway."

"Hey!! I can too lift a bowling ball." Imagine our surprise when he could indeed lift one. We were all so proud of him. Children grow up so fast.

No surprise, Annabeth was really good at bowling. Something about it all being about angles—Athena advantage I suppose. Hazel wasn't great at it (but really neither was I), Jason was great at it, and Piper and Frank were better than I was but not as great as Annabeth. A good middle ground.

"Strike!!" Annabeth cheered, high fiving Piper and Hazel before turning to our team. I had no idea how the scoring worked for bowling, but Leo said we were losing. Bummer.

"You're up boys." Jason took the ball from her, walking over to the lane.

"Show em how it's done Jason!! Big Three represent!!" I called out, ignoring the strange looks I was getting for standing on the chairs.

"You got this Jason!!" Frank said from right next to me. Well, he was actually on the ground, which was probably for the best. These chairs were not stable.

"Don't miss!" Annabeth cried, right before Jason threw the ball. Thank the Fates that he didn't.

"Strike!!" Jason, Frank and I all high fived in victory.

"And that's how it's done in New Rome!! Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all week." We laughed and turned to Leo for the scores.

"You're all tied up. Only a few more rounds to go. And, frankly my money is on Annabeth."

"That's fair." We all muttered in agreement. It was always safe to bet on Annabeth to win.

"Piper, you're up next." Again, I have no idea how bowling works. I just know Piper managed to knock down all but three pins, and had to use two more balls to knock them all down. Is that bad? I don't know, I don't know anything. It's just not a strike, which means they don't get that high of a lead.

Um. Maybe.

"Alright, Percy, your turn." Nodding very seriously, I grabbed a bowling ball and walked towards the lane. I think I went bowling with my mom once, when I was a young kid. Or was that a school trip? Maybe it was someone's birthday. Maybe it was someone's birthday and my mom was there? Hm, I couldn't remember.

"Percy, please throw the ball we do not have all day." I blinked, shaken from my thoughts. How long had I been standing here? Oh well, time to throw the ball.

"Percy Jackson!!" The ball landed with a loud thud in front of me, leading to a chorus of laughter from my friends.

"Okay, who did that? Was it you Hazel, cause that's not funny." Hazel stopped laughing, looking at me strangely.

"What are you talking about?"

"Yeah Percy, you can't blame Hazel because you dropped the ball—literally." Piper said, before laughing again. I rolled my eyes.

"Someone said my name, I heard it!"

"No one said your name, Percy. Just pick up the ball and try again, it's alright." Jason said. Huffing in annoyance, I picked up the ball, getting ready to throw it. If I got a strike, that would erase the whole 'dropping the ball' incident. Err, hopefully anyway.

"Percy Jackson!!" Again, the ball dropped right in front of me, once again landing with a loud thud. My friends tried to contain their laughter this time, but I could still here them snickering.

"Okay, seriously guys. This isn't funny." I said, turning around to face them.

"It's a little funny." Leo snickered.

"Not the dropping the ball, that's hilarious, I mean saying my name so I'll drop it." Annabeth walked closer to me, a concerned frown on her face.

"Percy, are you feeling alright? Because none of us said anything." Oh boy. They really don't hear it?

"I...I could've swore I heard someone say my name, twice. Are you sure no one said it?" Everyone nodded.

"We swear, Percy. Maybe you need to sit down, I'll get some water for you." Frank insisted, gesturing to his seat so I could sit down. What a gentlemen. Sitting down, I frowned, trying to think. Maybe I was hallucinating?

"Percy Jackson!!" I jumped up from my seat, startling Jason next to me.

"There it was again!" From the lane, Hazel cried out,

"Ow!! My foot!" I grinned sheepishly. She must've dropped the ball on her foot—whoops.

"Sorry Hazel, but I heard the voice again."

"Are you sure you're alright, Percy? Maybe it's worse than we thought, let me drive you home." Jason said, resting his hand on my shoulder. I shook it off.

"No, I'm fine. I can hear someone saying my name, I'm not crazy!"

"That's what all crazy people say." I glared at Leo. He shrugged.

"You know I'm right."

"Go outside, Percy Jackson. I need your help." Typically, I didn't listen to spooky voices that haunted me while I was trying to have a fun time with my friends. That's because the spooky voice was typically a bad guy that wanted to kill me or something. However, this time was totally different! I had all my friends here, and if anything did try to kill me, they'd totally have my back.

Also, I wanted to prove that I was not hearing things and was not going crazy. Last time I checked, ADHD didn't make you hear voices. Unless, it did, in which case I was going to have a lot of explaining to do. Both to myself and everyone around me.

"Come on!!" Without waiting to hear the protests of my friends, I slipped past people and pushed my way to the front of the bowling alley. I say pushed but it really wasn't that busy. Once outside, I looked around for anything that could potentially be mythology related. That was hard, because the Mist typically kept mythology things hidden, but that didn't stop me from looking.

"Percy Jackson! I need your help!" I stared down at the small brown haired little girl. I really hoped she wasn't a monster of some kind, cause that would get really awkward really fast. I could see the headlines now:

Percy Jackson, Child Killer!

That was publicity my family didn't need now or ever.

"Um. Hi, little girl. Do...I know you?" My friends had walked outside now too, so there was a crowd of seven surrounding this girl who couldn't be more than seven.

"Yes, you do!" She insisted. But, here's the thing—I didn't.

"So the voice you heard was this random little girl who thinks she knows you?" Leo clarified. I nodded.

"Cool, cool, cool, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything." The girl glared at Leo before looking back at me.

"Percy Jackson, it's me. Hestia." Never mind, I did know her! She's cool. Only god to not ruin my life completely.

"Lady Hestia!! It's an honor to see you." Annabeth said.

"Why are you so young? Um, no offense of course." Piper asked. Hestia sighed.

"That's why I'm here. The Gods...have made a horrible mistake."

"When have they not, really." I fell silent after a glare from Annabeth.

"It was the usual infighting on Olympus... between Poseidon and Zeus." How typical. "Zeus was complaining how hard it was to be King of the Gods when no one listened to you. Poseidon countered that a child could do his job."

"Oh boy." Frank mumbled next to me. Hestia nodded.

"Oh boy indeed. The next thing I know, they've come up with this annoying bet and have convinced, or ordered, all of the Olympians to partake. We're stuck as children for one week." Well, that was a little anticlimactic.

"Is that really the worse thing in the world?" Piper asked. "I mean, the gods can shapeshift into anything, why not just shapeshift into a grownup again?"

"The spell prevents us from doing so—Athena was the one who suggested that limitation. Not only that, Zeus and Poseidon have switched jobs, and who knows who else has done the same. The world will be in chaos soon." My mind wandered to all the Greek myths I knew; young Hermes stealing cattle, all of the mortals who got trapped in the Gods arguing. It wasn't a good look...and with all of the Gods young, when some of them didn't go through childhood? This won't be good.

"What do you need us to do, Lady Hestia?" Jason asked.

"I need you to help me track down the Gods before they ruin something. The world can only handle so much imbalance, and I can't fix it alone. Will you help me?" Help me Obi-Wan, you're my only hope.

"We'll help you." Annabeth said. We all nodded in agreement, and Hestia sighed in relief.

"Thank you. I'm not sure what I would do without all of you." Frank cleared his throat to get our attention.

"Not that I don't want to help, but... how exactly are we going to help her?"
