  Badgerwish opened her northern light colored eyes and looked around the bare mountain. 'Wait, this isn't he warrior's den!' She thought, panic spreading through her limbs.
  "Oh, sorry, didn't mean to make you feel worried!" Badgerwish's ears pricked up. The voice sounded familiar.
'It can't be!' She yowled in her head, but as she looked up she knew it could be, and it was.
  "Flint!" She meowed. "Am I... dead???"
  "No, no, no," Flint mewed, his amber gaze had a spark of amusement. "You have come here to be tested; to be out to a trail."
  Badgerwish stares at Flint in surprise. A trial? For what? Did it have something to do with the prophecy?
  Badgerwish felt grief flow over her as she though of the prophecy, or, more accurately, how Willowflight has died after telling her.
  "Anyways, I'm going to explain something real quick," Flint's meow broke Badgerwish's thoughts. "At each stop you will meet someone from your past, and each time they will instruct you to pull yourself into their memories. I will explain then Example how for you."
  Badgerwish nodde din understanding and Flint continued, "so, you will place
Your muzzle on top of their shoulder and take a sniff, then mumble the scent you smell strongest."
  Badgerwish watched as Flint placed his muzzle on top of her shoulder and took a long, slow sniff, then mumbled "fresh moss."
  Badgerwish felt her mind prick and saw images slowly play in her mind: Willowflight's death, her time with the Group Of Stars, and then, Bearclaw's death. These images dissolved into her mind as Flint pulled his muzzle away. "It will take some time to get used to, and you will probably jerk away the first few times." He meowed. "Now you try."
  Badgerpaw slowly followed what Flint had done, and a strong tug pulled her as she finished mumbling "dew" and she jerked away. She tried a second time, this time willing herself to stay.
"Stone, they're beautiful!"
  Badgerwish could see a gray she-cat in front of her, next to her was Smoke.
  "Any name suggestions, Dusk?" The she-cat, Stone.
  "This one should be Flint," the tom, Dusk, replied.
  "This one will be Smoke," Stone purred.
  The memory faded and Badgerwish was packed into another.
  "What are you doing here?" A hostile voice came from the entrance.
  "We live here," Dusk replied.
  "This is part of our territory!"  For the first time Badgerwish glanced up at the voice. It was a tom, with orange fur. Just like Flare's.
  "We didn't know," Stone mewed, sweeping her tail around Badgerwish and Smoke.
  "Well, now you'll pay!" A new voice growled. Badgerwish saw a white She-cat, her eyes were yellow, just like Flare's.
The two cats advanced and Badgerwish felt a shove.
"Run!" Stone's meow was by her ear and she bolted, Smoke beside her.
Badgerwish steadied herself for the next memory.
She sniffed at an orange bundle of fur.
"We should leave it to die!" Badgerwish looked up at Smoke in surprise.
"Smoke! How could you even suggest that!" Badgerwish spoke for the first time and she realized, as she had forgotten, that she was Flint.
"His parents killed our parents!" Smoke growled. "This should be our revenge!"
"If we kill him, we'll only be sinking to their level!" Flint snapped.
He turned away from Smoke and started licking the orange bundle.
Badgerwish drew her muzzle back and looked up at Flint, but he had disappeared. She looked around for him and saw a cat she knew, well, recognized.
"You!" She snarled. It was the cat who had killed her brother.
For a moment Badgerwish almost leapt forward to bite down on this cat's throat but the wind seemed to whisper "remember the memories."
Badgerwish blinked and noticed how skinny the cat was, and she remembered Flint's memory. A brown streak seemed to run right into her claws and Badgerwish instinctively killed it. A plump rabbit hung in her jaws. She walked over to the other cat and set the rabbit by its paws.
The cat faded and Flint appeared in her place.
"Congratulations, Badgerwish, you have passed your first trial. Walk to that forest for the next." He mewed.
