Drabble
I have to fix things with Charlie, I thought, standing in line to buy the morning paper. Since our fight, things have been tense.
I left the house that night in tears, got in my car, and drove around for hours. When I returned, I heard Charlie in our bedroom sobbing. He hasn't spoken a word to me since.
The cashier gives me a paper but it slips from my hand. I bend over to retrieve it and glimpse the front page. The headline reads: Local Woman Killed in Car Crash and underneath is a picture of...
...of me.
