The Sorting/An Important Discovery
Harry Potter was content.
He had a real friend. Ron Weasley.
He walked with Ron, into the Great Hall, nervous about the Sorting. What if he didn't like his house?
Ron was in Gyffindor. So was that girl and the boy, Neville and Hermione.
"Potter, Harry."
His name was called and the hat wanted to put him in Slytherin, but Harry didn't want to. Harry asked to be put in Gryffindor. Yes!
"Isn't that all? Who else needs to be sorted?" Harry might have said that a bit too loudly, because three people still needed to be sorted turned around and scowled.
...Percy, Jason, and Nico...weren't they already sorted? Why were the scowling at him? Some friends
"Grace, Jason."
Without even touching his head, the Hat shouted, "Gryffindor!"
"Di Angelo, Nico."
Nico went up, but as soon as the hat was on his head, his poker face turned into one consorted in pain.
"Get out of my head!" Nico shouted.
He pulled the hat off as soon as it shouted, "Gryffindor!" But then to Nico, "I'm sorry, Kid." Did he imagine that?
Nico sat next to Jason, further down at the table. Harry saw he had a tear running down his face, looking like he had been slapped.
"Jackson, P-Perseus," Professor McGonagall faultered slightly.
Percy went to the front of the room, looking cool and confident, making some first and second year girls swoon.
As soon as the hat touched his head, his eyes went wide with panic, and a black, pained, scared expression, which Harry had never seen before.
"Get it off!" The new teacher had a caring look on his face. Did he know him?
"No!" Percy screamed. He then fell to the ground, screaming, grabbing his temples.
"GRYFF-"
The hall gasped. What was going on?
"SLYTH-"
Again, everyone gasped.
"HUFFL-"
Yet another gasp.
"RAVEN-"
Gasps all around the room.
"GRYFFINDOR!!!" The hat screamed, finally.
"Percy! Perseus Freaking Jackson, if you don't wake up, I will call Thalia Grace and have her whip your podex! Leo will burn you alive, Piper will murder you and Jason, Hazel will flip out, and don't forget Annabeth's signature move!"
"Wake up!" He muttered something in a different language, and Percy started sputtering.
"What the Hades just happened, Connor Stoll?"
Everyone gasped at how rude he was bring to a teacher.
"The hat looked into your memories."
What memories?
"What memories?"
"Probably dreams. Nightmares. Now, go sit at Gryffindor table."
Percy looked directly at Harry, hesitated, and sat down next to Nico and Jason.
Why were they being so weird?
...
Percy Jackson was freaking out. The hat showed him...things. A golden coffin. Darkness...Nyx? A face if a selling dirt lady. The face of...of...of...something called Tartarus...
It was something out if another world. He didn't think they were his memories, but then again, he was sure he had been through it.
It was strange. When he saw those things, he had a surge of terror. Unmistakable fear.
"Jason..." I said, once the feast had started. "I'm not sleeping tonight. I'm exploring the castle. You in?"
"You don't even have to ask. Nico?"
"Course I'm coming with you two Dunderbrains," He smiled. "You guys wouldn't last ten minutes."
"What wouldn't you last ten minutes in?" Connor Stoll had come up from behind them.
"Well," Percy started. "I wanna explore the castle. The grounds. Everything forbidden. Are you going to give us detention or something?" Percy smirked and Jason and Nico just stared at him in horror.
"Well, now," Connor had a gleam in his eyes. "I can't let you do that," And Jason and Nico groaned. "At least, not without me, Prank Expert, best person you'll find for practical jokes, thievery, and trade and travel. Sneak out at midnight. And Percy..."
"Yeah?"
"Take the pen."
...
Ron Weasley was worried.
He felt like Percy, Jason, and Nico were mad at him.
And Percy-For an eleven year old, he was strong. And they all gave off...power, confidence, and sadness. Be really didn't want to cross them.
"Where are you going?" Harry asked when Ron had gotten up.
"Percy, Jason, and Nico left the compartment for no reason, just suddenly...Shouldn't we see if they are okay?"
"I don't know, they've been acting a little weirdly."
"C'mon."
"Alright."
They got up and sat across from the trio.
"Hey," Harry said when they didn't stop heir conversation.
"Oh," Percy said, "So you remember us now, don't you? Do we exist again?"
"What do you mean?" Harry looked confused, but Ron had a sinking feeling in his stomach.
"You know something, Harry, sometimes, you are really thick."
"Hey! Why are you acting so weird today?"
"Us? We're weird?" Nico rose, his face scowling.
But then, Percy got a panic stricken look on his face, and Jason went pale.
"Nico!" He said, taking Percy and putting him over his shoulder as life began to drain away, his face getting more pale by the second.
"Get Connor! Nico, get Connor! I will get him outside." Jason ran out of the Great Hall, and Harry turned to Nico.
"Slow down! What's happening?"
Nico scowled and broke his hand free, running to Professor Stoll, saying, "Saving his gods damn life!"
Harry stepped back paralysed.
Professor Stoll ran out of the Great Hall, followed by Nico.
"Come on!" Harry said to me, and we followed then outside.
"No." Nico blocked us. "Go inside. Forget about us. It's not like you were acting like our friend on the train, Harry. We were always your only friends, you were ours. But on the train, suddenly you are popular, have a new friend, and we don't exist. We have been through enough. Just leave us alone, continue ignoring us. It seems like you preferred it that way, anyway."
Then, he shut the door in our faces, and Harry frowned.
"I didn't know I was acting like that. I didn't know they felt like that..."
...
Jason Grace was running.
He dipped Percy in the Lake with Connor Stoll following.
"He's fading!" I yelled to him. "Help him!"
Connor came running, a yellow square and flask of a yellowish orange liquid, like Apple Juice, and knelt beside Percy.
"Open his mouth for me," Connor said, and when I did, he forced the weird food down Percy's throat.
When we got Percy to swallow, Connor smiled without humour. Then, he shoved Percy, face first, into the Lake until he submerged completely.
'Why are you letting your friend drown?' Is probably what your thinking. But Percy has always had a strange relationship with water.
When they got out, Percy did something unexpected. He reached out, whispered, "Mom..." And passed out. Too bad for exploring the castle.
...
Connor Stoll knew what was happening. His memory was stating to come back. Connor guessed that all of their memories would fully come back at the end of the year.
Phase Four was complete.
