Reassurence
Was it this way? Or maybe the other? Quinn thought groaning audibly. She had never been good with directions, and this was just the perfect time to show that. The poor girl even asked how to get to my room that she'd be staying in. The maid even offered to escort to there but she politely refused. The poor girl looked exhausted, and Quinn didn't want to burden her with an extra task.
And now she was wandering the gargantuan halls of the palace. Art pieces were scattered on the walls which She took great interest in. The family portraits were by far my favorite. The skin was perfected, the eye color was so precise, and the folds in their expensive clothing resembled closely to real life. The brunette found great admiration to those who painted the royals.
"Beautiful aren't they?" A female voice said from behind her making her jump in great surprise. Quinn whipped my head around in her direction.
As soon as she relax my laugh that Quinn let out seemed extremely fake. "Hello there." She greeted smiling at her. "Are you lost miss? Everyone should have been at there rooms by now. Your maids must be worried sick! What's your name darling?" She asked kindly.
"Oh um...It's Quinn. That's my name." She said nervous for some reason. Meeting new people wasn't easy for her.
"Quinn...Fallon?" She inquired, and she confirmed her guess with a single nod. "We must get you to your room then. You're maids must be very worried." She said and began leading the way back to me room. She must have wandered far because it took a few minutes before they arrived there. She opened the door for Quinn and she curtsied my thanks.
She entered the room and my eyes went wide immediately. It was so similar to her own. How in the world? It was so very blue just like my room back home. The similarity was more then shocking. It had a desk and a bookshelf, a sofa too!
"Quinn, darling, I was so worried you wouldn't show!" One voice said.
"Yes, I was about to send out a search party for you." The second one said.
The last didn't say anything at all but merely smiled at her.
Each were very unique and looked very different. The first one was tall, taller then Quinn herself. She had a good figure. She introduced herself as Aquila. The second was just as tall as Quinn but had a wider body. She was just as kind as the first. Her name was Flora. The last one was short and was apparently mute. She knew a sign language so communicating wasn't entirely impossible. Her name was Lily.
"I am allowed to send letters to my family correct?" Quinn asked crossing her fingers. She didn't know what she would do if she couldn't communicate with her brothers.
"Of course, darling. It would be harsh if we didn't allow that." Aquila told her with a small laugh.
"My, my, my! Quinn you're dress it's, it's well not appropriate for the dinner. Did you come meet the princes in that?" Flora asked as if it were the ugliest thing she had ever seen.
Quinn looked down at her dress. It wasn't even a dress really. It looked more like a maids uniform. It was worse then there own. "Yes, I did. I didn't have anything suitable at home." Her cheeks were flushed with embarrassment. She wasn't prepared at all for this.
"Lily! Prepare the dresses at once! We are going to turn Quinn into a beautiful princess!" There is again. Every girl's fantasy.
Lily came out with a closet of dresses. It was like the colors of the rainbow right in front of my eyes. "Brown hair, bright blue eyes, pale complexion. Flora, I'm thinking either a red or blue dress with her hair up in a bun and having two strands of hair curled to frame her face." Aquila proposed. Blue! Please choose blue!
"Red would definitely be best." Flora said, and it looked like Lily agreed. She hid her disappointment and just nodded smiling slightly.
The maids helped her put on the complicated contraption and gave her black heels to match. The good thing was that the dress matched Quinn's red ruby earrings. They were her mother and was like an heirloom. Sure, she didn't love her daughter but she left them in her possession for some reason. Quinn had yet to figure that out. She still loved her and valued the gems more then anything.
The maids did her makeup and used a lot of bronzer making her face a lot skinner then it was. Red lip stick to match, and they even gave Quinn a bracelet for the occasion. She looked at herself in the mirror, and her skinny brown curls really did frame her face well. She looked well...pretty. She felt beautiful.
But my long face said otherwise. Inside she felt like a nervous wreck. Quinn didn't think she was ready for dinner with the princes and other selected. Her insides were shaking.
"Quinn. It's natural to be nervous. You'll do great don't worry. Just try to look confident." Flora encouraged. She smiled a bit but her face soon returned to its previous state.
Quinn felt Lily's small hand on my shoulder and smiled at her gently. They all seemed to think she would do great but her brain was clouded with negative thoughts. Maybe they were right. She just had to stay positive. Thinking negatively won't do anything for her. A smile finally crept on to the blue eyed girl's face. "I'll try my best." She said sounding more confident then before. Quinn stood up from the stool she was sitting on and hugged all the maids. "Thank you so much. I owe this all to you." They all grinned at her encouraging her silently to go on.
Quinn took a deep breath and nodded. She walked through the door with her newfound confidence and felt completely reassured that she could do this.
