Robin was pacing in the batcave, Batman was typing something into the batcomputer and neither of them had spoken for what felt like an eternity. Robin finally broke the silence, "Have you found anything yet?"

Batman didn't even look away from the screen, "No, have you felt anything?"

Robin felt like pulling his hair out, "Of course I have, it hasn't stopped for the past several days."

Batman finished typing on the batcomputer, Robin walked over and when they saw what was on the screen they were shocked and angry. Batman stood up, "We need to do something about this."

The two then heard a beep and Batman glared at nothing, "I'm needed at the watchtower."

Robin groaned, "Then what are we going to do?!"

Batman looked at Robin, "We have very few options at the moment, and we can't wait, we'll have to tell the team."

Robin's eyes widened, "But what if-."

Batman cut him off, "We'll have to tell them, everything, if we don't we risk making the situation even worse. Spirit gave us permission to tell them if we deemed it absolutely necessary, this is one of the few situations where I'm deeming it necessary."

Robin paused for a second as he thought before he sighed, "He's going to be so mad."

"It's our best option, we have to get him as soon as we can and if the team doesn't know it could result in a cataclysm of events that we can't allow to happen."

Robin mentally sighed before he nodded, the two discussed what to tell the team before they left a few minutes later. When they got to the mountain the team walked in and many of them looked confused, they already knew something was up. Aqualad spoke, "Where is Spirit?"

Superboy spoke, "None of us have seen him for a few days."

Batman spoke, "That's why we're here, he's missing."

They all looked shocked and worried, Kid Flash spoke, "No way!"

Miss Martian spoke, "What happened?"

Batman brought up a picture of some agents wearing mostly white, "He was taken by these people, they're a government branch called the GIW."

Kid Flash's eyes widened, "Hey, they look like those guys from Bialya."

Rocket looked confused, "Hold on, what guys from Bialya?"

Aqualad spoke, "Several months ago the team went on a mission to Bialya before you and Zatanna joined. Our memories were erased and Spirit was missing, after we got our memories back we went to look for Spirit. Men that looked like the ones in that picture tried to shoot us but Spirit stopped them, though he was badly injured."

Superboy spoke, "Spirit told us he got hurt in a fight because he was outnumbered."

Robin looked away, "That's, uh, not actually what happened."

The heroes looked confused and Batman spoke, "During the mission in Bialya Spirit was taken by the agents. Because they didn't know who he was they tortured him for information on who you all were and why you were there. Spirit wouldn't tell them anything which is why his injuries were so severe, he decided not to tell all of you."

Artemis spoke, "Why wouldn't he tell us he got tortured?!"

Robin hesitated before he answered, "He didn't want to tell you because he didn't think you'd care."

Miss Martian looked hurt, "Why wouldn't we care?"

Robin sighed, "Spirit has trust issues, he thinks you're only willing to be around him because of Batman. He doesn't feel like he belongs on the team which is why he hardly talks to all of you and why he doesn't call any of you by your real names."

Zatanna spoke, "But why did these guys kidnap Spirit at all?"

Batman answered, "Spirit keeps all of this a secret, he gave me permission to tell you if I ever thought it was absolutely necessary, because he was kidnapped it's clear that you need to know what happened. When Spirit was younger they experimented on and tortured him before killing him when he was eight years old. He soon escaped and eventually ended up in Gotham where Robin and I met him, we learned about the GIW much later."

Superboy spoke, "So the government experimented on him?"

Batman nodded, "They were attempting to make him into a weapon, they thought using a child would be easier then using an adult. After three years they got impatient and killed him, which leads to something else you all need to know. Because of the way Spirit was killed he didn't become a full ghost, he became a half ghost half human hybrid."

Kid Flash spoke, "But that's not possible."

Robin mentally sighed, "It would take too long to explain the science behind it but it's true, Spirit is half human."

Batman continued, "But that's not all, about two years ago Spirit was turned into a vampire ghost, a rare supernatural creature that was hunted to near extinction. He's the last vampire ghost in existence, if people found out about what he is he would be in even more danger then he is now. But around the same time that he was turned he also defeated a ghost named Pariah Dark."

"Spirit later found out he was the former king of the ghosts, because Spirit beat him he became the prince, and later king, of the ghost zone."

Rocket spoke, "Wait, Spirit is a king?!"

Batman nodded, "There's more, after he was turned he met the king of the vampires since he was technically one of them. He was later named the second heir to the vampire throne, making him a powerful figure to many supernatural creatures."

Zatanna spoke, "But how do we know what you're telling us is actually true, who would make a thirteen year old a king?"

Batman brought up a few pictures, one was of Spirit, one was of someone wearing a black shirt and pants with white gloves, boots, and a belt. They also wore a white cloak that looked like it turned into white flames toward the bottom. There was a flaming green crown on their head and a green ring on their right hand, their hood was down which revealed none other then Spirit.

The third picture showed someone wearing a black coat with the hood up, a black button up shirt, black pants, black boots, black fingerless gloves, and a black belt. His eyes were red but they still knew it was Spirit, they were all shocked by how different Spirit looked in each picture. Batman spoke, "The second picture is of the ghost king, the third is of the second heir to the vampire throne."

Artemis still looked shocked as she spoke, "How did we not know about this?"

Robin spoke, "Spirit's good at keeping secrets."

Batman mentally sighed, "Spirit didn't want you to know, both for his protection and yours, he does have a lot of allies but he also a lot of enemies. After he became king of the ghosts he worked on strengthening relationships with other supernatural kingdoms. Now he's highly respected because of what he's done for all of the other kingdoms, which is why this is such a dire situation."

Aqualad spoke, "What do you mean?"

"Spirit is respected among supernatural creatures, he's been hurt by hunters and other rouge creatures before. When that happened anyone that found out was angry, especially if humans were involved since they never had any reason to hurt him. But if they found out that the government kidnapped him, let alone tortured him, there would be an uproar."

"In the past Spirit has stopped others from retaliating against humans but he might not be able to stop them this time. If they find out it could start a war, and I honestly doubt that it's one we could win if that happened."

Miss Martian spoke, "But why do we need to know all of this?"

"Because there's no telling what they've already done to Spirit, you need to be prepared for what you might see. You also need to know why this has to stay a secret, no one can know that Spirit was kidnapped or who he is. You can't tell your mentors, your parent, your friends, no one, if you do there will be serious consequences."

Aqualad nodded, "Understood, so what do we do?"

Robin brought up a few images, "Spirit's being held in a GIW facility halfway across the US, it'll take at least three hours to get there using the bio-ship. We're pretty sure Spirit was caught about five days ago which means we need to rescue him as soon as possible. We need to try to get in and out without anyone knowing we were there, they could hurt Spirit and he probably won't be able to fight."

Batman spoke, "You'll need to cause a distraction to lure as many of the agents away from the building as possible. Robin will hack into the buildings systems so you don't trip any alarms, if any cameras in the building are already out you'll check those rooms for Spirit. If you can see him on one of the cameras then get him but make sure you don't run into any agents."

"As soon as you have Spirit get him out of the building and back to the mountain as soon as possible. If someone sees you before you find Spirit then finding him is your one and only priority. If you're seen after you find him then get out of the building immediately and don't let the agents get anywhere near Spirit."

The young heroes nodded, they turned to leave so they could go to the bio-ship and Robin looked worried. Batman looked at Robin, "He'll be fine Robin."

Robin looked at the ground, "He's not fine right now, I don't know what they're doing to him but it's like he's screaming."

Batman frowned, "I know you're worried, and feeling when he's being hurt doesn't help, but he's strong, you have to trust him."

Robin nodded and he left the room, he was going to get his boyfriend back.
