(Parts of 21, 22, and 23)

The next day at the mountain Kid Flash walked up to Spirit, the halfa was a bit confused but he didn't say anything. Kid Flash looked at him, "Hey, uh, I just, wanted to say thanks."

Spirit raised an eyebrow, "For?"

Kid Flash paused, he didn't think he'd have to explain why he was thanking Spirit, he thought it was obvious. "Well, during the whole ice fortress thing you offered to go instead so I could fight with the League. I know Batman shot you down but you were still willing to go for me so, uh, thanks for that."

"So you felt the need to thank me for that?"

Kid Flash looked confused, "Well, yeah, I feel like I don't know you that well but you still tried to help me so, yeah, I'm thanking you."

Spirit looked away before he smiled, "You're really strange you know that?"

Kid Flash looked absolutely stunned before his face lit up, "You smiled!"

The speedsters shouting got the attention of the rest of the team and Spirit immediately stopped smiling. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Kid Flash looked excited, "No, you did, you smiled, I've never seen you smile before!"

Artemis looked at him, "What are you talking about?"

Kid Flash turned to her, "Spirit smiled, he's the only one on the team that hasn't smiled yet!"

Robin spoke, "I've seen him smile before."

"Well the rest of us haven't, I'm counting this as a win."

Spirit rolled his eyes, "Keep telling yourself that speedster."

Kid Flash looked slightly confused but when he turned back Spirit was gone, none of them knew what to think about the whole thing. Several days later Spirit got to the mountain and Robin looked upset, Spirit got worried and sat next to Robin on the couch. "Okay, what happened?"

Robin groaned, "Since Aqualad wasn't on the last mission I had to lead the team and I kept messing up."

Spirit mentally sighed, "Do you want to tell me what happened on the mission?"

Robin sighed before he told Spirit about the mission, Spirit listened quietly and didn't say a word while Robin told him everything. When he got to the part about Simon and the state he was in when they woke up Spirit was a bit confused. The damage seemed a bit excessive for a fight, even if it was a psychic one Miss Martian could have stopped him without breaking his mind.

When Robin was done telling Spirit about what happened Spirit hugged him, "You did the best you could Robin. You couldn't have known what would happen but you still managed to stop Queen Bee and that's the important thing. Yes you made some mistakes but so does everyone else, those mistakes don't make you a bad leader, they make you human, and that's a good thing."

Robin smiled and he hugged Spirit back, "I have no idea how you can always make me feel better when something bad happens."

Spirit smiled, "Well I wouldn't be a very good boyfriend if I couldn't make you feel better."

Robin smiled and hugged Spirit a little tighter for a few minutes before he spoke again, "I really want to stay here but I have to go. You just got here and I know you're tired so stay and relax, I'll be back later so wait until I get back."

Spirit mentally sighed, "Fine, but you better get back soon." Robin smiled and kissed Spirit before he got up and left, Spirit hoped he'd be back soon, he didn't feel comfortable being in the mountain without him. Less then a minute later Miss Martian walked into the room and she looked a little worried and sad.

Spirit mentally sighed, he needed to figure out what was wrong, "So, what's bothering you?"

Miss Martian jumped a little and she looked at Spirit, "Oh, Spirit, I didn't know you were there."

"I figured, now will you answer my question?" Miss Martian hesitated and Spirit had her sit on the couch next to him and she looked incredibly troubled. "Are you going to tell me or do I have to guess?"

Miss Martian quietly sighed, "Have you ever had a secret you never wanted anyone to know?"

Spirit leaned back on the couch, "Yup."

Miss Martian's eyes widened a little and she looked at him, "Really?"

Spirit looked at her, "Is that really surprising to you?"

Miss Martian looked away for a second, "I didn't think you'd have any secrets like that."

Spirit shrugged, "I have a lot of secrets like that."

Miss Martian looked confused, "Like what?"

Spirit hummed, "Let me ask you something, do you know my real name?" Miss Martian's eyes widened again and Spirit turned away and smirked, "That's what I thought." Spirit looked at Miss Martian, "You don't have to tell me what it is but I am here if you want to talk."

Miss Martian went quiet for a minute, "But what if you hated me when you found out?"

Spirit looked her in the eye, "Miss Martian, I'm dead, people hate ghosts more then anything else, have you seen the movies? I won't hate you, whether you're just different from other people, if you did something horrible, even if it's something bad that happened to you. I won't hate you, I might be a little shocked, but I won't hate you."

Miss Martian looked a bit shocked before she smiled and hugged him, she actually hugged him. "Thank you Spirit."

Spirit froze for a second but he soon hugged the martian back, he wasn't expecting it but he knew he should still hug her back. After a few seconds Miss Martian let him go, "I can't tell you what it is now but maybe I will when I feel ready."

Spirit smiled a little, "You can tell me when you want to, I won't make you tell me, it is your secret after all."

Miss Martian smiled and hugged him again, "Thanks, you're a good friend." Miss Martian let him go before she got up and left looking much happier then she did before. Spirit was shocked that she actually called him her friend but it actually made him happy, maybe he fit in with the team more then he thought.

Another few days passed before he noticed that something was off about Superboy, he wasn't sure what though. Superboy went to work on his bike alone and Spirit figured that it was as good a time as any to try and figure out what was wrong. Spirit walked into the garage and Superboy didn't notice him so Spirit stood next to the kryptonian.

"Okay, care to tell me what the hell is wrong?"

Superboy looked at him, "What are you talking about?"

"Don't play dumb with me, lately you've been either angry or you isolate yourself, I know something is bothering you."

Superboy glared at him, "I'm fine."

"No, you're not, you want to know how I know, every time I say 'I'm fine' I'm usually lying."

Superboy looked a little shocked before he looked away and sighed, "Fine, maybe something is wrong."

"Now we're getting somewhere." Spirit sat down next to Superboy, "Now do you want to talk about it?"

Superboy thought about it for a minute, he didn't know why but he kind of did want to talk to Spirit despite not knowing the ghost boy very well. "What if I'm not who, or even what, I thought I was?"

Spirit hummed, "I can understand that."

Superboy glared at him, "How could you possibly understand?"

Spirit mentally sighed, "I used to be human, I used to have a heartbeat, I used to be normal. But now I don't have to wonder what it's like to die, I became something completely different because I died. So yeah, I get it, because let me tell you becoming a ghost is one hell of a kick in the teeth."

Superboy actually looked like he felt bad and he looked away, "I'm sorry."

Spirit shrugged, "It's not like it really matters anyway, so what happened to make you think like that?"

Superboy was a bit surprised by how quickly Spirit changed the subject but he answered Spirit's question anyway. "I found out something that I wish I hadn't."

"And what you found out caused you to have an existential crisis?"

Superboy nodded, he wouldn't look at Spirit, "How am I supposed to forget about something like that?"

"Simple, you don't." Superboy looked at Spirit, he was about to say something but Spirit held up a hand to stop him, "You can't forget it. If something is affecting you this much then it's important, it's a part of you, you can't just forget something like that. You have to accept it, either that or let it ruin your life, just accept it and move on, you don't have to let it change who you are."

Superboy looked a bit surprised, Spirit got up and brushed off his pants, "That's my advice at least, but you have no reason to listen to me."

Spirit then started walking out of the garage and Superboy spoke, "Wait." Spirit stopped and looked at him, "How do I accept it?"

Spirit shrugged, "That's up to you, I can't tell you how to accept it, you have to do that yourself." Spirit walked out of the room and walked into the living room before sitting next to Robin in the living room.

Robin looked at Spirit, "Where were you?"

"Nowhere important."

Robin looked slightly confused, "Is there something you're not telling me?"

Spirit laughed a little, "I just talked to Superboy, you don't have to worry." Robin smiled a little and hugged Spirit, it seemed like the halfa was finally starting to get used to the team.

Another few days passed and Spirit noticed that something was off, he and Robin hadn't been able to go to the mountain when the team had a mission. Well, only part of the team did, apparently during that time Red Arrow had joined the team and Spirit wasn't sure how to feel about it. But what stuck out the most was that Kid Flash and Artemis weren't talking to each other.

Spirit mentally sighed and he went to find Artemis first to hopefully figure out what was going on. He found Artemis in the souvenir room looking less then happy, Spirit sighed, "Why do you look like someone insulted you?"

Artemis glared at him, "None of your business."

"Actually it is my business, because when two people I know seem to be fighting it usually just gets worse."

Artemis kept glaring at him, "You don't get it do you, you have no idea what it's like to have family and friends that don't believe in you."

"You're right, I don't, because I don't have any friends or family."

Artemis looked shocked, she then looked guilty, "I didn't mean-."

Spirit cut her off, "It's fine, now tell me why you and Kid Flash are fighting."

Artemis hesitated before she mentally sighed and explained what happened during the mission. Spirit quietly listened to everything she had to say about what happened and Artemis told him everything she was thinking. Spirit seemed to be one of those people you always felt like you could talk to, no matter what was bothering you.

When Artemis was done Spirit thought about it for a minute, "There aren't any easy answers to all of that. You're basically standing in the shadow of someone that was here before you, someone you feel like you can't compete with."

Artemis looked angry, "And because I messed up everyone hates me now."

Spirit shook his head, "No, it might seem like that but it's really not, after all, I have no reason to hate you." Artemis looked surprised and Spirit continued, "But you don't have to compete with anyone, yes they were here before you but you're not them, you're you. Honestly that's the best thing you can be, if anyone wants you to change just because you're not like someone else then they're not worth your time."

Artemis spoke, "Why do you say that?"

Spirit mentally sighed, "Because one day someone will care about you for who you are instead of who you're not." Artemis looked surprised and Spirit left the room before going to find Kid Flash and getting his side of the story.

He found Kid Flash in the kitchen, no one else was around so Spirit decided to see if he could talk to Kid Flash. "So, why are you mad at Artemis?"

Kid Flash paused and he looked angry, "Because she's insecure and selfish."

"Why do you say that?" It was at that point that Kid Flash went into a slightly loud and very angry rant about what Artemis did. Spirit didn't say a word, just watched as the speedster paced and listened to him vent his anger.

By the time he was done he was out of breath and Spirit spoke, "Do you feel better now?"

Kid Flash sighed heavily, "A little."

"Good, now let me ask you something, have you thought about why Artemis did all of that?"

Kid Flash paused, "Because she's trying to prove she's better then Red Arrow, why else?"

Spirit shook his head, "That's not why, it's because she's scared."

Kid Flash paused, "What?"

"Think about it, Red Arrow was here long before she was, you, Robin, and Aqualad have known him way longer then you've known her. Not only that but she's trying to live up to someone she feels she'll never be able to match. She's living in the shadow that Red Arrow cast before she even met any of you, she's worried that you might decide you don't need her because Red Arrow is here."

Kid Flash looked shocked, "What, we'd never do that?"

"Really, because every time you've talked about Red Arrow you've made it seem like you'd get rid of her in a heartbeat if it meant you could have Red Arrow. Especially the first time Red Arrow came to the mountain, you didn't even give her a chance before pushing her aside."

Kid Flash looked absolutely stunned as he thought about what Spirit said before he facepalmed, "I messed up."

"Yeah, now go fix this goddamn mess." Kid Flash immediately went to find Artemis, he didn't want to know what Spirit would do if he wasted time. Spirit walked into the living room and sat down on the couch before sighing, what the hell was going on lately?
