"Leena, wake up, it's time to go." Kane was getting better at waking me up as he gently shook my shoulder.

Opening my eyes, I groaned as I looked at him, shaking my head. "What do you mean?" I yawned as I rubbed my eyes. The rain last night was enough to get rid of any evidence from my tears.

He flicked his head to the side and I noticed a group of soldiers starting to tie the Elves up in two lines behind the horses, but I didn't see Thalian. "They're going to escort us to town, said they'd even give us a place to stay once there. I told them we were robbed so they are going to supply us with some basics."

I didn't understand, I was still too foggy. "We are not going with them?" It was more of a question than a statement.

Kane laughed weakly and placed a hand on my cheek, unknown to me, but to wipe away the dirt. "Yes, we are. They're offering us the best deal we are going to see and we need to talk to someone in charge to get some answers."

Shaking my head, I sighed as I pulled my hair out of the still soaked braid, "No, I am taking you home Kane."

That made Kane instantly sober up and almost fell back, "What, why? We haven't found any answers yet."

"It may take me years to find answers and it will be dangerous."

Kane waved me off, "My life is normally dangerous and so what if it takes years here? So I miss a month back home. I'm not leaving you here Leena, you shouldn't be alone right now anyway. Plus, with what you just found out, I wouldn't be shocked if you did something stupid and got yourself killed." When I opened my mouth to object, he shook his head and cut me off. "I don't want to hear it, now get up and pretend to be my Fiance."

Letting out a slow breath, I nodded, "Thank you, Kane," I whispered and he stood up, offering me his hand to help me to my feet.

"Of course, also, have the sniffles or something. Looks weird that you were out here all night, sleeping through the rain." I blushed a bit and looked down, "Which I also have questions about." Kane added in a moment later as he led me to the group.

Kane kept an arm around me as we walked over to the others and I knew I probably looked like hell. My hair had to be a mess and I was still in my jeans and tank top from the human world. Everything was still damp and now covered with mud, "I am sorry, but I fear I do not have an extra horse, so you and your Fiance will have to ride together." Captain Laritus said as he motioned us over to a horse which was already loaded up, Thalian tied to the back by himself. "Your pet has also been taken care of," Captain Laritus started to say as he nodding his head to Kane, "You got yourself a good man there. Used what you had left to get your pet back for you and your future family. Once again, I am sorry for your loss."

I froze and looked at Kane, my broken heart warmed for a second, "What-How?" I was stuttering to ask before glancing to Thalian; he even looked like he was bathed. He was no longer completed coated in dirt, his pale skin was almost its normal white and his silver hair was not stained brown with mud.

Thalian nodded and his rose-coloured lips turned into a bit of a smile before looking down. "You know I would do anything for you, Honey, and I believed this mutt would help you through this difficult time more than my father's blade." I frowned a bit, not understanding. Kane smiled faintly as he offered me his hand to help me onto the horse; as if I needed help. "You remember, the silver one you got while you were with me." My eyes widened as I got on and Kane mounted the horse so he was behind me, "Don't worry, I shaved down the part which said 'Made in China'." Kane breathed in my ear. 

I bit back a laugh, especially as Captain Laritus began to compliment the blade. "I normally do not accept trades for them, but your Fiance made a good argument and the dagger was like nothing I have ever seen before."

"Thank you, both of you," I said before turning as much as I could in Kane's arms to face him, "You are an idiot," I mumbled before kissing his cheek.

He laughed and grinned and I could feel him tense as Captain Laritus mounted his horse and motioned for everyone to follow as he took off. "I've never ridden a horse before, I'm shocked I got up here." He whispered in my ear.

I certainly had a lot to teach him. "Keep your arms around me, hands on mine. I will make it look like you are doing the work." I told him softly as I grabbed the reigns and lightly flicked them. I didn't want the horse to go too fast, especially since Thalian still had the collar on, connecting him to the horse.

Kane did what I said and I relaxed against him. My heart still hurt, but a night in the rain and letting out all that anger helped. I still had plans on making them pay and with Kane and Thalian by my side, my odds of succeeding increased.
