I lie in bed waiting for my alarm clock to go off. I am most definitely not looking forward to the moment when I'll actually have to drag myself out of bed.
Today is the first day of school. Not only that, but my first day at a completely new school in a completely new town. Just fantastic. I'm absolutely leaping for joy.
Why did my stupid uncle have to get a new job offer in this stupid town? It's not a poor town, probably a tad bit above average. I live in a small, 3 bedroom, two story house.
I listen to my uncle brew his coffee and walk out the door and drive off to work. I think about dinner last night and the conversation I had with him.

"Asty." ( that's the nickname he gave me when I was five) "We've been here, what, a week? Have you tried making any friends?" He asks chewing his green beans.
I stare at the full plate of food in front of me. I'm more of the keep to myself, shoving everyone away type, so I don't understand why he is acting so surprised. I really only had three close friends at my last school.
"I want you to get to know these kids. Who knows, maybe you will find your Romeo and Juliet story." he offers for encouragement.
"You realize they both end up dead, right?" I tell him.
"Ok, bad example. You know what I mean though. I just want you to be happy. your parents would want you to be happy."
"Yeah, we'll they're not here so..." I trail off.
"Just try. For your sake. you would have more fun, and the school year would fly by a lot faster," he adds pushing his chair back and rising to take his plate to the sink.
"Uncle Finn." I say after a moment.
He looks at me from where he stands in the kitchen.
"Thank you for taking me in after my parents passed away. I know I cause you a lot of problems."
He shakes his head. "No. You're the only family I have. I'm glad to spend everyday with you." he responds showing me a gentle smile. I return the gesture handing him my plate.
