Chapter 9

I sit in Hiccup's garage discussing the songs for tonight. Then I have to teach them a few of mine.

"I still can't believe how amazing you did last night. You're a natural." Hiccup tells me again. "So you write your own songs?"

"Yeah. It's actually pretty simple. I just write down how I'm feeling."

He nods knowing what I mean. "I wrte most of our songs too."
🔹🔹🔹

"Good evening! We are going to do it a little different tonight." Punzie says. "Tonight, girls go first." She smiles as the crowd screams. "The song's called 'I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week'."

I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week

ll make this painless.
Try to be sweet.
I could break your heart any day of the week.

Squeeze life out of you.
Wrap you in sheets.
I could break your heart any day of the week.

I could break your heart any day of the week.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
I'll make you loving.
Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
Do not you disturb you.
Sunday rolls around- but that's another story.
It gets a little boring.
I could break your heart any day of the week.

I hold on to you.
You hold on me
I could break your heart any day of the week.

Let the walls talk.
Let the four walls creek.
I could break your heart any day of the week.
Those calendar girls-- they got nothing of me.

Yeah-yeah.
Yeah-yeah.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
I'll make you loving.
Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
Do not you disturb you.
Sunday rolls around- but that's another story.
It gets a little boring.

I could turn you on.
I could turn the other cheek.
And it would break your heart any day of the week.
And it would break your heart any day of the week.
I could break your heart any day of the week.
I could break your heart any day of the week.
I could break your heart any day of the week.

"Give it up for Punzie everybody!" I'm Merida."

Ain't it Fun
(The people in the back ground are the band members)

I don't mind letting you down easy
But just give it time
If it don't hurt now then just wait, just wait a while

You're not the big fish in the pond no more
You are what they're feeding on

So what are you gonna do when the world don't orbit around you?
So what are you gonna do when the world don't orbit around you?

Ain't it fun living in the real world
Ain't it good being all alone

Where you're from
You might be the one who's running things
Well, you can ring anybody's bell to get what you want

You see, it's easy to ignore a trouble
When you're living in a bubble

So what are you gonna do when the world don't orbit around you?
So what are you gonna do when nobody wants to fool with you?

Ain't it fun living in the real world
Ain't it good being all alone

Ain't it good to be on your own
Ain't it fun you can't count on no one
Ain't it good to be on your own
Ain't it fun you can't count on no one

Ain't it fun living in the real world

Don't go crying to your mama 'cause you're on your own in the real world
Don't go crying to your mama 'cause you're on your own in the real world
Don't go crying to your mama 'cause you're on your own in the real world
Don't go crying to your mama 'cause you're on your own in the real world

Ain't it fun
Ain't it fun
Baby, now you're one of us
Ain't it fun
Ain't it fun

Ain't it fun

Ain't it fun living in the real world
Ain't it good, ain't it good being all alone

Ain't it fun living in the real world
('Cause the world don't orbit around you)
Ain't it good, ain't it good being all alone (oh)

Don't go crying to your mama 'cause you're on your own in the real world
(Down to your mama)
Don't go crying to your mama 'cause you're on your own in the real world
(Don't go crying to your mama)
Don't go crying to your mama 'cause you're on your own in the real world
(Oh, this is the real world)
Don't go crying to your mama 'cause you're on your own in the real world
(Don't go crying to your mama)
This is the real world
This is the real world

Don't go crying to your mama 'cause you're on your own in the real world
Don't go crying to your mama 'cause you're on your own in the real world
Don't go crying to your mama 'cause you're on your own in the real world
Don't go crying to your mama 'cause you're on your own in the real world

"Hello, I'm Astrid Hofferson. I'm the newest member. And we'll I hope you like my song." I say nervously.

Bad Reputation
(The guys in the back ground are Jack and Hiccup)

I don't give a -- 'bout my reputation
You're living in the past it's a new generation
A girl can do what she wants to do and that's
What I'm gonna do
An' I don't give a -- ' bout my bad reputation

Oh no not me

An' I don't give a -- 'bout my reputation
Never said I wanted to improve my station
An' I'm only doin' good
When I'm havin' fun
An' I don't have to please no one
An' I don't give a damn
'Bout my bad reputation

Oh no, not me
Oh no, not me

I don't give a --
'Bout my reputation
I've never been afraid of any deviation
An' I don't really care
If ya think I'm strange
I ain't gonna change
An' I'm never gonna care
'Bout my bad reputation

Oh no, not me
Oh no, not me

Pedal boys!

An' I don't give a --
'Bout my reputation
The world's in trouble
There's no communication
An' everyone can say
What they want to say
It never gets better anyway
So why should I care
'Bout a bad reputation anyway
Oh no, not me
Oh no, not me

I don't give a -- 'bout my bad reputation
You're living in the past
It's a new generation
An' I only feel good
When I got no pain
An' that's how I'm gonna stay
An' I don't give a --
'Bout my bad reputation

Oh no, not me
Oh no, not
Not me, not me

"That performance was killer! I'm Jack. This song goes out to my love. Elsa, I'll follow you home." he says making eye contact with her as he grins.

Follow You Home

Well you can dig me up a grave
And try and stick me in the ground
Well you can tie me to the bed
And try and beat me half to death
But you can never keep me down
Well you can stick me in a hole
And you can pray all day for rain
You can shoot me in the leg
Just to try to make me beg
And you can leave me there for days

[CHORUS]
And I'll stay alive
Just to follow you home
And I will survive
'Cause you're my Mississippi Princess
You're my California Queen
Like the Duchess of Detroit
And every city in between
You can slap me in the face
You can scream profanity
Leave me here to die alone but
I'll still follow you home
I'll still follow you home

You can make a couple calls
And tell your brothers I'm in town
Put a bounty on my head
And tell my parents that I'm dead
And hope to hell I'm never found
You can steal me the keys
To your daddy's Cadillac
You can tamper with the brakes
Call it a mistake
And pray I'm never coming back

[CHORUS]

You can dig me up a grave
And try and stick me in the ground
You can tie me to the bed
And try and beat me half to death
But you can never keep me down

And I will survive
'Cause you're my Mississippi Princess
You're my California Queen
Like the Duchess of Detroit
And every city in between
You can slap me in the face
You can scream profanity
Leave me here to die alone but
I'll still follow you home
I'll still follow you home

"I'm Hiccup!" I laugh at the crazed reactions he gets.

Saturday
( the other guy is Jack )

I'm good to go
And I'm going nowhere fast
It could be worse
It could be taking you there with me
I'm good to go
But it looks like I'm still on my own

I'm good to go
For something golden
Though the motions I've been going through have failed
And I'm coasting on potential towards a wall
At a 100 miles an hour

When I say
Two more weeks
My foot is in the door (yeah)
I can't sleep
In the wake of Saturday (Saturday)
Saturday
When these open doors were open-ended
Saturday
When these open doors were open-ended

Pete and I attacked the laws of Astoria
with promise and precision and mess of youthful innocence
And I read about the afterlife
But I never really lived more than an hour (more than an hour)

When I say
Two more weeks
My foot is in the door (yeah)
I can't sleep
In the wake of Saturday (Saturday)
Saturday
When these open doors were open-ended
Saturday
When these open doors were open-ended

And I read about the afterlife
But I never really lived
And I read about the afterlife
But I never really lived

Two more weeks
My foot is in the door
Me and Pete
In the wake of Saturday
Saturday
When these open doors were open-ended
Saturday
When these open doors were open-ended
Saturday
Saturday

"Hi. This one's called Here's to never growing up." I say taking center stage again.

Here's to Never Growing Up
(The guys are Jack and Hiccup again)

Singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs
With the boom box blaring as we're falling in love
I got a bottle of whatever, but it's getting us drunk
Singing here's to never growing up

Call up all our friends, go hard this weekend
For no damn reason, I don't think we'll ever change
Meet you at the spot, half past ten o'clock
We don't ever stop, and we're never gonna change

Say, won't you stay forever
Stay, if you stay forever
Hey, we can stay forever young

Singing Radiohead at the top of our lungs
With the boom box blaring as we're falling in love
I got a bottle of whatever, but it's getting us drunk
Singing here's to never growing up

We'll be running down the street, yelling kiss my
I'm like yeah whatever, we're still livin' like that
When the sun's going down, we'll be raising our cups
Singing here's to never growing up

Oh woah, oh woah, here's to never growing up
Oh woah, oh woah, here's to never growing up

We live like rock stars, dance on every bar
This is who we are, I don't think we'll ever change
They say just grow up, but they don't know us
We don't give a , and we're never gonna change

"I understand where you're coming from, but I'd have to disagree." Merida tells me. I chuckle, rolling my eyes.

Grow Up

I told 'em all where to stick it
I left town with a dime to my name
I said, I'm done with all of my fake friends
Self-righteous pawns in a losing game

Got my band and a light that won't go out
Been burning since the day I was born
So I cried just a little then I'll dry my eyes
Cause I'm not a little girl no more

Some of us have to grow up sometimes
And so, if I have to I'm gonna leave you behind
Some of us have to grow up sometimes
And so, if I have to I'm gonna leave you behind

Stood in line for so long just to picket
Something I will never understand
Aren't you tired of always being mad at the world?
Won't you just admit you don't care?

And lady, I don't want your pity
So don't feel sad for me
I got a love I would die for and a song to sing
Maybe we're both just living out our dream

And some of us have to grow up sometimes
And so, if I have to I'm gonna leave you behind
Some of us have to grow up sometimes
And so, if I have to I'm gonna leave you behind

We get along for the most part
Me and reality, the light and the dark
We live alone, two different worlds
Me in a fantasy, you in your memories
But we get along

We get along
(For the most part)
We get along
(yeah, for the most part)
We get along
(For the most part)
We get along
(For the most part)

We get along
We get along

Some of us have to grow up sometimes
And so, if I have to I'm gonna leave you behind (leave you behind)
Some of us have to grow up sometimes
And so, if I have to I'm gonna leave you behind (leave you behind)

Some of us have to grow up sometimes (we grow up and evolve)
And so, if I have to I'm gonna leave you behind
Some of us have to grow up sometimes (we grow up and evolve)
And so, if I have to I'm gonna leave you behind

She sings looking at me at the proper opportunities directing the words she's saying towards me. I smile still believing in the words I sang a few minutes before.

"That was great girls. Let's give it up for America's sweethearts!" Hiccup laughs smirking.

America's Suitehearts

You could have knocked me out with a feather.
I know you've heard this all before, but we're just Hell's neighbors.
Why, why, why won't the world revolve around me?
In my dreams trees grow all over the streets.

But I don't know much about classic cars (cars),
But I've got a lot of friends stuck on classic coke (coke).
Down, set, one, hut, hut, hike,
Media Blitz

Let's hear it for America's sweethearts
But I must confess,
I'm in love with my own sins.
Let's hear it for America's sweethearts
But I must confess,
I'm in love with my own sins.

You can bow and pretend that
You don't, don't know you're a legend.
Time, time, time hasn't told anyone else yet.
(..Sorry I just..) Let my love loose again.

I don't know much about classic cars (cars),
But I've got a lot of friends stuck on classic coke (coke).
Down, set, one, hut, hut, hike,
Media Blitz

Let's hear it for America's sweethearts
But I must confess,
I'm in love with my own sins.
Let's hear it for America's sweethearts
But I must confess,
I'm in love with my own sins.

You could have knocked me out with a feather
I know you've heard this all before

Let's hear it for America's sweethearts
But I must confess,
I'm in love with my own sins.
Let's hear it for America's sweethearts
I must confess,
I'm in love with my own sins.

Sweethearts
Let's hear it for, let's hear it
Sweethearts
Let's hear it for, let's
Sweethearts

We make our way to the front like last night.

We are The Big 5!"

"Thanks for allowing us to entertain you tonight." Hiccup says.

We set our guitars on their stands and make our way down to the dance floor. People come up asking for our autographs, though I don't know why. I'm no different then they, but I guess not to them.

"You did amazing!" Elsa says hugging me.

"Thanks." She releases me when Jack walks up.

"Hey Snowflake!" he says kissing her. I smile to myself averting my eyes feeling awkward if I were to watch.

"Astrid! You were right!" Merida screams cheerfully running through the crowd to get to me.

"About what?" I ask confused.

"Your plan worked. Eret asked me out!" She squeals.

"AHHHH!!!!" We both jump up and down excited. She let's go of my hands taking off for the table that Eret, Punzie, and Flynn are seated at. I turn to Hiccup feeling eyes on me.

"Nice job Superstar!" He congratulates.
"You too." I say hugging him. I look up lost in his eyes feeling myself leaning in.

"Good job guys." Kristoff interrupts patting Hiccup's shoulder.

"Oh, thanks man." he says as we separate.
