Love
So the age old question;
what is love?
I've asked myself that question too, but of answers, I'm lacking thereof,
~
My girl seems to think it's all about emotions and touch,
But honestly, to me, that just doesn't sound like very much.
~
I ask her so often; what do you want from me? What's the endgame?
My heart? My body? My soul or my last name?
~
It's practically written in the constitution that you have to marry,
Raise four kids, wear a suit and call yourself Mr Harry,
~
But I just don't see that as happily ever after,
Mowing the lawn, trimming the hedge and providing your neighbor's with that fake laughter,
~
I don't want a white picket fence, a goodie little wife, nor drive a family van,
I just want to wake up next to you every morning, just because I can,
~
A ring on your finger doesn't symbolize my love for your beautiful soul,
Respect and trust will do that, and most of all, self-bloody-control,
~
I respect a no, I praise a yes,
but most of all, I help you through tough times, when you're a bawling, gorgeous mess,
~
Just like you push me away, you pull me so close, I hope you'll never let go,
Even when I lose my fucking brains and get down so pathetically low...
~
I love you and you love me, even despite of all that I do that you're intolerant of,
And that right there, if you honestly ask me,
is true love.
