the Cold Wind

I was lost in the badlands

Sorrow ripping at my soul

Blinded by misdirection

The Cold Wind pushing me to go

I walked in the face of a rainstorm

Soaked me to the bone

Blinded by tears of emptiness

The Cold Wind leading me home

She was the Lady of the forest

Determined to hold me there

I broke her grip of insanity

The Cold Wind driving my fear

I stood alone at the ocean

Walked deep to the ocean floor

Nearly drowned in insecurity

The Cold Wind at my door

I walked the desert of water

Was nearly crushed by sympathy

A journey more deathly tiring

With the Cold Wind tormenting me

I stood before a mountain

Built high by suffering

The skeletons of those who fell

With the Cold Wind manipulating

I climbed alone the mountains frame

With hell tormenting all the way

My mind pushing, my body numb

The Cold Wind ignoring my pain

I stand atop, blue skies above

The world spread at my feet

I have beaten you, now leave me be

Cold Wind, accept your defeat
