Dreams - Fantasy
As a child, my dreams were of shadows
Of heartbeats walked between
And of touching worlds unseen
I brought a gentle smile to those I met
As the keeper of endings
Understanding the weight of a final breath
But dreams are fantasies
With understanding beyond years lived
Stories stitched with slumbering bravado
Life eclipsed me slowly
And childhood dreams followed me
Now, I am a story moving through lives
Closing chapters with a gesture
Guiding to a forever epilogue
I am not power
Or fear
I simply am
A fantasy that refused to remain a dream
Here's my poem for the Poetry Versification 2026 contest, day 4. The prompt was 'You lived a fantasy in your dreams as a child, only to wake up living the fantasy as an adult.'
