Today
Come what may
And whatever you say
I got out of bed today
I managed to function
And gain a little traction
Showing Life my reaction
To all those I was impacting
'All those' is a lie
But, please don't sigh
Or ask me why
At least I could try
At least I could do
At least I could fool
At least I could rule
My own mind
Just like you
So
I got out of bed today
A small, whispering victory
I guess you'd say
But, size isn't all
So don't make me feel small
For me, it's still a wall
So, for me, I stand tall.
Thank you to the great Poetry profile's Poet's Corner July prompt, "Quiet Victories" for the inspiration behind this. Not every victory needs a fanfare. For some, just being is all they can manage.
