Chapter 12

"Hey,  Pumpkin," someone said behind me as I closed my locker. "How are you today?"

"Cupcake," I greeted. "Why are you bugging me this early?" I leaned my head on my locker, wondering why I bothered to come to school today. I had been up all night trying to help fix a problem in one of my companies that were in China. Thankfully, we had gotten it fixed, so I didn't have to fly all the way there and back.

"What about me?" Cupcake's sidekick asked. "Aren't you going to greet me?"

I turned around to see Marcus pouting, upset that I didn't say hello to him. "Hello, Marcus. How are you?"

Marcus beamed, probably glad that I was polite to him and not Drew. "I am good. Yourself?"

"She's tired," I heard Eevie say while she walked over to us. She had a cup of coffee in her hands and handed it over to me. "Here, Dad placed a shot of energy to try and wake you up. Did you drive?"

I shook my head. "Wally drove. I am probably going to have to walk home."

"My dad can take you home after practice," Eevie said. She looped her arm through mine and started to pull me to class.

Most of the classes I had were with both Ethan and Eevie. I was grateful for that, even though we terrorized the teachers a bit.

"He already sees me half the day. Are you sure he wants to be in a car ride with me?" I asked, taking a sip of my coffee. "I don't mind walking home."

"Wait, is your dad one of our teachers?" Marcus asked, walking next to us with Drew lagging a bit behind.

"I think you two have three out of the seven classes we have, including lunch. Even though..." I turned to look at Drew, who was staring at my butt. I waited till he looked up and raised an eyebrow. "I haven't seen you in Eevie's dad's class."

Drew smirked. "I got busy," he said. "I could show you want I was doing if you like."

I scrunched up my nose and turned to look at the ceiling, jutting my nose up into the air. "Sorry, Cupcake, but this station isn't taking any passengers."

"It better not," a deep male voice said, warning in his tone. In front of us stood Eevie's dad, Mr. Morrow, or as I like to call him "Uncle Moore." "If I find out that it is, I will cut off their testicles." He turned to look at Drew. "Nice for you to join us, Mr. Barren," he said. "I hope you will keep joining us."

"Uncle Moore," I greeted, and the older male scowled. "Still scary as ever. How are you?"

"I thought we had agreed that at school, I am Mr. Morrow, Ms. Willis," he said. He smirked in satisfaction when I narrowed my eyes at him and turned away.

"But, we are your favorite student's, Dad," Eevie said, putting on the innocent girl act. She cocked her head and pouted, and she grew teary-eyed. "Aren't we?"

I had to take a sip of coffee to stop myself from laughing. It was no secret that this war veteran, football coach, had it bad for his life females. He became like putty when they jutted out their lips and faked crying.

Uncle Moore's eyes softened. "You three are," he said. "Though I do not know why they placed you three together in all classes."

I shrugged but didn't say a word.

"We are going in, Mr. Morrow. We don't want to be late." She pulled me into the class and sat me down in a seat before sitting down beside me. A satisfied smirk was on her face, and I could tell that she was satisfied with the response she got from her father.

Marcus sat behind me with Drew sitting on my other side. "Where does Ethan usually sit?" Marcus asked, poking my head.

I turned towards him and scowled, not liking that he poked me. "In front of me. Don't touch, 'cause I do bite."

"How low?" Drew asked, and I glared at him. He smirked but didn't say a word.

"To your throat and make you submit," I replied. "Or I could put you in a chokehold, whichever you prefer."

Drew didn't say a word but raised an eyebrow. He turned away from me when Mr. Morrow came into the class and shut the door.

"Ok, as you all know, we do have a "famous" person in this class. Ms. Willis will be leading the Titans to nationals this year, so no need to get her autographs when she does."

I bit my lip and snickered along with Eevie. Both of us bopped our knuckles together because he didn't say anything about Drew.

"About Mr. Barren, do not-" He paused and covered his ears when most of the female class squealed at his name. "-interrupt my class to do anything with him. I am a hard grader, as some of you may know by taking me in the past, and I do not give handouts."

"You do, too," a person from the other side of the room called out. "You give handouts to your three "favorite" people." The male glared at me when I turned around and raised an eyebrow.

"Uh, no, he doesn't," I replied. "If anything, he makes us do extra work. Remember the study guides from last year for our tests? Ya, we had to do three times as much."

"That I don't say is a handout. It's a punishment because they are terrible students when it comes to talking."

"I love you, Daddy," Eevie said, and he scowled. "Can we get ice cream after practice?"

"You and you-" He wasn't able to finish his sentence when Ethan ran into the room. "You are late, Mr. Mason," he said. There was a frown on his face because Ethan looked like he had a rough night.

Ethan looked around the room, a crazed look in his eyes. His blonde hair was all over the place, and when he caught sight of me, he seemed to relax. He walked over to his seat and sat down, turning towards me. "She's alone," he muttered.

I stiffened. Ethan had five sisters. All of them were under the age of ten, with the youngest being six months. "Which one?" I asked, also keeping my voice low. I ignored the clearing of Mr. Morrow's throat, going to take whatever punishment he had in store for me because I was talking in class.

"Annaliese," he replied. "She's sick."

I nodded and frowned at the thought of his five-year-old sister. She was such a joy, and I hated how she was left alone with his father. I raised my hand, and Mr. Morrow huffed but called on me. "Can I go to the bathroom?" I asked.

"You had time before you went. No, you may not."

"But I really got to go," I whined. "I'll pee my pants if I don't go now."

"Fine, you can work with the football players today. I want to see how much you have remembered from last semester," Mr. Morrow replied. "I will talk with Coach Aaron today after class."

I nodded my head and raced to the bathroom, glad that I had my phone in my pocket. While I raced to the bathroom, I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialed Wally's number. I hoped he wasn't doing anything and would be able to take both Ethan and Annalise back to my place. They shouldn't be at that house.
