Chapter 25

The following couple of days had been quite uneventful except for the fact that Drew decided to take residence at my place for the remainder of the weekend plus that following Monday and Tuesday.

I had no idea why he decided to stay that long, but he did, and I didn't say much, especially since he decided to drive us to school and back, even though I had practice every day.

However, I wasn't complaining, not yet at least, but I thought it was strange that he decided to take residence here and not back at his house. But after the confrontation on the porch, I knew better than to ask and let it be, enjoying the free rides to and from school and not having to deal with a huge place by myself with only the "servants" as a company, which I didn't mind for the most part, for they were my family more than my actual family.

"You're going to have to go home," I said, spying a signal that Wally placed up to indicate that one of my "parents" were home, unexpectedly. "So, stop the car, and just drop me off right here." I took off my seatbelt.

Drew didn't stop the car until he made it to the garage, where he stopped, placed it in park, and turned to look at me. "I am not going back there," he said. "Y-"

"One of my so-called parents are home, and they have no idea that we have been "hanging" or the fact that you have decided to take residence here," I said, interrupting him. "I want to keep it that way."

"Well, I don't care. They're already going to be confused when they see dressed up in that." He gestured to the soccer clothes that I had practice with, and I rolled my eyes because I knew he was right. "So, I am staying."

"Ya, whatever," I grumbled, too tired to fight. I opened the door to the car, grabbed my bag, and started to walk to the house with Drew following me after I slammed it shut. I ignored the male behind me and opened the door to be greeted by Wally. "I know," I said, interrupting him from talking. "Where is she?"

"She is in the family room," Wally replied. "She wanted me to inform you that she requests your presence whenever you get home immediately."

I sighed and nodded. "What did you tell her that I was doing?"

"I told her that you were at school and left it at that. I didn't tell her that you were at soccer practice."

I shrugged and pursed my lips. "She is going to find out anyway since I am still dressed in my practice clothes. It doesn't matter."

Wally nodded. "Go see her then." He cleared his throat and held out his hand. "I will take your bag to your room."

I pursed my lips but nodded and handed him the bag without fighting. "Ok," I said. I turned my gaze to Drew and saw that he closed the door and leaned against it with his hands in his pockets. "Do whatever you want to do. I need to go see what Her Majesty wants and then take a shower."

Drew nodded and shrugged. "I guess I will see her as well," he replied. "She will know that I am here if she stays for food, so I might as well meet her and "thank" her for letting me stay here because I don't want to deal with my dad."

I nodded and started to walk to the family room. I was nervous, anxious, really. I had no idea what my mother would think or react to what I was wearing.

My mother would not be pleased; I knew that much, and I knew that she would degrade me for playing such a "dirty" sport. She wouldn't care that I was doing something and not indoors getting fat like she thought I normally did when I wasn't at school.

I sighed and moved a hand through my hair. "This is going to be interesting. I have no idea what she is going to say about this." I gestured to my outfit and grimaced. "She is going to be either shocked or disgusted."

"Probably both," Drew replied and smirked when I scowled. He cleared his throat and moved to my side while he grew serious. "Is there a reason why your parents hate you so much?"

I shrugged and folded my arms across my chest. I hated talking about my parents and the abuse that I went through by their hands. I knew that what they were doing was emotionally abusive, and I knew that I should leave them, but I had nowhere else to go.

I felt stuck, even though I had the money to buy myself my own place and live away from them. I felt trapped in this position as the daughter that was unloved and unwanted and better off dead.

"I am sorry that I asked," Drew said. He grabbed my elbow and stopped me from walking before he moved in front of me. Slowly, he dipped his head and studied me with gray eyes that had streaks of silver. "Forgive me?"

I took a deep breath in and let it out before I nodded. "It doesn't matter," I said, terse. "It is what it is." I cleared my throat and looked away from him. "Come on. We don't want to keep her waiting any longer."

Drew nodded his head and stayed silent. He followed me when I started to go towards the room that held my mother and whoever else she had over if she had someone over.

Hopefully, she didn't because I didn't need someone else to know how much my mother verbally and emotionally abused me.

It was bad enough that Drew was going to see first hand how bad she could be when I didn't fit her "image" as a daughter of a wealthy family with money to spare.
