Chapter 38

Someone grabbed my arm when I was about to enter the library to get away from the group and was led somewhere else, and I was about to punch them until I saw that it was Drew, looking as if he was on a mission of some sort.

"Seriously?" I asked with a hiss and wrenched my arm from his grasp, and he let me go. "What the fuck?"

Drew didn't say a word and shook his head. He set his jaw and gestured for me to follow him, and I rolled my eyes but complied, wanting to see what he had to say.

I set my jaw and narrowed my eyes, but I didn't say another word while I followed him. I had the sudden urge to drop kick his ass, but I didn't do that either, even though a big part of me wanted to.

Drew led me into an empty classroom and closed the door behind us. He turned around and looked at me when we were alone, and I freed myself from his grasp and folded my arm across my chest.

"Well?" I asked and raised an eyebrow. "What the fuck are you doing? Why did you lead m-"

I couldn't get another word out because Drew moved closer to me and placed a kiss on my lips. I was mad, but I kissed him back with just as much ferocity that he gave me.

He stopped kissing me when we were both out of breath and rested his forehead against mine. "Shit," he said and moved a hand through my hair. "Just shit."

I rolled my eyes and scowled before I pulled away from him. I didn't slap him like I wanted to, but I did fold my arms across my chest and scowl, staring at him with a murderous look in my eyes.

"What?" Drew asked and raised an eyebrow. He dipped his head closer to his chest and stared at me, confused. "What did I do?"

I shook my head and set my jaw. "You were flirting with someone in front of me," I said, knowing how stupid I sounded, but I couldn't help it. "That is what you did."

Drew looked confused and cocked his head. He studied me, trying to figure out why I was jealous when we weren't technically a thing. "You do realize that if I don't flirt with people, then they'd get suspicious of us, right?" he asked and raised an eyebrow.

"Wouldn't they be suspicious of us right now?" I asked. "You did follow me out of the cafeteria and then took me to an empty classroom to kiss me."

"I did," he confirmed and nodded. "However, I needed to talk to you and see what was wrong."

I set my jaw and narrowed my eyes while I scowled at him. "It doesn't matter," I said coldly, "so can I please leave this fucking room and get away from your fucking face?"

Drew furrowed his brows and cocked his head while he studied me, and I couldn't help but shift underneath his gaze. "Not until you promise me that you can hide your jealousy better. You have to know that I can't just up and stop flirting with everything that walks by."

"And what about kissing?" I asked and raised an eyebrow. "Will you stop doing that because I don't want anything from your pretty little sidekicks or whatever?"

Drew's lip flickered into a small smile, and he slowly nodded. "I will," he promised and tucked a strand of my brown hair behind my ear. "Now, are you going to keep the jealousy at bay or..?" He raised an eyebrow.

I wrinkled my nose and pursed my lips. "I'll try," I said, not hiding the dissatisfaction in my voice. "However, I do not make any promises."

Drew chuckled and nodded. "I wouldn't have it any other way," he said. He cleared his throat and looked at my lips before he looked at me, his eyes burning a hole into mine.

I didn't respond; I couldn't, so, instead, I nodded.

And he put his lips on mine, and I let him kiss me.

"Hey, Chris!" someone exclaimed while Drew and I were making our way to my car to put my bags in there before soccer practice. "Wait up!"

I paused and turned around to see Clarissa running towards us and raised my eyebrow. "Yes?" I asked and cocked my head while I studied her. "What is it?"

She stopped running when she caught up to us and started panting while she rested her hands on her legs. "Whew," she said, and both Drew and I looked at each other before we looked at her. "You two walk fast."

"Uhh... thank you?" I asked and looked at Drew again to see if he knew what was happening.

Drew didn't respond and shrugged, not knowing what she meant. "What is it?" he asked and looked at her. "Why were you running towards us?"

Clarissa cleared her throat, and her face grew red, and my eyebrow went higher. "Umm... well..." She looked anywhere besides me, and I pressed my lips into a thin line.

"Well, what?" I asked, making sure that I did not sound as harsh as I wanted to be. "What do you want?"

"Can... you take me home?" Clarissa asked and kicked at the dirt with a cleared throat. "Please? I don't have a ride, and I don't want to bug Wallace to take me here like I did for him to take me this morning..."

I blinked and blinked again. "Are you sure that you don't want to bother him?" I asked and shifted my backpack on my back and squeezed the handle.

"Well... you are right here... and you'll be taking Drew home... so why can't you take me home?" she asked. "I mean, we live at the same place."

"I wouldn't have minded taking you to school, Clarissa," I said, my tone slightly harder than I anticipated. I pressed my lips into a thin line when she flinched and cleared my throat. "And I am not going straight home anyway."

Clarissa blinked and blinked again. "Why not?" she asked and furrowed her brows while she looked at me. "School is done."

"Oh for the love of -" I rolled my eyes while Drew chuckled and walked the rest of my way to my car with Clarissa and Drew following me.

"What?" Clarissa asked when I wrenched open my car door and flung my school bag into the car. "What's wrong? What ha- Oh."

She stopped talking when she saw me pull out a soccer ball and my bag with my workout clothes while I looked at her.

"Ya, "oh,"" I said and tossed her the soccer ball, and I was impressed when she caught it without a sound. "If you want me to take you home, then you are going to have to wait until I am done with soccer practice. You can sit on the benches with Cupcake and watch."

"Or you can stay with the car," Drew said. He smirked and gave me a pointed look, and I held back an eye roll. "I am sure that Sweetcheeks wouldn't mind." He winked, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes and scowl.

Clarissa's eyebrows went up when he called me "Sweetcheeks," and she looked at us through narrowed eyes. "Sweetchreks?" she inquired while she studied us.

I wrinkled my nose and pursed my lips in disgust. "Stupid nickname that he gave me a long time ago. I have no idea why." I moved out of Drew's way so that he could put his bag into my car.

"It's because you are such a sweetheart," Drew said sarcastically, and I rolled my eyes and scowled. He placed his bag into the car and looked at Clarissa, his hand on the door. "So are you staying or not?" he asked, raising an eyebrow while he waited for Clarissa to do something. "If you're staying, then go ahead and put your bag into the car. She needs to head over to the locker rooms so that she can get changed and be ready for practice on time."

Clarissa looked at the soccer ball and tossed it in her hands. She furrowed her brows before she sighed and tossed me the ball.

I caught it and raised an eyebrow. "Well?" I asked as she took off her bag.

"I'm staying," she said and walked to my car. She tossed it into my car and then looked at me with a small smile on her face. "So that you can take me home afterward."

I nodded while Drew closed the door. "Then let's go," I said. "I don't want to be late or else my coach will make me work with the other boys." I started to walk towards the school again, locking my car, and they followed.

"The other boys?" Clarissa asked, confused.

"Football players," I replied. "It sucks when that coach is also your teacher and your best friend's dad."

"It just means that you work harder," Drew said. He patted my arm before he kept his hand on my arm for a little too long.

I shifted until he wasn't touching me. "Shove off," I gruffed, and he snorted. "It's not like I don't work hard anyway."

"Either way, Sweetcheeks, you have the best ass to look at between all players."

I rolled my eyes and walked a little faster than them, my cheeks turning slightly red, especially with the way that he said. "Shut up, Cupcake," I said gruffly. "Just... shut up."
