Chapter 1
I stared at the pile of unread letters scattered on the table. I sighed dramatically, and sorted through them. I would reply to them all, but I would just skim over them.
Each one contained an ask for another book by me. Which I knew was never going to happen.
When I was 14 years old, I wrote the bestselling 'The Split' . It was about my parents divorce, and my sisters death. Of course, I changed some things, to make it more interesting. Now I was stuck on my next book. I tried- I really did. But whenever I sat down, and grabbed my laptop, I couldn't do it.
I know, I was a failure of an author.
After an avid reading session, I headed off to school.
"Hey, Swan!" My best friend Keira raced up to me, a smile on her face.
"Hello Keira!"
"Guess what? Sarafina asked me out! This Saturday!" Keira excitedly said, and I smiled.
"OH MY GOD!"
We hugged, and chatted on about that.
Soon Parvati , Dawn and Cecilia came. I looked at my friends, glad that at least they weren't swarming me for more. I couldn't help but remember how I had described each of them in my book.
Keira had white skin, and long, cinnamon coloured hair that I envied. Her eyes were hazel, and framed perfectly by long eyelashes. She was tall, and naturally skinny.
Parvati had black hair cut in a bob, and light brown skin. Her face was oval, and her eyes were almost black. She was the same size as me, but much plumper, and had less acne.
Dawn had wavy, long red hair, lots of freckles, and olive skin. Her eyes were brown, and she had rosy red cheeks. She was dwarfed by everyone she met. She also had dark sunglasses, and a walking stick due to her blindness.
Cecilia had really dark skin, and always wore a saffron coloured hijab. She still looked like a boy, but was going to change soon. She had heaps of acne, and her brown eyes were the envy of me.
Then there was me. I was from Vietnam, and I looked the part. I had hearing aids along both my ears, and I had heaps of acne. I had brown eyes, that was framed by brown hair which I had dyed streaks purple. I was average height, which slightly annoyed me.
"Swan, you know you could just write like a sequel to your story, and you actually venture out and do some stuff, and write that in your weird story," Cecilia now looked like the girl she knew she was, but her voice was deep.
And that deep voice gave me an idea.
It was time for my story to begin.
