I took a deep breath, and prepared myself for what I had to do. I wasn't supposed to go to this party, but I did.  I had  snuck out the window-which luckily was low. I landed with a soft thud, and rubbed my ankle. I hesitated slightly, then walked purposely to Fred's house. 

Inside I could see heaps of people, and I felt like turning around. But I walked in anyway. Inside I could see Keira with Serafina- who had short, spiky blonde hair, blue eyes, and was naturally thin. She was pretty much society's standard of beauty. I waved at Keira, but she didn't notice me. 

Cecilia, was also here. Dawn, like me, preferred not to come. But I was surprised to see that Parvati wasn't here-she was normally at every party. 

"OH MY GOD SWAN IS HERE!" Cecilia shouted at me. I smiled nervously at her, and started to walk closer.  

Then I tripped over something, and felt a steady hand stop me from falling over. I looked up. Into the most perfect eyes I had ever seen. They were black, with long black eyelashes. I looked further up, and saw shocking red hair. To quote Cecil Palmer, I fell in love instantly. 

"Th-thanks! I um, haven't seen you around?" I stumbled. Mystery person smiled, and said:

"I'm Jake, I just moved here. You look nice."

"You look nice too? I'm Swan," he did look nice. He was wearing jeans, and a black t-shirt, but he looked nice anyway. I wanted to grab him and-

"I hope to see you soon, Swan," and just like that, Jake left.

"Cecilia came over to me, and whispered;

"Looks like we have some lovebirds."

The party was ok, but I was busy searching for Jake. After half a hour, I saw Parvati return, giggling a she held hands with someone, who I couldn't see. 

I walked outside to get some fresh air, and saw Serafina kissing a girl. Looking closer, I saw that it was in fact my first crush, Zaria Jones. I turned around to tell Keira, dreading having to tell her, but then I saw Jake. Once again I felt a wash of hysteria come over me. Jake smiled at me, and I opened my mouth to say something, but he leaned in, and kissed me. 

I leant into the kiss, and all the noises faded. Nothing mattered but this person in front of me, holding my head. Finally I pulled back.

"That was great, but I have to- have to tell Keira something," Jake smiled at me, and followed me. 

"Keira! Serafina's..." I started to say, but Keira was already crying. 

"I know, Gretta saw them..." Keira sobbed into my arms, then looked around and asked, " is that your new boyfriend?" 

"Not yet," Jake answered, just before me. 

I kissed Jake goodbye, and promised to meet up with him tomorrow, the took Keira home She hugged me tightly, and whispered;

"Thank you," before closing her door. 

I made my way home, and opened the window, wincing as it creaked.

Pushing myself up, I climbed to my room. Then, I froze. 

My mother was in my room, staring right me, looking disappointed.
