and she couldn't help but smile

when her thoughts drifted to him..

she met someone new

someone she watched from afar

someone she thought 

she never had a chance with

someone she thought

would just be another face

in a crowd 

that she only hoped

thought she was pretty..

but then they began to talk

and she started smiling more

and she began mentioning him

all the time

and she found herself

checking her phone

more often than not

for messages from him.

they had so much in common

they liked the same things

and he was cute

and funny

and they had the same morals

she couldn't stop the butterflies

she couldn't stop her heart

from pounding

she couldn't stop the anticipation 

of talking to him

of seeing him...

then,

he asked her out on a date

and she danced around her room

giddy

because she had never liked a guy

so much in her life..

the date couldn't come

when he came to pick her up.

they went to lunch

to go to an art museum

to see a new exhibit.

he took pictures of her at a park after

despite the wind

and the cold

then they went back to her house

for hot chocolate

they jammed to her music

on the way home

and sang at the top of their lungs

he stayed for dinner

invited by her father,

which meant that he liked him..

entertaining

story-filled dinner

she was content..

she didn't know

they hugged

she didn't want it to stop

but it was cold

she watched as he drove away
