For a moment, my lips reacted to his with a tingling familiarity, and our mouths danced together as though this kiss was rehearsed, and had always been choreographed for moments like these. He tasted like licorice with a hint of mint, and I strangely . . . liked it.
My heart leaped in dread at what was happening, and I dropped my bag before promptly shoving his chest away from me.
The blond haired lad stood in front of me, out of breath, his eyes hooded.
I swiped my hand across my mouth. "What the hell?!"
Dylan had the audacity to smirk. "Tell me . . . do you remember that?"
I threw him an incredulous look. "What the fúck is wrong with you?" I picked my bag from the floor then took several steps behind. "Why would you do that?"
He shook his head in a disbelieving manner. "We're having an affair, Dee."
My blood ran cold. What? What did he mean? I thought Jac was my boyfriend.
As though Dylan could read my mind, he scoffed. "Jac is your boyfriend, but I'm the love of your life." He stretched his hands beside him, showing off.
Cockiness. His cockiness was palpable and I knew he was lying. Trying to gather my thoughts, I shook my head, "No. You're bluffing-"
"I'm not," he said. "You and Jac are the face of a power couple in this school, but in real sense, you and I are having a secret affair."
A secret affair? That sounded too scandalous. It didn't sound like something I would do. Dating two guys at the same time?
I held my head. "You mean, I'm cheating on Jac? With you?"
Dylan nodded. Silence passed between us.
"I know this is a lot to take in," he began. "But it's been killing me, having to roam these halls without you, being in the cafeteria and I really miss the sex so much-"
"What?!"
Did he just say sex?
Dylan chuckled, a bit amused with my reaction. "We're fuck buddies? You-"
"Okay, can you just-" I raised my hand to stop him. "Just stay away from me, please. Stay away!"
I sharply turned around and walked away. He was lying. I knew he was. He had to be. And I resented Dylan for that.
I knew what he was doing. He was taking advantage of me because I had lost my memory. Dylan had definitely seen my amnesia as an opportunity to feed me lies for his own benefit.
Well, I was not going to have any of it. I wasn't going to fall for his trap.
But one thing kept nagging me. Even if what Dylan was saying had some element of truth, it meant that I had lost my virginity.
Who did I lose it to?

I was lost.
People around me were heading to classes while I had no clue where I was supposed to be headed, or even what my schedule was. Did they still have compulsory Homeroom for everyone as the first period of the day? I didn't know if that had changed.
To be honest, I was scared to ask any random person to help me locate my class, because first things first, the many unfamiliar faces unnerved me and second of all, I was afraid of being hoodwinked.
The realization that I might easily be misled because I don't remember three years of my life hit me hard after I walked away from Dylan.
I had no idea where my locker was. It obviously had to be a different one because this school changed schedules and lockers and teachers and classes every damn year.
Dang it, I knew I should've stuck around at the receptionist's office and asked for these changes I am yet to encounter.
I walked down the hallway, as more students kept decreasing until it was almost empty. My nerves jittered again. Did they still have the hallway pass policy during class hours?
Knowing that I was a senior, I went to the senior hallway that had room 401: the senior Homeroom as I last remembered from freshman year. It was the hallway which was a no go zone for freshmen. I took a wild guess that I was heading to the right class, but I hoped to the heavens that Homeroom was still always the first period and they hadn't changed that.
I stood in front of the door and peeked through the window. Whoever would take us through Homeroom had not yet arrived and I let out a sigh of relief. I scanned the students who were chattering and making a ruckus and-oh my god!
I saw many familiar faces!
There was Dorky Dareth at the front of the class-as usual-but instead of trying to dodge the paper spits being thrown at him, he had a girl-wait was that Millie seated on his lap? I recognized them, but they were so different. Both were no longer small bodied or nerdy looking as I remember.
And was that Hailey? Sweet innocent red haired Hailey had died her hair purple with white highlights! And her piercings and raccoon eye make up! Holy lords.
I spotted Valerie, being her usual self, meaning she was seated on the desk of some guy-I didn't recognize him, he was probably new-and flirting by swishing her blond hair and laughing in that tinkly way that she always does. Guess Valerie hadn't changed much.
And there was Jac, talking on the phone and smiling. My encounter with Dylan flashed in my mind and I quickly shut my eyes as guilt swelled in my chest.
This was crazy. I didn't feel like a cheater. It wasn't in my bones, I know it!
Sighing, I let myself relax as I braced myself to open the door. I scanned the students one more time, recognizing at least eighty percent of them. I smiled a bit when I saw Emma digging her nose in some fantasy novel. She still looked the same, like, she hadn't changed even one bit.
The familiar faces made my heart swell with happiness that I really hadn't felt ever since I got out of the hospital.
But moments later, my heart sank. Clark wasn't there. Maybe he really wasn't in my life anymore. I would just open this door and confirm what happened to him so that at least, I could get some closure.
Dread filled me as I placed my hand on the doorknob. As much as I remembered most of them, I knew things had changed. Including me. Things were not as they were in freshman year. I knew there would be some things that would startle me, especially now that I was an amnesiac.
I hesitated.
"Blondie, are you going to open that or should we do it for you?" a voice said behind me.
I turned, ready to roll my eyes at whoever just called me Blondie. My words of retort got caught in my throat because instead of one guy, I saw two and one of them was-
"Clark?"
