Born Again

"Jason! 12 o'clock!"

He sucks and slashes, stabbing and rolling on the ground.

"Piper! 3 feet on your right!"

He runs through the masses, desperately trying to help his friends.

"NO!"

He lunges in front of dear Hazel, and knocks a dagger from his enemy's hand.
He helps up the sweet girl, then runs off to aid the others.

"Annabeth! Duck!"

He lunges over his girlfriends, turning the dracnae that was about to behead her to dust.

"Thanks Seaweed brain!"

"No problem Wisegirl!"

He is a storm in a mass of enemies, a force to be reckoned with.

Slash and duck

Stab and roll

Block and lunge

Turn and slide

He is random, always moving, always fighting, but unpredictable.

And then...

"PERCY NO"

He challenges Gaea.

He manages to slice off her arm, but she is still touching the earth, so it just reforms. He continues slashing and slicing her until he grows frustrated and his moves turn careless.

Beads of Sweat forms on his brow. His forehead wrinkles in concentration, he squints his eyes.

Slash, stab

Duck, lunge

Roll, block

He leaps up into the air, turns midway, and lands on Gaea's shoulders.

"AH"

She screams and tries to swat him off, but he holds on for dear life. He grips onto her hair tightly with one hand, and summons the water molecules into the air, condensing them and making them bring the two of them up, and up, and up.

When he is high enough in the air, about 75 feet, he lets go of her hair and falls, but stabs his sword in her back and pushing hard so it punctures her. He doesn't let if of his sword, though, so the momentum of his fall brings the sword down and slices her body clean in half.

She screams, turning into dust as he falls. He wants to finish her off, so he angles into a nose dive, with his sword stretched out in front of him.

Down

Down

Down

He falls.

"PERCY"

He hears his comrades calling his name in desperation, feels Jason try to control the winds around him-Zeus helping him, but he urged the water molecules to push him along faster.

BAM

He strikes home. His sword runs through the ground. His body slams into the ground after he runs out of hilt, but his sword keeps going, down to the Earth's core. The Earth rumbles and shakes as his sword hits the core and they know that Gaea will sleep forever. They do not know how, but they know.

They all kneel next to his limp form. He had died on impact, they thought, hadn't even gotten the chance to say goodbye.

"Her soul is connected to his sword..."

Athena whispers as she comes to kneel next to her sobbing daughter, offering comfort and support.

Poseidon collapses next to his son, cradling the limp body, whispering
"I'm sorry"
Over and over again.

Everyone kneels with their heads bowed in respect, tears running down their faces.

A gasp sounded from the broken body Poseidon held.

"Live on"

All heads snap towards the voice, and stare wide-eyed at the demigod fighting to stay alive long enough to say goodbye.

"Live on, don't forget me, never forget the things we have done together-as a team. Swear it on the Styx. For me."

"We swear"

Everyone choruses.

He takes one more shuddering breath, and his eyes turn glassy and dull, staring forever unblinking into the sky.

The war had been won, but at such a cost. The few left over monsters had been killed by the shockwave Percy had created, and Gaea was connected to his sword. It was over, but their hero was gone.

They would forever keep the oath they had made with the final breath of their dying hero.

---

The Six had moved to New Rome the following month. They all wanted a new start, together, as a family.
They went to school every weekday, and every weekend, they would spend together, crowded at the base of the monument that had been built in remembrance of their savior.

The monument was a statue of him, standing tall and proud, and at the bottom, was a huge rock with Riptide stuck, hilt up, in the rock-it was magical, and could only be removed by the most worthy hero.

This weekend, though, was different. This weekend is the one year anniversary of His death. They would spend this day with everyone else, in the pavilion, paying their respects, and return to their shared house to spend the rest of the evening consoling each other.

And that is exactly what they did, however, it did not exactly turn out how they thought.

When they had started the silent trek back, all they could think about-was Percy.

Waaaaaa-aaaaah waa-aaaah

"Do you guys hear that?"

Piper pipes up.

"What are you talking about?"

"Huh?"

"What?"

"Mh?"

"Eh?"

"Shh. Listen"

Waa-aa-aaah waaaaaah

"It sounds like a baby crying!"

Leo exclaims!

Nods and notions of agreement go around the group. They are the only ones that live on this hill though, so whose baby is it?

They jog up ahead and see a small cradle sitting on their doorstep. Carefully, they approach it.

Waaaaa-aaaaa-aaaaaah

It is the baby they had been hearing. The baby's eyes were closed tightly, it's tiny hands clenched into tight fists. It's toes are curled. It is not wearing much-just a diaper-a gold fabric diaper.

"What-?"

"I have no idea."

They stare at the child curiously, before Annabeth goes and picks him-it is obviously a him-up and out of the blue cradle, and walks inside.

"Bring his things inside."
She calls over her shoulders.

Hazel picks up the fallen sea-green blanket and supper picks up the cradle, and the rest of the group heads inside.

They see Annabeth sitting on the couch, rocking the baby in her arms, trying to stop the crying.

"Hush now, we are here."

"Hey, what's that?"

With his archer's vision, Frank spots a small white envelope tucked in the folds of the cushions in the cradle that Piper had set on the counter.

"I don't know."

Jason grabs the envelope and opens it, his eyes skimming the letter. His eyes widen and he takes a shaky breath, and starts to read it aloud.

"We have decided to give the hero another life. He remembers everything and will grow to be the same person. All war veterans will be given immortality tomorrow, as will he-on his 17th birthday. Take care of him and give him a better childhood than his old one.
-The Moirai"

A whistling sound is heard and suddenly a pen flies into the cradle-Anaklusmos engraved onto it.

They run out with the child to look at the monument and notice the missing sword.

They stare down at the child with tears in their eyes as the baby opens his beautiful, bright, sad, dearly missed sea-green eyes.

Percy.
